In the entire Eclipse Academy, only a handful of classes were granted special privileges.
And among those privileges, having a personal training zone dedicated exclusively to a single class was considered one of the greatest benefits.
Class S had one.
The moment Leon and others stepped through the outer gate, the sheer scale of it hit them at once.
The Class S arena stretched wide and round, it was easily half the size of a football stadium. Eight massive metal gates stood evenly spaced around its perimeter, each one was tall enough to let an entire elephant pass through without a problem.
Layered stone seating rose in wide arcs, circling the entire ground below. Concrete platforms were embedded into the ground at precise intervals, each positioned at specific angles and distance. They looked like designated combat stages, observation points, or testing zones for different combat types.
The structure itself resembled an old Roman-style arena. Leon remembered to get inspiration from it when they were designing it.
Only a handful of professors occupied the upper seating areas, along with several Eclipse staff members who were stationed discreetly around the arena to oversee safety and protocol.
As the first-year Class S students entered together, their eyes widened almost in unison.
Compared to the vastness before them, they felt small.
The sky above was clear, stretched in soft blue. Sunlight poured down evenly, the air was calm, carrying just enough breeze to make standing outside feel pleasant.
It was the kind of day people would choose for a picnic.
"Whoa… this is big."
"It is, but I've seen bigger."
"Well, my grandpa had a bigger one."
Leon walked behind those voices, following the group of students alongside Ethan and Alice.
Ethan's gaze wandered constantly,as his head tilted back as he took in the tall pillars and stone arches.
His expression was openly impressed.
"This place is insane," he muttered. "How do they even maintain something like this?"
Alice, on the other hand, looked almost unimpressed.
Her expression barely changed as she walked forward, her hands tucked into her pockets, eyes at front.
Leon noticed her.
'Guess this much space isn't impressive for her,' he thought calmly.
Considering her background and the Nightson Dukedom's private facilities, that was not surprising.
The class gradually spread out, as students gathered in loose clusters near the center of the arena floor.
Leon exhaled slowly.
After a brief moment, a voice echoed from behind the students.
"Are these the brats from Class S…?"
The sudden sound made everyone turn at the same time.
Leon's eyes narrowed slightly.
A man walked in through one of the massive metal gates.
He had long brown hair tied into a single ponytail that reached past his shoulders, matching brown eyes, and a faint scar cutting across the edge of his lower lip.
He wore a clean white shirt tucked neatly into black pants, one hand resting casually on the sheath of a long sword attached to his belt.
His posture was relaxed as he walked.
Beside him walked the same butler who had informed them earlier, matching his pace while holding a clipboard in his hand.
A collective gasp rippled through the students.
"It's… Sir Tyler…" Alice whispered beside Leon.
Her eyes followed him without blinking. Everyone knew that name clearly.
Sir Tyler Grimwar, was the eldest son of count Grimwar, and he was just twenty seven, and a stage six weapon master.
The man stepped forward without urgency, his boots tapped lightly against the stone floor as he climbed onto one of the concrete platforms.
From there, he looked down at the gathered students, his sharp eyes swept across the entire arena.
"I want everyone, "to form a proper line of ten students." He said.
He didn't even shout, yet the harsh edge in his tone was enough to make everyone move.
The scattered clusters of groups broke apart immediately.
Within a minute, all hundred students had organized themselves into clean, orderly lines, each consisting of ten students.
Leon stood near the middle of the third row. Alice and Ethan were beside him.
All three faced forward.
Sir Tyler rested one hand on the hilt of his sword and let his gaze move slowly across the lines.
He took his time then said. "My name is Tyler Grimwar. I'll be serving as your guest lecturer for the first years of Class S starting today."
Everyone looked at each other as murmurs filled the arena, they were all wondering what happened to the old professor, and why the sudden change.
Tyler noticed their reaction.
"This decision was made directly by Headmaster Raizen," Tyler added. "So if you're wondering why I'm here instead of someone else, that's your answer."
He paused.. Then, unexpectedly, the corner of his lips lifted into a faint smile.
"I don't care about your status. Your family. Or your rank."
His gaze hardened again. "I care about how you hold your weapon. How you swing it. And how much you control it..."
