Chapter 348: There’s Nowhere To Run
Xiang Li watched from behind a tree as numerous cultivators flew off toward a certain direction.
“That direction, Ye Chen?” she wondered aloud.
She held her chin, wondering if he had misunderstood her. She hoped he hadn’t done something reckless, otherwise, her plan to create a connection in the central continent would fail.
“Now, what should I do?” she wondered as she began walking in the opposite direction.
She raised her hand, and the tower materialized on her palm.
After repairing the treasure, Xiang Yu had incorporated a heavenly grade spatial rune. This rune would enable him to teleport the treasure effortlessly among his clones. While the rune’s original purpose was to summon the treasure across space, using it among his clones allowed him to transport it between them.
He had implemented this feature specifically for this situation, enabling him to conduct raids across both the Eastern and Central Continents without worry. If his understanding of space deepened further, he might eventually create some form of dimensional storage and return the tower to the sect.
For now however, he still needed to use this method.
Xiang Li appeared atop a tree.
She licked her lips, “hehehe, look at that beauty, it’s a high-grade spirit vein,” she thought.
She surveyed the surroundings, noticing the area was surprisingly empty. Many cultivators seemed to be flying toward that direction, making her increasingly nervous. Could it be that Ye Chen was really stirring up trouble? Surely not, right?
Regardless, she intended to use this opportunity to get some additional benefits, just in case her investment in him failed to yield results. She leaped down from the tree and landed softly on the ground, carefully scanning in all directions before proceeding further.
Reaching into the tower, she retrieved two formation disks.
She reminded herself that despite the apparent absence of people, extra caution was necessary. These disks were for first-grade illusion and concealment formations, ensuring no one would notice her uprooting the spirit vein.
After installing the formation disks, she swiftly began extracting the spirit vein. In mere seconds, she completed the task, quickly gathered up the formation equipment, and teleported away from the location.
Just moments later, a middle-aged man with a sturdy frame appeared at the exact spot where she had been. “What the hell? It actually grew legs and walked away this time,” he exclaimed in disbelief.
Meanwhile, a few miles away, Xiang Li materialized. She thought to herself that the operation had gone even better than anticipated. Now she just needed to repeat this process a few more times and she could return without any regrets.
…
Li Yao glanced at Xiang Yu.
“Who is it?” she thought, reaching for her sword.
She paused before she could draw it, taking some breaths to calm herself. She thought to herself that her senior brother’s clone was probably having troubles getting to the flower. She wondered if he was captured.
“Senior brother, are you having trouble reaching the flower?” she asked.
Xiang Yu, still manipulating the formations to launch continuous attacks toward Tianling, smiled nervously.
“Yeah, somewhat,” he said.
He thought to himself that her senses were as sharp as always.
“But it’s okay, I think I can still make it on time,” he said, his cheeks reddening slightly.
“Senior brother, even if it’s a desperate situation, selling your body is a little…” she began, causing Xiang Yu to almost lose control of the formations.
“What selling body?” he retorted.
He then noticed that his reaction was a little sus so he breathed to calm himself, “I’m just looking for a different method,” he said.
“Ah, I see,” Li Yao said, covering her face in embarrassment.
[-_-]
Xiang Yu thought to himself that his junior sister was really perceptive. No, what perceptive, he wasn’t selling his body.
“Haven’t you grown tired of this trick?” Tianling asked as she deflected the attacks.
Xiang Yu thought to himself that he was worried for nothing at first.
Ever since she used that time law move the first time, she hadn’t used it again since.
He smiled, “It seems it’s quite an expensive move,” he thought.
She was probably just using it to intimidate them. As long as he kept this up, they should be able to hold her off for at least another ten seconds. That’s, of course, unless she decides to flip out and go all out, which would be really bad for them.
Tianling, on the other hand, was furious.
“What the hell is this,” she wondered. Just these few seconds she had been here, Xiang Yu had activated those heavenly grade formations at least a hundred times. Just how many spirit stones did they have? She had thought he could just do it a few times, but now this was insane.
She thought to herself that she needed to change her strategy.
Otherwise, she might remain here forever.
Looking at the defensive formations around the sect, to destroy them, she would have to reinforce herself with her immortal qi as her body refining wasn’t that high. She really didn’t want to spend her immortal qi at the moment as she didn’t have much of it left and she would probably need it to access her law in case those guys from the central continent decided to join in the fun after both sides had exhausted themselves.
She gritted her teeth. Well, fuck it, she didn’t care anymore. She was still using the qi to defend herself anyway so what did it matter if she used it now? In the long run, she’d be more at loss if she continued playing defense.
As Xiang Yu was about to activate the attacking formations once again, Tianling suddenly let out a roar. Then his attacks froze in place.
In that instant, she appeared right before the barrier, placing her hand on it.
“Oh no,” Xiang Yu thought as he saw the first to the third barrier instantly shatter. “Come on, just one more second,” he thought as the rest of the barriers started cracking. “Come on… just a little more,” he thought.
“Senior brother?” Li Yao called out, reaching for her sword.
“Just a…” Before he could finish, the last barrier broke and Tianling appeared right before his face.
“There’s nowhere left to run now, pretty boy.”
