Chapter 585: Ripple Effect [ 1 ]

<Ding!>

<Congratulations, you have passed the Third Trial.>

<Next trial in…>

<48 hours.>

The portal out was a plain blue swirly bob that he passed through, and when he arrived on the other side, he found himself standing in the place he had been before he was teleported.

That place was, of course, none other than the grass by a pond. It was the most peaceful place here, but after what just happened, he wasn’t feeling very well.

Gaia… I need your input on this, Rael said, sitting down. No matter how much I wrack my head around this… I can’t figure it out. Just what happened? If he can interfere with fate and time so easily, then does that mean that Solenne can too?

[Calm down,] Gaia replied slowly. [When you’re riled up, you tend to overlook the simplest of things… In this case, however, even I am slightly baffled.]

[Might I say a word?] Anna chimed in.

Rael nodded. Go ahead.

[Could you bring up that pop-up from nearly 970 years ago?]

“…”

Could you be a bit more specific?

[She’s talking about the karma leaderboard,] Gaia replied. [She’s… a little smarter than she lets on. So can you pull it up?]

Rael stared blankly at the pond for a moment, then went into the premium shop.

•—Premium Shop—•

Category: Information/Negative Karma/Leaderboard/Current Universe/Top 5

•—Balance: 484,992 Premium Coins—•

• ??? (???): 50 Premium Coins

Is this what you’re talking about? Rael asked.

Looking back on it, he remembered most of the names, but he also remembered one pop-up in particular that stood out the most.

He upgraded the Premium Shop, so…

[Buy it,] Gaia and Anna said in unison.

And after staring at it for a few more seconds, that was exactly what he did.

A shiver ran down his spine as an uncomfortable feeling ran through his body. It was as if a spider was crawling on him, but that feeling soon went away, replaced by a few pop-ups.

He was expecting them to be similar to last time, yet he couldn’t be further off.

1. ???, The One Beyond Time

I don’t know the fifth, fourth or the third, but…

The One Beyond Time stood out to him the most, mainly because of what just happened not too long ago.

But that wasn’t the only person who stood out.

The second person was named Melissa. Coincidentally, in the Memory Record, the Melissa he met controlled shadows.

It really was her. He was sure of it.

But upon that realization came another.

He abruptly rose from the ground, an ominous feeling welling up in his chest.

[Yeah… We think so too,] Gaia said. [Your parents are… your wives are fine, your son is in good hands, and other than that, she is the only person in this whole universe who you care about. I don’t want to make any rash assumptions, but I think she’s the one who’s being targeted.]

[I agree with her. If Solenne is anything, then she’s a vindictive manipulator who does not care about anyone but herself. Since you have already made a move on her, I believe she is going to use this opportunity to make a move on you,] Anna chimed in.

Hearing the opinion of both women, Rael couldn’t help but feel a wave of helplessness suddenly wash over him.

Why hadn’t he thought about her when Lucien mentioned someone he cared about?

Is it too late? Rael paced around the pond. If me not being able to see the future is any indication, then it’s highly likely Solenne already has Melissa… Does she?

[Calm down,] Gaia sighed. [Be rational about this. For starters, why don’t you try contacting her with one of the communication orbs?]

He could do that. Imagining her the way he saw her in the Memory Record wasn’t difficult, so he did just that.

A spatial communication bubble appeared in his hands, but then there was another problem. Actually activating it.

I need a woman… Rael scanned the entire palace and soon realized there wasn’t a single woman aside from Anastasia present.

So he turned to his other companions.

Anna?

[I’m a shadow,] she replied plainly.

Uhh… right. Then, Gaia?

[I don’t even have a body,] she said, exhausted.

Right as Rael was about to actually seek out Anastasia, he remembered something…

• Mommy’s Healing Smooch (Uncommon): 75,000 Trell

I-I never thought I’d be buying this again.

But desperate times called for desperate measures.

So when he bought it, a small portal appeared in front of him, and through it, a curvy woman appeared, looking the exact same as last time.

“Hmm? What’s up with you, lad? You injured?” she asked kindly.

She even has the same phrases. Damn.

Rael pointed at the orb. ᴛhis chapter is ᴜpdated by novel⦿fire.net

“Could you place your hand on this?”

“…”

The woman glanced at it, then met his gaze skeptically.

“Boy, I’ve lost count of the number of times people tried to marry me. If you don’t need a heal, then I’ll see myself out.”

“What? No, it’s not like that,” Rael replied with wide eyes and quickly gave her a rundown of the situation.

After he was done, while she was still skeptical, she was more willing this time.

“Fine… but I swear if you’re tricking me, I’m going to collect your balls as a trophy,” the woman said and placed her hand atop the bubble.

It immediately turned on, causing Rael’s expression to light up.

“That about do it?” the woman asked.

“It did, thanks a ton,” Rael replied, and right as he stopped paying attention to her and was about to connect to Melissa, he felt a peck on his cheek.

Turning around in surprise, he saw the woman sporting a cheeky grin.

“Since you don’t need a heal, you get a kiss instead. Oh, and you look much better than you did the first time I met you. But enough about that, bye~”

Without being able to utter a word, he watched as her figure faded through the portal.

He wasn’t sure whether to be more surprised about the fact that she could remember him or the fact that she acted this cheeky…

Either way, he put those thoughts aside and got back on track.

It’s time to contact my sister.
