Chapter 491: Chapter 23: Contest
“Box number three, twenty million!”
The resounding bid echoed through the venue, instantly causing a commotion inside.
“Twen… twenty million!”
“Tsk tsk tsk, twenty million Magic Stones… this can’t be real, can it?”
“Where on earth did this come from? To be able to produce such wealth, did they just rob an ancient giant dragon?”
For a typical wizard, possessing tens or hundreds of thousands of Magic Stones is already considered quite substantial. Those with a wealth of several hundred thousand to a million either manage their finances exceptionally well or have extraordinary qualities, but reaching the level of tens of millions… is far beyond what the Wizard Level can typically possess.
It’s important to understand that while wizards have relatively high incomes, cultivation also requires a vast amount of resources. Most of the Magic Stones they earn are spent on various cultivation resources, leaving them with limited expendable Magic Stones.
If one possesses a powerful backing or owns a Wizard Tower and Witch Domain as a Witch Master, that’s one thing. But for those Grey Wizards or Wild Wizards with no grounding, it’s hard to accumulate many Magic Stones over a year.
Inside the box.
Carl and Baggen were slightly surprised by Lynch’s bid.
Though they were also Witch Masters, managing a Witch Domain’s expenses was no small matter. It’s not that they couldn’t produce twenty million Magic Stones, but doing so as casually as Lynch was another story.
Especially considering the auction had just started, with many more treasures yet to be auctioned off.
Kalsa couldn’t help but say, “Saphieros Wizard is truly generous; twenty million Magic Stones is no small amount.”
Lynch shrugged, “Well, Magic Stones only truly show their value when spent.”
The name “big shot” is no joke; since establishing a partnership with Fran, Lynch basically has no pressure regarding Magic Stones.
In other words, Magic Stones are a basic resource with extensive utilities in the Wizard World, and to some extent, they indicate the power distribution in this world.
If you calculate the currently discovered Magic Stone Mines worldwide as 100, at least 98% of these are controlled by the top few Wizard Organizations, namely the Land of Freedom, Fran, Land of Extreme Winter, and Old Land.
They control almost all Magic Stone Mines in the world, directly or indirectly, and as long as the world’s structure doesn’t change, any newly discovered Magic Stone Mine will inevitably still flow into these Wizard Organizations.
The Jade Land is an example; a huge Jade Ridge seemingly belongs to this Witch Domain and is controlled by local Wizard Organizations, but in reality, the extracted Magic Stones eventually find their way to these major Wizard Organizations through various means.
Though it’s unfortunate, there’s no alternative; the world’s operation is based on this stark reality, and all rules and civilizations are indeed just a facade of hypocrisy. At their core, strength still reigns supreme.
In conclusion,
for a giant force like Fran, Magic Stones are essentially unlimited resources, and Lynch, who has aligned with them, can naturally enjoy this benefit.
Of course, it’s not like they provide him with indefinite Magic Stones. The world’s total amount of Magic Stones is constantly limited, and even Fran, in its might, wouldn’t just give them all to him; it’s unnecessary.
It’s just that the number of Magic Stones he can currently mobilize consists of many zeros, far exceeding ordinary wizards’ needs and making them merely a series of numbers for a wizard of his level.
“So, the distinguished guest in box number three has offered twenty million Magic Stones. Are there any other guests willing to bid higher?”
“Twenty million once!”
“Twenty million twice!”
On the stage, the Sophie God was about to announce the result of the first item’s auction.
However, at that moment.
“Box number six, twenty-one million!”
A voice rang out.
Lynch was somewhat surprised, as he thought his bid was already quite high, not expecting anyone else to compete.
He couldn’t help looking towards box number six, located just left-front of their box.
But every box was protected by the Market’s Barrier Magic. No matter how he tried, Lynch could only see a blur there, a common measure for safeguarding guests.
Though there were only a few on the upper floor, Witch Kalsa quickly informed Lynch of the identity across from them. ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ novel✶fire.net
Kalsa said, “It’s Anderson, Master of Pure White.”
Lynch raised an eyebrow, “Pure White Tower?”
Kalsa nodded and continued, “Anderson’s younger brother has long since advanced to High-level Wizard, continually refining his soul over the years. Anderson likely aims to secure this Crystal Flower Spirit for him.”
Baggen nodded and said, “Indeed, before the gathering, Anderson sent me a message asking me not to compete against him at the auction.”
Currently, throughout all of Jade Land, only a handful are eligible to advance to the Second Tier Mystic Technique, with everyone knowing who among those factions they belong to, and salutations have been made before the auction.
Baggen added, “It’s said Anderson has been preparing for a long time, being determined to obtain this Crystal Flower Spirit.”
The implication was to inform Lynch if he continued to compete, he should be prepared to offend Anderson and sour relations.
This gathering was genuinely attended by those of Wizard Level, but on the second floor, the Mystic Technique entities were more involved in a strength contest than participating in the auction. Who obtained what item was not just a matter of wealth.
Lynch furrowed his brow.
Actually, his Witch Domain currently has no wizard reaching the Sprint Mystical Level, so there’s no urgent need for this Crystal Flower Spirit and yielding it wouldn’t be impossible.
However, Lynch didn’t plan to do that.
His Witch Domain directly borders Pure White Land, and they had various conflicts during the Dark Moon Church era. When Lynch first inherited this land, those guys even took advantage by biting a piece off his domain.
Over the years, they’ve behaved erratically, often causing disturbances at the border resources linked to them.
Previously, he kept backing down due to lacking strength and needing to digest Dark Moon Land, but now Dark Moon Land’s core block has mostly been absorbed, and the Moon Tower is under full control. His strength has significantly improved, and he’s allied with Fran, a mighty power.
The notion of remaining submissive despite progress seemed nonsensical, rendering his cultivation efforts futile.
So, Lynch asked the two Mystics beside him, “If I proceed with this contention, will you two stand with me?”
Kalsa and Baggen exchanged glances; Lynch’s query indicated he likely already had his decision.
Baggen responded, “I can guarantee not to stand against you.”
Kalsa nodded, “Same here.”
Alright then,
That assurance was sufficient.
So Lynch whispered instructions to the Enchanting Demon Maid beside him.
Before long, a voice resonated in the venue:
“Box number three, fifty million!”
