Chapter 520: Overwhelming
“Aw…” Rael pouted as blood dripped down his nose. He felt a little disoriented, and he knew for a fact he should hold off on the construct creation.
Aside from that, he had spent the last few seconds crafting Chop-D’s over and over again, and it seemed like in the end, 1 billion constructs inside the Mind Realm was his current limit.
The swords too… But they seem to drain close to nothing. I really need to start crafting again if I want to build up my resilience, Rael thought with determination and raised his hand confidently.
Then, he brought it down and spoke.
“Attack and bring down that shadow.”
It was plain, and only a few words without any actual motivation. But to the 1 billion Chop-D’s that were like droplets below him, they heard the order loud and clear as they began swarming Solenne’s shadow from all directions.
However, the shadow easily dispatched his constructs, with most not even being able to take a step within her reach. But when a single construct managed to close the distance by a sheer miracle, its attack passed right through the shadow, causing Rael’s brows to furrow.
So even if its affinity’s effectiveness is only 5% of what it should be, it still can’t be hit by normal attacks… I’m about to do something, so Gaia, can you lock the Mind Realm? Rael asked.
[Are you sure?] Gaia replied, shocked.
Of course. If that thing runs away, then this would be a solid opportunity wasted, Rael said.
[Hmm… Okay. I’ll trust you, and I’ll eject you out of there the moment something goes wrong,] Gaia replied softly.
Rael chuckled. If that thing isn’t dead by the time the minute is up, you can pull me out.
He heard a giggle escape from her end, and in the next instant, a pulse escaped his body, covering the entire Mind Realm in a transparent bubble.
<Ding!>
Rael smiled, and then waved his hand, expending a small amount of Mental Integrity toward the shadow.
Or rather, it only seemed small, when all of a sudden, a large sun appeared above the shadow, tracking its every movement.
It moved confidently as it slayed his constructs with ease. That was when one of his constructs managed to enter its range again without being killed.
The shadow didn’t pay the construct any mind, and because of that, it suffered a single gash across its waist. This time, the attack didn’t pass through it, and that was all because of the sun which was above it.
I made sure it turned off that shitty immunity to physical attacks. But of course, that’s not all I did.
Out of that gash on its waist, black blood spewed out like a fountain, causing the shadow to momentarily halt.
And at the same time, Rael was finally able to see the shadow’s Mental Integrity, which immediately made him want to pick up a knife and stab himself through the abdomen.
<???’s Mental Integrity: 155,948% → 155,942%>
How is that fair?
[You have an infinite amount, jackass.] Vatyra sighed. [You have 52 seconds left on that overpowered ability of yours, so use it already.]
Rael nodded, and realized that leaving it all up to his constructs wasn’t the play.
By now, out of the 1 billion, nearly 40 million had died already.
I could summon more of them probably, but then I’d be risking some severe backlash. I’m better off using my Mental Integrity instead.
And that was exactly what he did.
Five more massive suns appeared overhead. Each one had different effects, but they all served to debuff and slow down the shadow in various ways.
Not only that, Rael proceeded to summon giant chains around the shadow. The chains multiplied into several thousand, all of which would’ve cost him nearly 5,000 Mental Integrity per chain.
They were about to bind the shadow, but that was when the shadow finally reacted.
<???’s Mental Integrity: 155,942% → 130,000%>
It had spent over 25,000 Mental Integrity in one go. What followed was a completely white scythe manifesting out of thin air. It radiated a dangerous amount of mana, and although Rael was technically immortal, he didn’t want to get cut by that.
And it seemed like the shadow didn’t even bother aiming at him. Instead, it performed one extremely swift swing, shattering every single chain he had summoned.
It raised the scythe again, and right as it was about to bring it down on all of his Chop-D’s, Rael intervened.
Clenching his hand toward the scythe, he suddenly cracked it in two. To his surprise, he felt immediate backlash as more blood began to flow from his nose. He felt weaker, but despite that, Rael wiped the blood away and refocused.
