Diary of a Dead Wizard

Chapter 976: Angry

Saul sat on the huge pink sofa with his eyes closed, resting.

Black vines crawled throughout the entire room, leaving barely any space to step.

Four deactivated red worms floated in the room, shuttling between sunlight and shadow.

“What happened?” Byron’s first reaction was to close the door.

“There’s something I need to ask you.” Saul opened his eyes and sat up straight on the soft sofa. “Ask the half-elf.”

Seeing Saul’s serious expression, Byron nodded and sat in the chair across from Saul.

“Go ahead and ask.”

“Agu went to see Fiona, but…” Saul thought of Agu’s deathly expression when he returned, and his soul body struggling like a fly trapped in a spider’s web.

Without him saying more, Saul could understand Agu’s pain.

That bastard Meurich did it on purpose!

He deliberately gave Agu hope, then deliberately killed the fake Fiona in front of Agu, and when Agu was at his most agitated, he casually told him that everything was fake – the real Fiona had already died horribly at the hands of a half-elf after Agu left.

Moreover, from Meurich’s description, that half-elf was very likely the one inside Byron.

Making a half-elf who had theoretically disappeared from this world Agu’s enemy meant Agu would never have a chance for revenge in his lifetime.

Come to think of it, Meurich’s actions actually brought him no benefits. Even if he ultimately didn’t harm Agu, he couldn’t be considered the enemy who killed Agu’s daughter. But his torturing of Agu had already made his impression terrible in Saul’s mind.

The returning Agu had forced himself to tell Saul everything, then returned to the diary without a word, not coming out again even by evening.

Seeing Agu like this, Saul suddenly remembered the middle-aged appearance he first saw in the wizard tower’s library – that frightened soul body who would immediately disappear at the slightest scare.

Did that middle-aged soul body hide Agu’s fear of his pursuers and worry for the daughter he was forced to abandon?

Now all of Agu’s worries and fears had come true.

He had sealed himself off again.

Saul didn’t know what purpose Meurich had for doing this. He only knew…

He was angry!

After hearing Saul’s brief description, Byron understood what had happened and immediately called to the half-elf hidden in his soul body.

A breathtakingly beautiful face appeared above Byron’s face. “Agu’s daughter wasn’t killed by me. I once tried to research Faceless Ones to escape the elves’ curse, but I never hunted anyone, never brutally killed ordinary people. Overly intense emotional changes would make me transform toward being an elf.”

Saul looked at the half-elf’s face. This face could change according to the preferences of whoever saw it.

That is to say, anyone who saw the half-elf would see what they considered the most beautiful appearance.

They might even lose the will to oppose the half-elf because of this.

But the current Saul was completely unaffected by the half-elf’s abnormal charm. Looking at the other party’s face, he could see directly into his heart through his eyes.

After a moment, Saul slowly leaned back into the pink sofa.

“I believe you.”

Even the half-elf visibly relaxed after hearing Saul’s acknowledgment.

Although the person who established communication channels with him was Byron, he was very clear that the only person he could ask for help in bringing the elves back to the real world was Saul.

The half-elf slowly withdrew, very consciously returning body control to Byron.

“He wasn’t lying.” Byron opened his eyes, his first words expressing his opinion.

Saul leaned against the sofa, fingers interlaced. “So Meurich just randomly found someone to tick off Agu.”

“Even if the real killer isn’t him, he can’t escape responsibility.” Penny flew out from the diary with a clamor.

It had been trying to communicate with Agu but received no response.

Penny didn’t have particularly good relationships with other consciousness bodies in the diary, but seeing Agu like this still made it feel like one of their own was being bullied.

“Brother Saul, let’s go kill Meurich! I can create the most terrifying nightmare for him!”

Saul considered for a moment but shook his head. “He’s from the Stargate Council, currently focused on red worm experiments to complete their migration plan. Right now Alick absolutely won’t allow anyone to sabotage his actions. So…”

“So we just watch Agu get bullied?” Penny was indignant.

Saul pressed his fingers to his jaw and suddenly revealed a smile. “Doesn’t Meurich like to destroy others’ dreams at the last moment? Then let’s destroy his dream too.”

He suddenly sat up straight and said to Byron, “Senior, please go to the Star Observatory Tower to find Alick and ask if it’s still possible for me to participate in the stargate plan.”

Before Byron could nod, Penny had already landed on Little Algae’s head. “Wow, Brother Saul, sounds like you’re full of bad ideas! I like it!”

Little Algae: “Eee eee eee eee!”

Byron thought for a moment and suggested: “This seems too deliberate. Let’s find an opportunity.” ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝·𝘧𝙞𝙧𝙚·𝔫𝔢𝔱

“That’s a very good idea.” Douglas nodded with satisfaction, then reminded Saul, “But it’s also a very dangerous idea.”

He leaned forward as if to whisper to Saul, “Even if you can help the Stargate Council solve some experimental problems, they won’t necessarily reveal core secrets to you. Instead, you’re more likely to be used by them.”

“Secrets are things we have to dig up ourselves. If we just sit and wait for others to give them to us, I might as well wait to die.” Saul looked resolute.

“Oh, are you pointing that at me?”

“Not exactly, but I can’t be the only one taking risks while you enjoy the results from outside. That’s no way to maintain long-term cooperation.”

“Taking the initiative so quickly?” Douglas wasn’t angry and even smiled lightly. “But you do have that capability. I’m also curious how the Stargate Council cultivated such large red worms.”

Saul took out the red worm he had obtained. “I’ve experimented – red worms that devour more consciousness bodies grow faster, but quantity can’t be guaranteed. None of the red worms show signs of reproduction.”

Douglas also said: “It seems we’re missing a key piece of the puzzle. For us, how the Stargate Council uses red worms and Faceless Ones to resist starlight pollution isn’t important. What’s truly important is how to increase the number of red worms we have.”

Douglas understood immediately, directly guessing all of Saul’s hidden meanings.

Saul found it strange – how had such an excellent wizard never been heard of before?

Douglas stood up and straightened his somewhat disheveled wizard robe. “I’ll go talk to Chairman Alick right now.”

After speaking, Douglas left the room directly.

Seeing the homeowner leave, Saul naturally couldn’t stay either, so he followed and left together.

Just then, his mind stirred – someone had placed a secret letter in Byron’s house.
