Chapter 550: Chapter 9: Head-to-Head Confrontation
The two Royal Griffins descended with a fierce momentum, where the wave of Light they stirred up clashed violently with the undead aura radiated by Trans over the tidal flat, producing a subtle yet piercing “sizzle”, like fire and water in conflict. Anderson’s pure white figure stood like a beacon beside the golden Griffin, while Kano followed silently like a shadow.
Anderson’s gaze was like a cold probe, scanning the entire scene at the first opportunity, finally locking onto Lynch with undisguised scrutiny and hostility. A cold, provocatively meaningful smile played at the corners of his mouth.
“Well, isn’t it our affluent ’Lord of Fiery Flame’, the Saphieros Wizard?” Anderson’s voice deliberately raised, carrying a sharp tone that was particularly jarring on the silent tidal flat, “I heard that your territory was quite lively recently, with a ’big firework’ that lit up half of Jade Land? Truly… such awe-inspiring power!”
Lynch’s hand paused slightly as he petted Trans’s neck bone, then returned to normal.
Since Anderson knew about the Domain on his side and yet seemed indifferent, even using it to mock him, was Anderson out of his mind? Or was there some sort of backing?
With these thoughts swirling in his mind, Lynch spoke up.
“Witch Master Anderson,” his voice was calm and undisturbed, like an icy blade cutting through the air, “your intelligence is quite resourceful. But instead of worrying about other people’s ’fireworks’, perhaps it’s better to consider whether you can find the candlelight to illuminate your path in Rotten Wood Elder’s garden? After all, some people can’t even keep a mere Crystal Flower Spirit.”
He lightly mentioned the conflict at the auction, directly touching Anderson’s sore spot.
In the past, Lynch might not have bothered to provoke him, deliberately avoiding making unnecessary enemies for himself.
But now, the situation was different.
Since the land-swallowing incident with the four countries passed, their rivalry was out in the open; at this point, there was no possibility of having a harmonious relationship with Anderson, and thus no need to continue enduring.
After all, everyone could see, during the process of inheriting Rotten Wood, neither side would easily let the other go.
Anderson’s fake smile froze instantly, a flicker of anger flashing in his eyes. His pure white cloak flapped without wind, and a sharp spiritual pressure like invisible spikes suddenly stabbed towards Lynch! The air seemed to thicken with an overwhelming sense of oppression.
“Hmph! Sharp-tongued!” Anderson’s voice was pressed with fury, “As for the Crystal Flower Spirit, I’ve got my own plan. But you, Saphiro, hiding and not even daring to acknowledge the things emerging in your own domain?
“That Light Power, it suits you, a ’Death God’ toying with the undead, perfectly! One lights up the living, the other buries the dead?” His words were malicious and sharp, trying to forcibly associate Lynch with the mysterious Light Domain while belittling the essence of his power.
“Boom!”
A more cold, deathly, soul-freezing terrifying pressure erupted from Lynch! The gray cloak fluttered madly, and the black gravel beneath his feet was crushed into finer powder by invisible force.
Trans’s soul fire blazed fiercely, with a low, thunderous roar, and its huge bone wings slightly unfolded, exuding a strong threatening aura. In Lynch’s deep eyes, it was as if a vortex of death was swirling.
This pure, extremely concentrated death pressure, like an invisible heavy hammer, viciously smashed against Anderson’s spiritual spikes!
“Sizzle——!”
An even more piercing sound of energy friction exploded in the air! Two oppositely directed, equally powerful Mystical Power Fields engaged in an intense duel on an invisible level! The air over the tidal flat seemed torn, and even the light experienced minor distortions. Baggen and Kano, standing nearby, involuntarily stepped back half a pace, showing serious expressions on their faces.
“I don’t need Witch Master Anderson to worry about what my power is.” Lynch’s voice was as cold as Nine Netherworld Ice, with every word seemingly laced with icy shards.
“As for what happens within my Fiery Flame Witch Domain, that’s an internal affair of mine, Saphiro. Isn’t the Pure White Tower stretching its hand a bit too far? Or are you…” He paused just slightly, his gaze like icy daggers piercing into Anderson, “…you, Anderson, trying to interrogate me on behalf of the Supreme Council?”
The final sentence raised the conflict to a level of Rules, implying Anderson’s overstepping into his Witch Domain’s internal affairs.
Anderson’s face turned ashen, with his body slightly tense beneath the pure white cloak. He had not anticipated that Lynch’s counterattack would be so adamant, directly accusing him of meddling in internal affairs. Though his intention was to probe, Lynch’s blatant confrontation left him at a disadvantage.
“Hmph!” Anderson forced down his anger, let out a cold snort, and withdrew his Spiritual Field, “Sharp-tongued, hope your skill is as strong as your words! When you enter the Secret Garden, don’t expect anyone to collect your corpse!” He left a harsh remark, without looking at Lynch again, turned towards that eerie blue Vortex Door, but the cold fury radiating from him showed no sign of diminishing.
Lynch also slowly retracted that terrifying deathly pressure, and Trans let out a low growl, then quieted down again. He no longer paid Anderson any mind, instead, his gaze also fell on that swirling blue portal, as if the earlier confrontation had never happened.
However, the remnant spiritual clashing wave and tense atmosphere on the tidal flat clearly told everyone present—the antagonism between the Pure White Tower and the Fiery Flame Witch Domain has been thoroughly publicized, reaching an irreconcilable state!
Sophia watched with eyes glowing, covering her mouth as she chuckled lightly: “Oh my, it was truly spectacular! The stage is set even before entering the garden~” Her tone was full of schadenfreude.
Jeraf frowned slightly, looking at the two in confrontation, then glanced at that deep entrance, a trace of worry flashing in his eyes.
Kalsa was expressionless, but an almost imperceptible chill flickered in her ice-blue eyes. Baggen grinned, his fiery red beard quivering, seemingly feeling a touch of delight at Anderson’s embarrassment. Agit remained silent and sullen, but his eyes darted back and forth between Anderson and Lynch, as if assessing something.
They stayed waiting in place, until a certain moment.
Suddenly—
“Gurgle… gurgle…”
At the edge of the tidal flat, a seemingly solid piece of land, covered sparsely with black moss, suddenly softened and collapsed without warning! Sticky, gray-green bubble-laden sludge surged up like boiling thick soup, emitting a strong pungent stench mixed with decayed vegetation and toxic miasma, turning into a swamp.
The swamp expanded rapidly, with sticky sludge concealing the faintly visible white bones of animals which surfaced and then slowly sank back. ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝✶𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮✶𝓷𝓮𝓽
“Splash—!!!”
Accompanied by a loud explosion as the sludge erupted, a massive, suffocating shadow burst through the filthy swamp, soaring into the sky!
It was clearly…
