Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1745: Scourge

In the history of the Seeing Eye Guild, they had likely suffered tragedies before. But many of them were so long ago, and had taken place when they were so much weaker, that it was hard to treat them as a true part of themselves.

What happened on this day, though, was something that they wouldn't forget. It would be ingrained into their very beings for centuries, millennia, even further.

[Hollow Call (Talent)]

[Level: 100]

[Instant Death to those beneath Forging Will.]

Hollow Aether was an amorphous Aether, one that mixed the concepts of Spacetime, Glass, and Bone Essence. Formed from the fusion of the Glassirith, the Bone Tailed Lizard, and Sylas' own expertise and various treasures, the Aether was something that Sylas might have even preferred to control over his current Chaotic Space Aether.

Unfortunately, there was a reason he hadn't been able to. The Hollow Wing was a very unique existence, and there had been portions of the Runes of its Aether that Sylas hadn't been able to fully grasp even until now.

And, now that the Hollow Wing was of the E-tier instead of the F-tier, it was even more difficult for Sylas to grasp it.

But… he felt like he had grasped onto the faintest corner of it after comprehending Void Rune Mastery. And yet it was still so very far away.

Even so, Sylas had known of this loophole to make use of Hollow Aether himself. It was just that he hadn't ever been painted into enough of a corner to be forced to this extent…

Until now.

When he roared out with [Hollow Call], all he thought of was spreading his Call as far as he could, painting the skies with his voice.

The Seeing Eye Guild was a place of elites. Even their F-tier disciples would have Wills above the Forging level. It could be said that the fact [Hollow Call] was such a weak skill even at Level 100 was a testament to the fact that while the Hollow Wing might have been a Sacred Beast, it was still a Sacred Beast with the template of a Silver Beast.

But none of that mattered. Not right now.

Not when Sylas' roar still managed to kill billions, his voice spreading through the void and extending far and wide.

Ancestor Entrim's pupils constricted into pinholes. "STOP!"

She roared, waving a hand that sent out tides of Aether that severed the call of Sylas' roar.

But even so, it was already too late.

The forest around Sylas shattered, the Will that the Glutton had accumulated no longer having the foundation it needed to protect itself. All of the Will the Glutton hadn't already managed to devour was suddenly released.

The Glutton faltered, the destruction of his field causing some minor backlash to him. He had been far closer than the Sloth, and the delay bought Sylas invaluable time… time he used to show the world one very important thing.

The Bloodline of the Grimblades.

"Sever."

Blades of golden emerald fell from above, slicing apart the Will flying and accumulating through the skies.

The Hibernation Halo bloomed around Sylas and he was suddenly infused with a great amount of healing power. Because his injuries had been caused by warriors so powerful, his healing speed was far slower. But his actions were anything but.

[Hollow Burst].

Sylas vanished, appearing right in front of the Glutton. The latter never expected this change. Not only had Sylas managed to dodge the Sloth, but he had used a skill he had only just used—a skill the Glutton had been certain was still on cooldown.

The Glutton's Madness Key was already in Sylas' hand, the Scorned Wraps' flame dancing over its body and almost making it look as though Sylas was punching out with a fist of fire instead of what he was actually doing…

Pressing his Glutton Madness Key to the Glutton's chest.

Confusion was all the Glutton could react with, right before that confusion became wide-eyed shock. Everything clicked for him, but it was already too late.

Sylas had started his reaching-forward action before he even teleported. His timing was so perfect that even with their speed difference, the Glutton couldn't react at all before it was too late.

BANG.

The Sloth looked back, having overshot Sylas. He barely caught what happened, but what he saw all too clearly was the face of the Glutton… and that was the face of someone who had lost something.

"Fuck." The Sloth muttered.

He knew that face. It was the same one he had made when he had lost a valuable clone in the middle of fucking nowhere.

The Glutton's Madness Key appeared, dancing on his neck as it erupted with light, fusing with Sylas'. However, only the Madness Disciples themselves would probably understand those nuances. To everyone else, the aura of a Madness Disciple was suddenly erupting in the middle of a battlefield that should have nothing to do with them.

The skies shook.

The Glutton didn't even hesitate for a single moment. The moment he finished taking a step back from Sylas' attack, he turned tail and ran. He didn't have time to think about how or why Sylas was able to take off his Madness Key so easily, he also didn't care to think about how Sylas had managed to dodge the consequences of doing that.

All he knew was that he had to run, and he had to run right this moment.

The Scorned Wraps that coated his arms and legs expanded, wrapping around his entire body until even his face was covered, and no sooner did that happen…

The system reacted.
