“A city? Why would I care about a city?” Linlin replied, puzzled.
Heh.
If only she knew what kind of city he was talking about.
It was none other than the super city he had started building in the barbarian lands.
There were a bunch of constructs building stuff, and he had also been receiving hourly updates on the progress.
For one…
<The construction project is 55% done.>
They were using his money very nicely.
After all, people who literally had a chunk of his stats should be doing this much, since they were moving at several thousand times the speed of light.
Basically, they were the best builders in the whole universe, and Rael just hoped they weren’t building total dogshit.
“You should listen to him. That city’s pretty fun, and I believe you’ve never seen anything like it. At least, not in this world,” Nyx said from the side.
Linlin still seemed puzzled by the whole thing, but Qiqi was especially excited.
“I’ll go!”
“No you won’t.”
“Yes I will!”
Rael smiled.
“I guess Qiqi’s decided to go, so you’ll go. Come here~”
In the next instant, Rael enveloped every single person there in his mana and abruptly teleported them over to the barbarian lands.
He teleported them to the very entrance of the whole land, where players previously couldn’t enter.
However, unlike the usual barbarian lands that were just filled with some cool mountain homes and tents, there was now a large city floating in the sky.
Most of the buildings were dark in color, and with how many LEDs and holographs were scattered around, Rael couldn’t help but smile in excitement.
Clearly, it wasn’t fully done, as most of the buildings didn’t even have windows yet. But the most important part, in the end, was the layout.
And oh boy.
The layout was literally New York from his old world, but just floating several kilometers above the ground and looking extremely fancy. There were floating sidewalks, silhouettes of cars, and even some hospitals and learning institutions…
Yeah.
It was perfect.
A dark, cyberpunk-like floating city that gave off a powerful energy just by staring at it.
This was like his dream city when he was a child.
Hell, it was still his dream city, as he was pretty positive that the moment they finished the construction, he was going to move here, at least partially.
And staring at the city from below, Linlin and the others were stunned.
“Isn’t this like… Is this real?” Sophia mumbled.
Dax suddenly went up to Rael and tapped him on the shoulder.
When Rael turned around, he saw Dax standing there with a warm smile on his face.
“Friend’s discount?”
“Fuck off.”
“…”
It wasn’t like it would be expensive.
And yeah, the Radiant Dawn peeps were going to get their own stuff for free. After all, Rael wasn’t that heartless to shy away from spending some money to give his friends a nice home.
Friends…
He was probably using it too loosely.
After all, did any of these guys really consider him a friend?
Rael shook his head in annoyance and glanced toward the city once more.
He wanted to go up there, but he also wanted to wait for it to be completed.
And at this rate, it would only take one or two more weeks before it was done.
Speaking of that, Rael needed to also take a look at the progress back on Altros’s world.
He had left his constructs there to reverse-engineer the Sketa Online gear. Rael already had the base idea in his mind that he got from Solenne, and the constructs knew it too.
But… Unlike Solenne, Rael didn’t want the players to have the same experience.
If they died, they’d suffer permanent soul damage. That was why Rael had forgotten about Melissa at the start, since the number of times he had died had pretty much made him a cripple of sorts.
And now, he wanted a system that could allow the players to not put their souls on the line.
Rael felt like he was finally moving forward with his life instead of staying in one place as he had for the past couple dozen months, or rather, years.
I’m getting emotional for no reason… Rael let out a sigh and ruffled his hair.
“Anyways, I’ll need workers up there. I’ll probably call it New Heaven or something, and I was thinking you guys would be interested in helping out.”
“This is actually all yours?” Sophia asked, shocked.
“Why? Do you think anyone else besides Nyzzara has that much money?”
“Who’s Nyzzara?”
That wasn’t important.
“It’s all mine. And yes, I guess I just want you to try living up there. It will have several million defensive barriers, perfect security measures, and all sorts of futuristic stuff.”
At those words, they all just stood there for a moment, unsure of what to say.
On one end, they had the option to just live down here as always, and nothing would truly change.
On the other… They could go up there and practically start new lives. Linlin, for one, needed that.
Or rather, she wanted it.
It felt really peaceful, and for once, Rael felt like he could let his guard down.
But just then, in the corner of his eye, he spotted a red sphere in the middle of space, very, very far away.
It might have been in the next galaxy over, but Rael knew for a fact that whatever that red sphere was, it was big enough to be visible from here and dangerous enough for his senses to catch wind of it.
And soon enough, another red sphere appeared, then another. In just a few seconds, the stars that had barely been visible were now replaced by a blanket of red spheres.
It looked very ominous.
The moment Rael focused his mana into one of the red spheres, he felt an immeasurable amount of mana gathered inside it.
And in the next instant, that mana was let loose as a single red laser burst forward from every single red sphere in the cosmos and headed straight for his world.
…That could only mean one thing.
The war had begun.
