Chapter 729: In Construction
“F-Fine… Yes, those are the rules. But hey, before you do something drastic, these Dragon God rules have been in place since the birth of the dragon race. I understand disregarding the other rules, but this one is serious,” Astaroth said.
Rael stared at him for a moment, then shrugged.
Serious it may be, if it was the only way to do something without having to go through endless amounts of bullshit, then Rael felt like he might want to take his chances on this one thing.
And seeing that, Astaroth merely let out a sigh of annoyance, realizing that there was no way he could sway Rael once he had already set his mind to it.
So for a few moments, Astaroth just stared at him, until finally giving in.
“Alright… Dragon Gods are in the center of the Dragon Realm. They live together, since living with their tribes would make them a little too special or something. Either way, if you want to find them, that’s where you’ll be able to.”
Rael tilted his head.
“And whereabouts is the center of the Dragon Realm?”
Astaroth smiled.
“Wait one day until I recover my powers, and I’ll show you. Until then, why don’t you make yourself comfortable and relax. After all, from what I saw, you haven’t been taking many breaks as of late. Powerful dragon I may be, I still require breaks.”
Victoria nodded from the side.
“You can stay in the tribe for a bit if you want. I don’t particularly mind. I’ll get your situation sorted with the rest of the Fate Dragons.”
Hearing that, Rael paused for a moment.
As it stood, he kind of wished he could just go there right away, but taking a day off every now and again seemed fine.
After all, he hadn’t seen much of the Dragon Realm, as instead of admiring it, he was going from one place to another, simply ticking off tasks and trying to rush through things.
While that was what he was initially going for…
“Sure.”
Why not.
Astaroth let out a hearty chuckle and then pointed at the Fate Dragon mountains.
And just like that, the three of them flew away, and after a few seconds, they arrived at the base of the mountains.
The Fate Dragons, and the guards in particular, were scrambled, since they were still searching for him.
It was a little funny how this supposedly very powerful tribe was so disorganized.
But seeing that, Victoria wasn’t exactly happy.
So instead of flying down, she rose up higher, and then cleared her throat.
In the next instant, she spoke, her voice thundering across the entire Fate Dragon mountain range.
“You incompetent shits… Go back to your posts now. Every one of you is going to go through severe training once I’m done with my own affairs. Prepare your bodies until then, since every one who fails will be personally exiled and tossed over to the Nature Dragons!”
The mountains shook at her words, and the few Fate Dragons that caught sight of her immediately paled.
It was as though they had heard the worst news of their lives.
And honestly… if Rael heard that the leader of his race was suddenly going to give him a training exercise, he sure as shit knew he was going to go through torture.
But oh well…
Although he was a Fate Dragon, he wasn’t with these people.
Still, since everything was said and done, Victoria began to descend, and so Rael and Astaroth followed her.
At first, Rael thought they would be heading down into her throne room, when in reality, she slipped inside one of the caves behind the biggest mountain.
To Rael’s surprise, there was a whole city dug out here, or rather, only the buildings, a few playgrounds, and… well, some technology.
It didn’t look like it was finished, but it sure as shit was nice to look at.
Rael whistled in amusement, and just then, Victoria spoke up.
“This is a little side project of mine. The Fate Dragons pride themselves on sleeping on mountains and open caves. I like it too, as it makes me feel more free, but… the baby dragons in particular grow up with diseases because of how cold it is.”
She lowered her head.
“Their bodies, although powerful, are still not sufficient enough to handle such low temperatures. Among many other things, I believe this little city would help them survive until they mature.”
It was surprisingly sweet, and something Rael didn’t really expect from Victoria.
Or rather, he didn’t expect it at all from any dragon.
After all, being out in the open would make them look more powerful, baby dragon or not.
“Oho, you remind me of myself, dear wife,” Astaroth remarked with a chuckle.
Both Rael and Victoria thought he would go into more details, but instead, he just began walking around and admiring the city.
“How has no one discovered this?” Rael asked.
Victoria shrugged.
“There’s an illusion surrounding this cave. No one can see it aside from you two and me.”
“An illusion, huh?”
No wonder.
Rael could see through illusions, after all.
“You can stay here for a day,” Victoria said. “You can go out too if you wish, but… no one will bother you here.”
Rael nodded at her.
“Yeah, there’s some stuff I want to do, so might as well.”
He fell silent for a moment, then raised a brow.
“Wait, can’t you two become Dragon Gods now?”
Victoria’s brow twitched.
“Marriage in the dragon race is sacred… It’s not even about rules anymore. Even though I collected Astaroth like a trophy, I intend to treat him as my actual husband.”
Of course, she clocked him right away.
Rael was going to tell them to just rush their marriage so he could meet the Dragon Gods without any worry.
Well…
It was a good plan for a couple solid seconds.
“Do you mind if I just rest anywhere?” Rael asked.
Victoria nodded.
“Feel free to consider yourself at home. Astaroth and I will be heading back up, as there’s a lot we need to talk about.”
Rael just waved his hand at them, chose one of the random buildings, and then proceeded to sit down.
Although he was a little lazy…
He kind of wanted to get a teeny tiny power up, so for starters, he decided to check out his Neural Core.