"... And by the time I'm done," he said evenly, "every single one of you will understand what it means to fight properly."
He concluded his introduction with a smile.
"I'll make you a fine weapon master."
Leon's eyes lingered on Sir Tyler a little longer.
He was tall, broad shoulders, and with a straight posture that did not waver even when he stood still.
He looked every bit like a veteran swordsman who had gone through countless battles.
Leon activated his status window quietly and examined his mana core.
Three stars, Yellow Mana Core.
'Hmm… two more stars and he'll step into a White core,' Leon thought.
He exhaled softly. 'Too bad. The breakthrough after that won't be easy for him.'
Even geniuses struggled once they reached that point. The higher the core, the more brutal the requirements became.
"Heh. I guessed correctly." Alice's whisper came from his right.
Leon glanced at her. "You named two people, that's not guessing."
"Tsk. oh shut up," she muttered, then added with a normal tone. "But do you think he'll stay for the whole year, or just a month?"
"Go ask him," Leon replied flatly, rolling his eyes.
Before Alice could retort, Ethan leaned in slightly.
"I think it's for the entire year," he said. "He basically said it himself just now. Stop chatting and focus on what he's saying"
"..."
Leon thought that Alice would cuss Ethan after he lectured her, but…
Alice's eyes lit up faintly.
"Huh… a Stage Six weapon master for a whole year," she murmured. "That's rare."
She sure was excited.
Leon and Ethan both looked at her.
Their gazes narrowed almost at the same time.
Alice noticed and frowned. "What?"
Leon did not say it out loud, but the thought was obvious.
She was already a two-star Stage Five weapon master. Stronger than every first-year present here.
Ethan was a three-star Stage Four weapon master himself. And Leon… even he, at just two-star Stage Four.
Yet Alice was smiling like a kid who had just been handed a new toy.
"…You're already above most of them," Ethan muttered.
Alice shrugged. "Doesn't mean I don't want to get better."
Leon let out a quiet breath.
"If you get serious out there– no even if you don't get serious…" he said, eyes still forward, "you'll still knock all of us down."
Alice turned slowly, staring at him like he had just said something stupid.
"That's rich something from someone who took down hundreds of chimeras in a matter of seconds."
Leon won't deny that, but he knew very well that when he used that technique along with his short range teleportation. he ran out of all of his mana.
"I tell the truth," Leon replied flatly. "You don't hold back once you get into it."
She scoffed. "Oh shut up Light Messiah."
Leon glanced at her. "Not this again."
Leon's eyes flicked toward Alice just as she smirked.
Before he could retort, a sharp voice cut through the air.
"I don't like chatting when I'm speaking."
Leon, Ethan, and Alice straightened almost instinctively. Leon felt it immediately.
Sir Tyler's gaze had locked onto their direction.
For a brief moment, Leon expected a scolding.
Instead, Tyler turned away as if nothing had happened.
"As I was saying," he continued calmly, "you'll be given five minutes to pair up with whoever you choose. Each pair will get one chance, to show me where you stand."
He rested his hand on his sword again.
"I don't care what you learned before entering Eclipse. If I find your fundamentals lacking, I will correct them or even change them."
His eyes swept the arena. "Brutally, if needed."
"Is that clear?" He added.
Everyone nodded, before they realize what the just said.
"…Wait, a duel?"
"It's a duel!""
"Isn't it to early?"
"This counts as a duel, right?"
Whispers erupted instantly.
Students turned toward each other, scanning other faces, calculating odds and evens. Some moved quickly, grabbing what they thought were safer and easier partners.
"Hey, Mia, pair with me."
"Let's team up."
Time ticked away.
No one approached Ethan, Leon or Alice.
They knew better that they will lose.
Leon glanced at Ethan, he was about to suggest pairing up with him, when Ethan moved first.
"Alice," Ethan said, surprisingly calm, "want to pair with me?"
Alice blinked. Then she grinned. "With pleasure."
Rank One and Rank Six.
Two Singles in a duel.
"..."
Leon didn't interfere them.
But before he could even turn away, another voice called out.
"Leon Valentine. Be my pair."
Leon turned.
"…Prince Kian?" he said calmly.
