[I can hear you. And yes, it’s me.]
Her voice was now just like Rael remembered, and thankfully, judging by how clearly she spoke, nothing had happened to her.
On the contrary, she actually seemed especially lively.
Was she lazing off?
[I can still read your mind, you know? And no, I’m not lazing off. I’m currently in the process of trying to break into the Far Lands, but the process is proving to be a little trickier than I had expected,] Gaia said.
After a brief pause, she added:
[But I will have your last fragment soon. Don’t worry.]
Rael shook his head and let out a sigh.
Come back home. I’ll get it soon. Also, the Divine Realm has begun their attack.
[They… What? Already?]
Rael could feel Gaia’s anger through their connection.
[I had predicted they’d only start their attack in a few years at the earliest. What did they do?]
Heh.
They sent a few thousand planet destroyers at me, so I went ahead and bought all of them, then detonated them in the Divine Realm. As it so happens, planet destroyers are very effective when it comes to killing powerful beings and destroying stuff.
Though it clearly said that in the name.
Granted, those things wouldn’t have been able to kill the Ancient Primordials had Rael not stacked a metric fuck ton of them in one place.
Either way, the outcome resulted in his victory this time around.
[I’ll be back in a few minutes. As for the final fragment… You might be the only person who’s able to enter the Far Lands willingly,] Gaia said.
Rael was a little confused by her words.
Still, he nodded and then opened his eyes.
The connection faded.
But only after a few more minutes, Rael felt the connection return, and it was much stronger than before.
In fact, the connection was standing right outside of his door.
Rael approached his door, and when he unlocked it, he saw Gaia, as well as Anna standing right behind her.
Surprisingly, Anna had grown a little taller than before. As for Gaia, she still looked the same.
“Eyes up here.”
Gaia corrected him, lifting his chin slightly.
Then she said:
“I’d give you all the fragments, but I have a feeling you’re going to accidentally be pulled inside the Memory Record if you consume them in such a large quantity.”
That’s fair.
“Won’t I still have to consume them later, though?”
Gaia nodded.
“Yes, but by then, you’ll have all of them, and you’ll be able to use them in a special way. I’ll teach you the way later. For now, I want to do some reconnaissance from here, as I am curious what the next actions of the Divine Realm might be.”
“Well… I don’t think there’ll be much of a Divine Realm left in a few minutes,” Rael admitted. “But sure, take a seat wherever you’d like.”
She immediately stepped past him and sat on his bed.
As for Anna, she just stood there, awkward as always.
But right as he thought she might just follow along with Gaia, she suddenly spoke.
“I have recalled a few important details about Solenne that might interest you.”
“Anna. What did I say about talking formally?” Gaia chimed in from the side.
Anna lowered her head.
“I found some dirt on Solenne. Do you want to hear it?”
“Pfft…”
That didn’t sound like her at all.
“I’m all ears, Anna.”
She nodded at him and then gestured off to the side. The side, of course, was the living room where Nyx was currently working.
Rael shook his head and instead led her to his second living room at the other end of his home. Since it wasn’t the main living room, it was empty.
And so, Rael and Anna sat down on the sofa. She got comfortable and then finally began explaining.
“It turns out Solenne and Lucien had made a pact together. In that pact, Lucien is considered Solenne’s master, and she can’t disobey.”
Rael tilted his head slightly.
“That won’t excuse her from everything she did, but that isn’t all of it, is it?”
She shook her head and added:
“Actually, she had already broken the pact. Instead, she had forced Lucien into a pact on her terms. In that pact, she can make one wish of him, and as for Lucien, he can’t do anything to her or her army.”
Before Rael could reply, she said:
“However… he managed to find a loophole, then kill her. He revived her, manipulated her memories, and essentially made her think of him as her father, not her brother. And lastly, he sealed her past life’s memories away.”
Rael already knew the bit about her being his ‘sister’ turned ‘daughter.’ What he was more interested in, however, was the part about the wish.
“Could you elaborate on the wish?”
She nodded.
“She can ask anything, and Lucien would need to grant it. Basically, if she asked for him to destroy the multiverse, he’ll do it. At least, that’s how I remember him explaining it.”
Then she raised a single finger.
“However, she can’t wish for him to die. Basically, anything that would force him into a death route is not allowed.”
But a multiverse deletion was?
Sure, Rael thought highly of Lucien, but if he can exist in multiple multiverses at a time, then how exactly would he benefit from destroying the multiverse?
I can deal damage to him because all of my attacks are considered Cosmic Damage, but still…
It was weird.
“So if I manage to get Solenne’s memory back, she’d be able to basically wish the Divine Realm away?”
“That’s right. But I can assure you, you won’t be able to restore her memory easily, since you’re dealing with Lucien. His mind abilities are better than yours, and to top it all off, he’s most likely waiting for you to make a move,” Anna said, then lowered her head slightly.
“After all… I believe there’s a reason why I got these memories so suddenly.”
