Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 503 - Capítulo 503: Run Out

Capítulo 503: Run Out

“Let’s see here…” Rael put both of his hands over his temples, imagining Lucien falling into a ditch or something.

However, there was no reaction from his end. No mana drained, and definitely no probability altered.

Yet for some reason, at the thought of probability, the Fate Threads inside his brain began to tingle. Because of that, Rael put his focus on them, and to his genuine surprise, he realized some threads were thicker, while others were thin.

At first, he tried tugging at them in an attempt to somehow draw their power, but after just a couple of minutes, Rael realized something.

“A meatier thread might mean a higher probability,” Rael thought out loud. “So what if I drain the meatier thread into the thinner one? That’s like…”

He immediately thought of scales, and with that in mind, Rael decided to manifest exactly what he was thinking.

The Prophetic Realm was dark, but after just a single thought, a large scale appeared. One side was heavier than the other, by quite a large margin.

And to his surprise, atop the scale, it was written what exactly this probability was.

[Probability of you falling in the next 5 minutes.]

“That’s a little… Yeah.” Rael sighed. “The description does say I can only gently alter the probabilities. Is that what it meant?”

If that really was the case, then he couldn’t do much at all. But since there were so many Fate Threads inside his brain, all he had to do was find one related to Lucien.

And oh boy, he didn’t expect it to take as long as it did, because by the time he was done, he felt like a few months had passed.

He had to comb through every single Fate Thread and put it on the scale to see the name. To put it plainly, it was a pain in the ass, and he would most definitely work on adding a search function to this in the future.

Even so, after such a long search, he finally found what he was looking for.

[Probability of Lucien meeting Solenne.][Probability of Lucien escaping the Willow realm.][Probability of Lucien altering your memories.]

Three of the ones that were the most important to him, at least at the moment. He also tried to find the one for Vatyra, so she had less of a chance to attack him.

But finding that is even harder… I looked for ages and I couldn’t even find Vatyra’s name. I could look for longer, but at this point, I’m convinced it’s not in here, Rael thought, putting that aside as he weighed each of the probabilities on his scale.

Starting with Lucien meeting Solenne, Rael proceeded to levitate upwards, arriving at the point where he could overlook the scales. As expected, although one side weighed more than the other, whatever was on those sides was completely invisible.

Nonetheless, Rael focused on the heavier scale. Then, with only a single thought, he imagined the probability shifting onto the other scale, the lighter one.

The moment he had that thought, however, a pop-up appeared, halting him in place for a moment.

<Ding!>

So I have to be careful with what I try to manipulate, is that it? Rael mused, nodding to himself. Seems pretty straightforward. It’s not like I would ever alter these probabilities back to what they were.

With that final thought in mind, Rael committed to his earlier thought of draining the heavier scale. Thankfully, it worked wonders as the lighter scale began to slowly rise. Eventually, it towered over the previously heavy scale, and all that cost Rael was a small headache that he soon got over.

It was a bit confusing that he could do this with just ‘gentle’ probability alteration, but he didn’t hate overpowered boons. He simply went ahead and altered the probabilities of the other two scenarios, and when he was done, he stashed those three outcomes in the bottom-most part of his brain.

That way, if he were to ever need to check it out and see if it had been altered without his intent, then he could do so without having to search through his entire brain.

Though nothing assures me they’re just going to stay after I retract my Fate Threads from my brain… But oh well… Here’s to hoping. Rael chuckled.

All of a sudden, a trickle of blood ran down his nose as a certain weakness enveloped him.

<Ding!>

“…Pardon?”

<…>

“Hey… What?” Rael tilted his head, not grasping what had just happened. He felt a little weak, sure. But fatal? How was any of this fatal? Fresh chapters posted on novel_fіre.net

As he began to wonder, the Fate Threads slowly left his brain. In the meantime, however, Gaia’s soothing voice rang out inside his mind.

[Think of it as your organ shutting down. Since mana and health stem from the heart, running out of one resource is the same as having a heart attack,] Gaia said. [Most people die on the spot when their reserves run dry, but with your extreme speed of regeneration, the system found a loophole.]

“…”

“Did you know about the loophole?” Rael asked skeptically.

Gaia giggled softly. [I was the one who suggested that loophole to the system. Don’t worry about your health. So long as you have me by your side, you can consider yourself partially immortal.]

The reassurance alone was enough for Rael to feel a certain warmth course through his heart. Gaia’s assistance and her caring personality were really something he had taken notice of, and he couldn’t help but enjoy this feeling of care.

“Thank you,” Rael expressed genuinely. “I won’t forget this, Gaia. Also, with me now not being able to use mana, Lucien can probably take advantage of me now, can’t he?”

He could practically hear the smile on Gaia’s face.

[Burger and I will take care of that… Also, the first outcome you saw when you looked into this particular future was the continuation of what you just did. Basically, a direct future taking into account your thought process was displayed. It’s a helpful ability, but… Never mind, we’ll speak later.]

With those words, her voice faded. Just as Rael had begun to wonder why she had cut off, his vision returned, and he was met with Lucien, who continued to make up stories about his childhood, acting as if Rael literally didn’t have the ability to tell apart lies.
