Chapter 275: JIANGSHI KING I

Aaron thrust black sphere directly into the gaping mouth of a jiangshi, the weapon piercing through with unerring precision and embedding deep within the undead creature's maw.

The jiangshi erupted in a blaze of nether flames that licked hungrily at its decayed form, consuming it relentlessly until nothing remained but a scattering of fine ashes drifting on the wind, the air tinged with the acrid scent of purification.

Two more jiangshis maneuvered stealthily to flank Aaron from either side, their elongated claws poised to strike at what they perceived as his vulnerable blind spots, their movements silent and predatory in the chaotic battlefield.

Yet, with Aaron's heightened werewolf senses, particularly his acutely sensitive nose that picked up the foul, rotting odor emanating from the undead, he detected their approach without effort, his instincts alerting him to the impending danger.

Pivoting sharply toward the duo of jiangshis, Aaron swung his sword in a wide, sweeping arc, the blade whistling through the air as it severed their heads cleanly from their necks in a single, fluid motion.

Like the first one, the decapitated jiangshis ignited into roaring flames, their bodies crumbling to ash amid crackling bursts of ethereal fire that illuminated the surrounding gloom briefly.

Aaron continued his relentless harvest of the jiangshis, his extraordinary speed creating illusory afterimages that blurred the line between reality and phantom, leaving a trail of defeated and incinerated foes in his wake.

"What's going on? I thought your toys could take him down," Desirus questioned his wife sharply, his voice laced with frustration and displeasure as he witnessed the unfolding dominance on the battlefield.

"Apparently, he has a way to neutralize their strengths. Their inability to die was their greatest asset to me. But as you can see, they are reduced to ashes from just a single attack of his," Qin Luo explained, her tone analytical yet tinged with a hint of irritation at the unexpected turn.

"Then fix it. Stop giving excuses," Desirus commanded imperiously, his words brooking no room for further justification or delay, his eyes narrowing in impatience.

"Perhaps I can do something," Qin Luo suggested tentatively, her mind already racing through possibilities to regain control of the situation.

"Then what are you waiting for? Be on with it," Desirus urged impatiently, his gesture dismissive as he expected immediate action.

"Of course, my lord. It requires your life after all," Qin Luo replied in a voice that was chillingly soft and enchantingly deceptive, a subtle undercurrent of malice weaving through her words.

"What nonsense are you on—"

Desirus's berating words were abruptly cut off, replaced by a sharp, involuntary gasp that escaped his lips as shock overtook him.

He instinctively clutched at his neck with trembling hands, feeling the warm, viscous fluid gushing forth in a steady stream.

His hands came away slick and stained with his own hot blood, the metallic tang filling the air around him.

"You... why?" Desirus stammered, profound surprise and betrayal etched deeply into his paling features as he stared at his wife in disbelief.

"You are no longer needed. You are better useful dead," Qin Luo stated matter-of-factly, a cold, satisfied smile spreading across her lips as she brandished a short dagger still dripping with fresh blood.

"Don't worry, dear. Your death will not be for naught," she whispered intimately into Desirus's ear, her breath a mocking caress against his skin as his vision began to blur.

Retrieving a cluster of slender needles from the concealed folds of her dress, Qin Luo methodically inserted them into the lifeless body of Desirus, whose vital essence had been fully extinguished in that fatal moment.

She persisted in embedding more needles strategically across his form, invoking the dark transformation that would convert him into a jiangshi, akin to the fate of his fallen knights.

However, Desirus's emerging form diverged markedly from the others, setting him apart in both stature and presence.

His body mass expanded dramatically, swelling with unnatural bulk, while his flesh exhibited far less decay, retaining a semblance of vitality that the lesser jiangshis lacked.

His eyes, unlike the vacant stares of the others, gleamed with a faint glimmer of residual reasoning, though it remained firmly subjugated under Qin Luo's absolute command.

Desirus's eyes ignited with an eerie green glow, his skin toughening to an extraordinary hardness that surpassed ordinary limits, giving him an aura of indomitable resilience.

"Even as a jiangshi, you will remain king, my love," Qin Luo declared with a tone dripping in mockery, her words laced with ironic affection.

"Now, my love. Sever the head of the enemy with your own hands and claim victory," Qin Luo instructed, her fingers gently stroking Desirus's transformed face in a gesture that blended tenderness with manipulation.

"Roaarrr!!" Desirus bellowed from deep within his primal core, the roar echoing like thunder across the desolate landscape.

With his massively enhanced hands, he hefted a colossal great sword handed to him by Qin Luo, the weapon's weight insignificant in his grip.

Exploding forward with a burst of speed that rivaled Aaron's own formidable pace, Desirus plunged into the fray of battle, his presence shifting the dynamics instantly.

Desirus brought his great sword crashing downward toward Aaron in a vertical slash, the blade descending with earth-shaking force.

Aaron sidestepped nimbly, evading the strike with graceful precision, his movements a testament to his battle-honed reflexes.

Boom!

The impact of the blow cleaved the ground asunder, splitting it into two jagged halves that extended far into the distance.

The resulting chasm was vast and profoundly deep, a stark illustration of the jiangshi king's overwhelming physical might.

Seizing the momentary opening created by Desirus's overcommitted attack, Aaron clenched his fists tightly, channeling his power.

Arching his body backward to amplify the momentum and transfer maximum strength into his limbs, Aaron unleashed a devastating punch that landed squarely on Desirus's jaw with soldier-like precision.

The jaw shattered explosively from the impact, fragments of bone scattering in all directions like shrapnel.

Desirus was hurled backward by the force, his massive form vanishing from immediate sight as he soared through the air.

With Desirus temporarily dispatched, Aaron resumed his systematic extermination of the remaining jiangshis, humming a favored tune under his breath, the melody a stark contrast to the carnage he wrought.
