For a brief moment, there was no reply, slightly making Rael worried. However, that was when he felt the connection from before reappear, and with it came Gaia’s voice, which seemed slightly exhausted.
[Sorry, I was sleeping.]
“You sleep now?” Rael chuckled, then sat down on the couch. The house was pretty empty at this time of day. Well, there was still Altros and Melissa, who, even after a month, had yet to wake up.
Sure, he froze Uriel’s time, but not the others. Obviously, as shit of a husband as he might be, he made sure to accompany his wives from time to time and let them know how he was doing.
Speaking of his wives, they were in the middle of the universe at the moment, raiding some kind of slime kingdom for some hidden treasure. In short, every time he wanted to visit, he would appear on their ship and chat with them.
Then there was also Nyx. Aside from lazing around and doing nothing, she also joined the pirate crew. Obviously, she only did that so she could slack around with scenery.
So in short, aside from the couple few, as well as Evelyn, who lazed around every now and again, it was empty.
That’s why he just kicked his feet up on the couch and waited for Gaia to snap out of it. It took a few minutes, but once she was ready, she manifested in front of him, her hair disheveled and her appearance even worse.
She reeked of sweat too, which was a little odd.
“Everything alright?” Rael asked.
Gaia thought over it for a moment, then slumped down beside him.
“Your mind is very tiring to explore.”
“Is it? I feel like I’m a muscle brain for the most part. Am I that special, Gaia?” Rael replied expectantly.
Only to get hit with the truth, though. “No. It’s precisely because you’re a muscle brain that it’s hard to determine the true intentions behind your actions. But at the very least, I managed to figure out where your realm is located.”
“Yeah? Where is it?” Rael asked.
And instead of answering, Gaia went ahead and swiped her finger across the air, opening a portal in front of him. On the other side, there was only darkness.
But wait a second…
“I thought it was inside my head? You can open portals inside my head now? I won’t explode, will I?”
“The problem was that this place you go to whenever you activate your physique isn’t actually inside your mind. Now go through. Look,” Gaia replied, and after grabbing him by the scruff, she went ahead and tossed him through the portal.
Rael almost screamed, though by the time he flew through the portal and arrived on the other side, he was met with a completely black box. Was this really it? Gaia mentioned a white box the last time she had been here.
But then again, this whole place seemed a little strange, since it wasn’t in his mind to begin with.
Soon enough, Gaia entered this place too, glanced around, then nodded to herself. She walked past him and approached the border of the black box, tapping her hand against it.
Immediately, Rael felt a sharp pain in the back of his mind, and yet, it was a pain that passed as quickly as it had come whenever she finally pushed aside the wall of the black box, revealing an odd presence of mana through the gaps.
There were threads of purple mana connected to the walls of this black box, constantly trying their best to reattach it. However, the walls were unsuccessful, as with even more force, and a lot more pain for Rael, she managed to break the wall entirely.
And what Rael saw made his jaw drop entirely.
It was a realm devoid of all senses and smells. There was no gravity either. The appearance of the cosmos, however, was even more mysterious. There were purple tendrils all around, coupled with a massive gaping hole in the center of this whole realm.
Rael thought that was it, but once a sharp headache flew across his forehead, Rael suddenly spotted the presence of an eye appear in place of that hole. It stayed there for the duration of his headache, which obviously led him to believe that he was somehow connected to this realm to begin with.
But what was this realm? Was this the place he went to every time he activated his physique?
“If your headaches feel too frequent, let me know. I’ll take us out of here,” Gaia said.
Rael turned toward her. “What is this place?”
Gaia shrugged and then gestured for him to follow her out of the black box, so he did. Every movement he made caused a sharp headache to assault him. It only got worse the further he went away from this black box.
However, by the time he was a few hundred meters out, Rael subconsciously looked back, trying to find the black box. And yet, he spotted thousands of other black boxes, some of which were lit up with a bright white light.
After just a few seconds, that white light faded, and Rael could feel the presence of someone’s mana leaving that white box. Before long, the white box turned black, causing Rael’s head to hurt even more.
“This is a realm where beings like you gather your power, I guess… There are many more. Thousands, millions. I just don’t have any idea where these beings are. They aren’t in our multiverse, or our timeline. They exist somewhere outside of our observable multiverse, which might mean there’s an infinite amount of multiverses.”
Then, she glanced at the center of it all, the hole, where Rael’s eye in particular kept flashing.
“I believe whatever sort of birth you’ve had, and your true purpose, lies inside of that hole. I wouldn’t advise you to visit it, but I feel like I already know what kind of choice you’re going to make.”
