Chapter 389 - 26: The Curtain Rises

Chapter 389: Chapter 26: The Curtain Rises

“Tap!” A crisp footstep sounded.

Lynch stepped onto the ancient stone steps.

It seemed like just a small step across, yet at this moment, the ancient Underground City came to life.

“Boom! Boom! Boom!”

The sound of flames burning occurred, and groups of flames ignited in the Underground City. The bright firelight illuminated the surrounding view and gradually unveiled this underground city’s appearance before Lynch’s eyes.

What came into view was a palace.

This was a very large palace. The dome was at least several hundred meters from the ground, supported by towering, immense stone pillars, each intricately and beautifully carved with exquisite patterns.

Ahead was a corridor leading into the depths of the palace. Each side of the corridor stood rows of fire pits, which were being lit one after another, extending towards a seemingly endless depth.

Everywhere the firelight illuminated, it gleamed with a golden glow— the reflection of Gold.

In this grand hall, piles of Gold Coins, gold and silver jewelry, multicolored gemstones, golden masks, and all sorts of valuable gold and silver items could be seen everywhere. These treasures piled higher than mountains, presenting a sea of gold as far as the eye could see.

“Gold! It’s gold!”

“That’s too much, my God!”

“All treasures!”

Dragons have a habit of hoarding treasures, and the dragons here are no exception. Every qualified giant dragon, while alive, would rampantly plunder various treasures to stuff into their lairs, each dragon’s lair essentially being a treasure house filled with immense wealth.

Looking at these exotic treasures in front of him, the corners of Lynch’s mouth couldn’t help but curl into a smile.

The treasures plundered by giant dragons are not limited to gold and jewelry from the Human World. Wizards are also among their plundering targets; ordinary Wizards and even Mystical Wizards are often no match for dragons, with their painstakingly built Wizard Towers frequently swept clean.

When Lynch last ventured here, he sensed a massive element reaction within this treasure house’s sea of Gold Coins, clearly indicating that besides these gold and silver jewels, it also contained a substantial quantity of Magic Stones, Magic Items, and more.

This was one of the reasons Lynch targeted this Bone Dragon, as defeating it would indeed be quite rewarding.

“Roar!”

At this moment, a deafening, thunderous roar echoed from the depths of the palace, followed by an enraged voice:

“Thief!”

“How dare you impudent thieves intrude into Trans’s chamber without permission!”

“I’m going to tear you to pieces; no one will leave here alive!”

This voice, though clearly coming from a distant place, seemed to resound immediately in their ears, thundering like a clap of thunder, painfully shaking the eardrums.

Crucially, it was mixed with an overwhelming Spiritual Field; once the voice sounded, it instantly pierced through the eardrums and invaded people’s minds.

The adventurers who had first entered the Underground City immediately suffered this initial shockwave.

The severe pain stimulated them to cover their ears one after another. Even so, many adventurers were left dizzy and intensely shaken, while some even bled from their seven orifices and collapsed, their fates unknown.

This was just a single roar, illustrating the formidable power of this Bone Dragon.

“Clatter!”

“Creak!”

“Ha-ha!”

Before the adventurers could regain their footing, strange sounds followed closely.

The sea of Gold Coins parted to either side, and then Dead Spirits rose from within these golden waves.

The crackling sound of skeletons rubbing and the wheezing of wind pipes rang out one after another.

Skeletons, Zombies, Undead Knights, Undead Blade Axe Men, Ghouls, Stone Statue Ghosts… all types of Undead Creatures appeared innumerably.

The ghostly blue soul fire instantly overshadowed the burning fire pits in the grand hall, manifesting a formidable legion of Undead Legion in the blink of an eye!

Simultaneously, from the depth of darkness, a colossal head emerged.

It was the skull of a giant dragon.

The pale bones shimmered with metallic brilliance, their lines exquisite and sharp, sinister and terrifying. Measuring several dozen meters, it resembled a small house, exuding an overwhelming sense of pressure with just a glance.

As this enormous head appeared, the outline of its owner’s body gradually became clearer in the dark.

What kind of creature was this?

It stood like the height of a small mountain, its entire form composed of massive skeletal structures, the bones consistent with that skull, with each inch of bone shining with a luxurious metallic luster.

Moreover, some peculiar symbols shone at specific skeletal positions, resembling the runes of a Wizard.

Dragon Spell.

Technically, these are a type of rune, although these runes are exclusive to the giant dragons and naturally awakened as innate runes during the dragon’s growth, unlike Wizard-gained runes through learned mastery.

Whenever a dragon awakens a talent, such a rune would be naturally imprinted within their body, serving as a source of their formidable powers.

The Bone Dragon stood upright, raising its towering head, looking down at the adventurers below. In front of such a giant creature, these adventurers indeed seemed like ants on the ground.

“All of you, stay here!”

With a roar from this Bone Dragon, the Necromancy Army within the sea of gold fully launched an attack on the adventurers.

“It’s coming! They’re coming!”

“Don’t panic, nobody panic, everyone brace yourselves!”

“Fight! Fight!”

The adventurers were not easily frightened. Having roamed the Underground City for years, they accumulated abundant experience dealing with the dead. Seeing the mass of undead surging forward, they promptly assumed their roles and rearranged their formations.

Berserkers, Swordsmen, Knights, each combat profession adventurer charged forward, forming an impenetrable defensive line at the forefront.

Archers in the back set up Longbows, ready to shoot.

Further behind, apprentices, priests, and other Transcendent beings raised their weapons, converging various Magic Beams in their hands.

meters!

meters!

meters!

“Whoosh whoosh whoosh!”

Upon entering the range, a row of dense bowstring sounds rang out, and a volley of arrows emerged from the archers’ hands, launching the first wave of attacks on the undead.

As a large row of Dead Spirits fell, the remaining Undead clashed with the adventurers like a tide.

The battle commenced completely at this moment!