The shattered pieces of the scythe fell into the shallow water and sunk out of view.
As for the shadow, it let out an obnoxious laugh.
“You are very bold for trying to attempt something like this, but your current boost in power more than justifies your attempt. However, do you think—”
“Oh, shut up.” Rael scoffed. “You’re just trying to waste time.”
The moment he said those words, Rael clapped his hands together.
In an instant, his constructs all flew toward the shadow and surrounded it.
Since it had no sword to cut them down, all it could use was its body like it had done previously.
But unlike last time, it didn’t have the range and speed advantage, as after all, the constructs were right in front of it.
The constructs attacked it relentlessly, forming multiple cuts that spewed out black blood, and Mental Integrity.
<???’s Mental Integrity: 130,000% → 128,255%>
But it’s not enough. Rael deduced. At the rate I’m going, I won’t be able to bring it down since it takes around 3-4 seconds for the constructs to chip away 2,000 Mental Integrity.
So like before, Rael began using his infinite Mental Integrity. Just this time, he didn’t use it to summon something. Instead, he decided to directly interact with the shadow. Nᴇw ɴovel chaptᴇrs are published on novel·fıre·net
And he did so by teleporting behind it.
The shadow reacted, swinging its arm at his neck. Yet Rael didn’t even dodge and let the attack connect, causing a powerful shockwave to fly out in one direction, killing several million Chop-D’s in an instant.
And yet, there wasn’t even a scratch on Rael’s neck.
Rael stared at the shadow coldly, and then grabbed its hand, twisting it.
There were no bones, and its shadowy form felt like rubber. It didn’t even make a sound or any kind of pained groan. Even if this was the Mind Realm, the feeling of pain was real, which made this shadow feel like some sort of doll.
Yet for a doll, it didn’t back down as it struck his face with its free hand again and again, killing dozens of Chop-D’s behind him.
But then he grabbed the shadow’s remaining hand, and bound its legs with thousands of chains.
The shadow tried to squirm out of his grasp, even moving its head in an attempt to do something.
Not only that, it also began casting all sorts of skills that seemed destructive and expensive at a glance.
<???’s Mental Integrity: 128,255% → 112,772%>
But to Rael, these attacks did nothing. He kind of wished he had gone for this approach against Alene instead of letting his army do most of the fighting. Granted, she could still damage him slightly back then. Not now though.
His army of Chop-D’s was still actively stabbing the shadow and making its blood gush out. Rael willed the blood to come out faster, and as expected, the shadow’s Mental Integrity went down quicker.
<???’s Mental Integrity: 112,772% → 111,413%>
<???’s Mental Integrity: 111,413% → 110,029%>
<???’s Mental Integrity: 110,029% → 109,487%>
Around 1k loss per second. That’s not bad, Rael thought, and then glanced at the shadowy figure’s face. But that’s not why I got up so close and personal.
All of a sudden,
<???’s Mental Integrity: 109,487% → 101,221%>
<???’s Mental Integrity: 101,221% → 92,142%>
Just as he had done with Alene, he began forcing the shadow’s Mental Integrity to zap away at a rapid rate.
And yet, the shadow simply stopped resisting and let out a sigh.
“Looks like you got me.”
“Mhm.” Rael rolled his eyes. “It looks to me like you should ask Solenne to give you some acting lessons.”
The shadow tilted its head slightly. “Whatever do you mean? I am unable to do anything against you. I resign myself to my fate as the moment I die… Hahaha… I see now…”
As if it had just gotten a revelation, the shadow lowered its head.
In the next instant, its head opened up slightly, revealing a completely white marble that floated out and hovered right in front of Rael’s face.
He felt something off about this whole ordeal, and he also knew for a fact that this fight had been way too easy.
Even if he was technically all-powerful here, the shadow was a being that was on the level of a Grade 8 Primordial God. By no means would it throw the fight like this.
And what the shadow did next only deepened his suspicions.
A pearly white smile appeared in place of its other dark features as it cheerfully spoke.
“Break that, and I die.”
