Chapter 548: Chapter 7: The Impending Trial of Rotten Wood

Rotten Wood Elder.

This once renowned powerful Wizard throughout the entire Wizard World is a Third-tier Domain Wizard who commands the whole Decaying Swamp Witch Domain.

No matter the reason, he has now publicly announced his intention to choose an heir on this land of the Jade Land to inherit his Third-tier Domain inheritance.

The moment the announcement was made, the entire Jade Land was thrown into an uproar.

From Second Tier to Third Tier, what seems like a mere step is actually worlds apart.

If Second Tier Mystic Technique is considered as high-level lifeforms above Wizards, then Third-tier Domain is an existence that has truly entered the core of this world.

Any Third-tier Domain is undoubtedly a powerful Witch Master with a vast Witch Domain, so esteemed that even within the entire Supreme Council, they have a position and the power to influence the direction of the Wizard World.

Therefore, every Mystical Power sees the Third-tier Domain as the ultimate goal of their lifetime pursuit.

However, reaching the Domain Level is not something that can be achieved by effort alone.

The knowledge required to reach this level is accumulated through countless years by preceding Wizards. If a Wizard were to rely solely on their own research and experiments to create knowledge out of nothing to reach the Domain Level… it would be absolutely impossible within a finite time dimension.

Any Mystical Power advancing to the Domain Level virtually stands on the shoulders of giants before them, relying on the knowledge accumulations painstakingly built up by their countless predecessors, eventually achieving their Domain.

And these knowledge accumulations are the inheritance of the Domain.

However, after so many years of development, especially after the establishment of the Council, the knowledge required to reach this level has been strictly controlled and is only in the possession of extremely few Wizard Organizations, with no possibility of leaking out.

This demonstrates just how precious a Domain inheritance can be.

The Secret Garden is the core of the ancient and dangerous Third-tier Witch Domain hidden within the Decaying Swamp, a particularly special sub-plane secret realm. Its nature is akin to the “Blood-colored Battlefield” in the Ancient Ruins, an independent fragmented space with its own unique rule system within the Main Material Plane.

Such secret realms are typically controlled by the ruling class of the Witch Domain, and the Secret Garden is no exception. It’s filled with Rotten Wood Elder’s Spiritual Imprint, and only he can open it.

This time, the trial for selecting Rotten Wood Elder’s successor will take place in this Secret Garden.

Land of Decay, entrance to the Secret Garden.

This place is not marked on any map, more like a hidden fissure forcibly torn between the main plane and a certain sub-plane.

The entrance is a desolate shore covered with strange black stones, the air thick and heavy with a faint smell of sulfur mixed with decaying vegetation. The surrounding space appears unnaturally distorted.

Light seems to be devoured here, making it exceptionally dim, with only a distant shimmering vortex door, seemingly composed of stardust fragments, providing the only light source—

That is the passage to the “Secret Garden.”

Over the low, oppressive black shore, the thick air feels like solidified grease. Suddenly, a deep and massive sound of wind-breaking approaches, tearing this deathly silence apart!

A massive shadow dives down from the distorted chaotic Void, carrying an intimidating pressure. It’s not the agile flutter of a living being’s wings, but the characteristic heavy flight posture of an Undead Creature, with a sound like metal scraping and a piercing whistle.

It was a gigantic Undead Bone Dragon.

Its enormous skeleton reflected a ghastly and icy texture under the dim light, with hollow eye sockets burning with two flickering ghostly blue Soul Fires like beacons from the Netherworld. Its vast bone wings fully outspread, agitating the dense air with each beat, raising a breeze with a stench of sulfur and decay. The sharp claws at the tip of its wing bones sliced through space, creating a faint, teeth-grating screech.

The Bone Dragon precisely hovered a few meters above the ground, the shadow of its massive skeleton nearly enveloping the Sandbar where several Mystical Wizards were waiting.

Its hollow eye sockets swept over the small figures below, and the ghostly blue Soul Fires flickered slightly with an indifferent scrutiny unique to Undead Creatures. Then, it let out a low growl like a boulder rolling, its massive bone wings suddenly folded shut like two heavy gates clapping shut! The source of thɪs content is 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝✶𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮✶𝓷𝓮𝓽

“Boom!”

The massive bone claws heavily stepped onto the black stone-covered sandbar, emitting a dull thunderous sound, the ground seemed to shake slightly.

The stones under the bone claws instantly turned to powder. The immense impact rolled up a wave of air mixed with sulfur dust and black stone debris, spreading a nauseous rot-smell outward, causing Baggen to uncontrollably frown and turn aside, waving away the dust.

Just at the moment the Bone Dragon landed, a gray figure elegantly floated down from its broad spine as if weightless—Lynch landed steadily, his gray Cloak billowing in the foul winds stirred by the Bone Dragon’s descent, yet strangely unstained by dust.

He gently patted Trans’s cold cervical bone, the latter lowering its massive head, the ghostly blue Soul Fire drawing close to Lynch in silent communication.

The Bone Dragon then gathered away the suffocating Undead pressure, its massive skeleton like a faithful guardian statue, silently standing behind Lynch, its hollow eye sockets vigilantly scanning the distorted space and the others on the sandbar.

At this moment, the sandbar had already gathered quite a few people familiar to Lynch: the Ice Queen Kalsa from the Witch Castle, Baggen from the Green House.

As well as some he wasn’t too familiar with: Sophia from the Dark Emblem, and Jeraf from the Jade Tower.

There was also an unfamiliar face, but judging from the attire and the emblem on his chest, he should be Agit, the Witch Master from the Kassen Corridor, who was absent from the last auction.

Other than Anderson from the Pure White Tower and Kano from the Forest Surroundings, two with whom Lynch had grudges, whom he didn’t see, virtually all Second Tier Mystical Power in the existing Jade Land had gathered here.

“Long time no see, Saphieros Wizard, it’s good to see you again.”

Just as Lynch stepped down, Witch Kalsa approached and greeted him, her attitude warm, even with a hint of modesty.

“Indeed, a Wizard’s time is just like that—scarce yet very long.”

Lynch responded with a smile, while his gaze swept around.

He found not just Witch Kalsa, it seemed that everyone’s eyes present were focused on him, with an obvious sense of awe in their expressions.

What’s going on?

While Lynch was curious, Baggen provided him with the answer.

The elder came over, lightly stroking his beard, and said with a pointed hint: “Something major has happened in the Jade Land not long ago, do you know about it, Saphieros Wizard?”

Lynch asked, puzzled: “What?”

Baggen looked at him and said word by word: “Someone has advanced to the Domain Level!”
