“Hmm…”
Out of every single identity he had seen so far, Rael found this one the most interesting. For one, this was the identity of a being who was once considered one of the strongest in the tower.
Not to mention, since she went into the tower willingly and out of boredom, Rael found her kind of cool. For those reasons alone, Rael was very interested in buying her identity. And so, while the others were still eating and chatting lively, he went ahead and bought her identity.
In the next instant, memories flooded his mind, spanning even further back than the memories of Lindros or the Eternal Dream. This woman was close to ancient, or rather, she was the epitome of ancient, as in the very first memories he could see of her, the universe hadn’t even expanded yet.
It was just a small world, a clutter of stars that no one could explore. But be that as it may, Rael didn’t focus on her life before the High Tower, since in truth, he couldn’t care less. Instead, Rael went ahead and locked onto the memories of when she first started climbing the tower.
To his surprise, she was one of the few people who managed to climb to the 300th floor without prestiging once. However, she had to quickly change her tune when she felt just how much more powerful the 301st and 304th floors were.
That was why when she finally arrived in the 305th safe zone, the first thing she did was lash out her anger at the statue. As it so happens, she managed to shatter that statue and be lifted to the next floor.
She realized just how overpowered something like this was, so she went ahead and did it until she eventually reached the top. To her surprise though, and honestly, Rael’s surprise as well, despite her finding something so overpowered, there were already plenty of people on the 500th floor.
The only difference between the current 500th floor that Rael saw and the one he was currently seeing was the fact that it resembled the 5th floor very much. It was almost like there was no difference between the two.
That was why the people went ahead and built the structures upwards. That was also why they built such large structures, to distract everyone else from thinking that their floor was actually small.
Still, Freja had managed to see through all these disguises, and after months of beating every single person who had tried to talk to her on the 500th floor, she solidified herself as a Valkyrie. It was like a status for powerful women, or something.
Though, the next couple hundred years are pretty boring. She just lazes around and sometimes hops back down. She had more fun when she realized she could start clearing the boss floors, but until then, it was very, very boring.
Yet despite all the boredom, Rael managed to see what the way she prestiged was through placing her hand on a statue. The same statue that he hadn’t seen earlier.
That also meant that his theory of someone hiding it was the truth.
So while the others were eating, Rael went ahead and quickly observed all of her memories moving forward with great detail, until finally, he reopened his eyes.
A certain profoundness was in his gaze, and if that wasn’t enough, the sheer fact that Rael now knew everything there was to know about the 500th floor was also very nice.
Still, I should probably buy some more identities to get a bigger picture of this whole tower. The last thing I want is to be unprepared.
And of course, that was exactly what he did.
By the time he snapped out of it, all the women around him looked slightly worried. However, seeing his smile, they were relieved.
“You were out for like two hours. What’d you do?” Nyx asked.
Rael shrugged. “I went ahead and bought some memories. Oh, and by the way, amongst those memories, I saw a couple where the people were observing others who were leaving and going back home.”
Sadly for him and the others though, it would be pretty difficult to utilize it themselves, as the portal back home was at the very top of the 500th floor, surrounded by many guards and powerful beings who didn’t want anyone to actually leave this place.
It was a very petty demeanor for such powerful beings, but obviously, Rael also had the urge to just go ahead and destroy the whole tower entirely.
It was just that, no matter how much he searched, Rael didn’t find any hints on how one would go about doing so. If anything, he didn’t even know where the Higher Gods lived. There were plenty of things he wanted to take care of to ensure no one would ever piss him off in the future, but oh well…
Times are tough. I’ve already made plenty of memories, and in contrast, Lucien just seems like a bum. If anything, he has beef with Renoir, not me. I wasn’t the one who killed his whole fucking family, Rael thought, then did a quick stretch. On the bright side, I’m immortal, so even if someone comes down on us, I’ll be able to deal with them for all of eternity.
Anyhow…
“I believe it’s time we try raiding the 500th floor.”
