Chapter 411: Upgrade
“Haha…” Rael scratched his cheek. “Sure, why not?”
He stood up and walked over to the altar, maintaining his calm expression.
“Good, I like your spirit.” Tyrion chuckled, then picked up the pot of holy water and poured all of it into the altar.
The aromas from earlier began to clash. But instead of the array’s effects growing stronger, a giant chalice suddenly emerged, containing a pitch-black liquid.
It didn’t smell like anything, and that was what alarmed Rael.
But thanks to his Primordial Sight, he had the means of inspecting the chalice, and that was exactly what he did.
—Midnight Potion (Legendary)
Description: A failed attempt at brewing a Holy Dew potion. Puts the user into eternal rest. Effect increases substantially against demons or those with a considerable amount of negative emotions. Acts as a special tonic for Dream-Based targets, increasing their Dreaming capabilities significantly.
Tyrion wore a warm smile, almost like he was passing water to Rael, when in reality, he had just tried to kill him.
So he noticed when I started burning, Rael mused. I wonder why he didn’t say anything to Silas. Though I guess he did hide it better than I did.
After all, Rael’s body was slightly steaming at the time, so it was no surprise someone might have picked up on that.
But for Tyrion to so directly try to kill him, it was a bit comical, to say the least.
“This is a concoction that will make all your problems go away forever,” Tyrion said. “And since you are the guest of honor in this instance, you may take the biggest sip to commemorate this occasion.”
[Pft…hahahaha.] Burger burst out laughing. [This guy doesn’t know what’s coming, does he?]
Rael held back a chuckle and proceeded to pick up the chalice before turning toward the soldiers.
He raised the chalice in a toast.
Yet he couldn’t help but glance toward Silas, who was pointing at his own throat, as if signifying for Rael not to drink the potion.
However…
“Thank you for this gracious opportunity,” Rael said, and without wasting even a single moment, he began gulping down the Midnight Potion.
At first, people expected him to only take one or two gulps, but Rael continued for a third, a fourth, and eventually, he made it all the way over to the tenth gulp.
And the moment he did that, a lustrous, straight black horn emerged from the right side of his forehead, shining proudly.
It was summoned by accident, and a faint pulse spread from the tip of his horn, almost like an invisible sound wave.
And with it, several accidental debuffs were directed at all the people present.

The moment that pop-up fell, the surroundings turned chilly, yet that chill only grew and grew.
Soon, small icicles formed on the seats of those present, and a moment later, snow fell from the ceiling.
But that was only the tip of the iceberg as one by one, the soldiers lifelessly fell to the floor or collapsed in their seats.
Even Theo wasn’t spared as he suddenly slammed his head down onto the floor. Unlike the weak-willed soldiers, he didn’t die. Instead, he simply passed out.
The seats turned into ice and shattered under the weight of those seated upon them. The windows all around them cracked, letting bits of the red moonlight shine into the room.
Yet it was mainly focused on Rael, who, despite everything happening, hadn’t stopped drinking the Midnight Potion.
The conditions in the room began to worsen, slowly spreading out beyond it into the rest of the palace, then seeping into the city, covering the streets in frost.
Civilians panicked, but coincidentally, the frost managed to cover nearly every single bit of the city except for where the Dimensional Shop was.
Spires of ice burst forth, but then just as quickly fell as all the ice returned back into the palace.
It all happened so fast, and before Rael knew it, the ice had fully vanished, having been absorbed into his pitch-black horn.
And with the last sip, the windows cracked, causing the red moonlight to shine down on Rael from every single nook and cranny, further illuminating his lustrous horn, which after a few moments, sank back into his forehead.
Rael was dazed, but it didn’t take long for him to snap out of it as he glanced around the ceremony room.
There were many lifeless soldiers, some who died with their hands extended toward him. And then there was the supposed King Tyrion behind the altar, whose complexion was as pale as a ghost’s, but even then, he was still alive, just barely.
Weird… Rael scratched the back of his head. Burger, what happened?
[You don’t remember?] Burger mused.
He shook his head.
The last thing I remember is me drinking the potion. It tasted good, though, so that’s something, Rael replied. I should’ve gotten some boons too, so… Hm?

“…” Rael stared at the pop-ups speechlessly.
Not only did his Primordial Skill get a massive buff, but he also got some extremely overpowered Dream-related abilities.
Numbers 1 and 3 were extremely useful, but the second one was something Rael had been looking forward to for a long time.
With this kind of ability, he could finally start gaining Divinity.
All I’d need to do is act like a wish-fulfilling prophet and place my Dimensional Shops into the minds of people.
He would go by a different persona, obviously. But in the end, he now had all he needed, and the only thing left was to finish this Hollow Throne succession trial.
All of a sudden, he heard someone clap, and when he turned toward that noise, he spotted Silas Gernot staring at him with a faint smile.
“Now that was quite the performance,” Silas said, rising from his seat and slowly approaching Rael.
He stopped right in front of him, and after a brief chuckle, he spoke.
“I believe we ought to have a little chat about what just happened and why you came here in the first place, Ancient Demon.”
