[You have completed a Hidden Mission: Capture the Fragment of the Sky]
[You are receiving the rewards…]
Azel dismissed the glowing blue screens one after another with a weary swipe of his hand.
Under his boot, Elione's trembling eyes stared up at him… they were no longer filled with madness or superiority, but fear.
"I… I need it," Elione croaked, his voice sounded completely fractured.
Azel kicked his head aside, and it smacked against the broken remains of his body with a dull thud.
"Why are you so obsessed with this?"
Elione didn't answer immediately.
The muscles in his neck rippled and the tendons re-attached.
The veins on his temple swelled as his head fused back with his body.
The power within him still hadn't faded completely.
"I need… power," Elione rasped, trying to rise on legs covered in black veins that pulsed like living snakes. "I need to be… beautiful…"
Azel raised a brow. "Huh? Why does bro suddenly sound like Ultron?"
Elione's eyes rolled back.
"I need… to become like you…" He raised one trembling hand toward Azel. "A perfect man… like you…"
Then, just as abruptly, his body gave out.
The breath left him in one final gasp, and he collapsed face-first into the ground.
His skin turned black, cracking like burnt clay until his entire body went still.
Azel exhaled slowly. "That was… tough."
He looked around. There were still a few spears in the air and wiith a flick of his wrist, they vanished, dissolving into dust.
Another set of notifications appeared in front of him but he ignored them.
He was too drained to care.
'Well, at least it's done. I'll have to report this to the principal. Thankfully, not many people knew about this mess.'
He tucked the Fragment of the Sky safely into his inventory, he would check it out later.
"Hey."
Azel flinched, spinning around instantly.
"Wha… Sybil?!"
She stood a few meters away with her arms folded.
He hadn't even sensed her approach.
"How the hell did you find me…?" he asked, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Well," Sybil said with a smug smile, "the class rep who's always on time suddenly misses first period? Sounds suspicious. I figured you were either slacking off somewhere… or handling the Skinbutcher problem."
She walked closer with her shoes tapping lightly on the cracked ground.
When she reached Elione's corpse, she didn't hesitate… she gave the body's face a sharp kick.
CRACK!
The head detached, sailing through the air before exploding against the far wall in a spray of black blood.
Azel sighed. "You shouldn't desecrate the dead."
Sybil crossed her arms with her tone flat.
"He destroyed my meadow. He deserved worse." She turned her head to the side, pretending indifference, though her jaw was tight.
Azel stepped closer and placed his hand on her head, patting her lightly.
She froze for a second then purred quietly.
"You're not wrong," he said softly.
Then his gaze drifted to the remains of Elione's torn clothes, the twisted expression on what was left of the man's face.
He remembered what Elione had said… about what he wanted to do to his women. To Sybil too.
"Maybe," Azel said after a pause, "we can make an exception this time."
He kicked the corpse once.
The body splattered against the stone wall, dissolving into a puddle of blood and black residue.
When he looked back, Sybil was grinning.
"Well, that's one way to handle it," she said.
"Wait," she added suddenly, tilting her head. "How are you going to explain his death to the academy?"
"I already did," Azel said without missing a beat.
He started walking toward the locker-room door. "I just need to clean up and get ready for my next class."
He reached for the handle, but before he could open it, Sybil caught his wrist.
"Huh?" Azel blinked.
Sybil smiled… the kind of smile that always preceded trouble.
Then she jumped.
"Wha… HEY!"
She shot upward, wind exploding beneath her feet, dragging Azel along.
The two of them soared through the open roof of the field like arrows loosed from a bow.
"Sybil! The hell are you doing?!"
"Come," she shouted over the rushing wind. "Let us finish what we started before."
"What we started before?!" Azel yelled back, trying not to lose his balance as they flew higher.
She laughed. "We still haven't done it in the meadow… my secret spot. Flare should be in class by now."
"Done it?!" Azel sighed. "Sybil, you're not supposed to be spreading your legs for random men!"
"You're not random!" she snapped, wind whipping through her crimson hair. "I have a crush on you!"
"That's not how crushes work!" Azel barked, his voice half drowned by the roar of the wind. "You're supposed to wait until we actually know each other!"
Sybil ignored him completely.
The two descended rapidly and they landed in her favorite spot in the meadow.
Sybil brushed a strand of hair from her face and smiled. "You can get to know me… as you do me."
Azel stared blankly.
"I already know plenty about you," she said smoothly. "Like how you're not actually the Sword Saint's child. And that the Sword Saint is living peacefully in Rochel City with his real daughter."
Azel's hand froze.
She tilted her head and smiled mischievously. "But don't worry, I don't really care about that… You're strong, Azel. And my father always said… if I find a strong man, I should test him first before bringing him home."
Azel blinked. "So… you didn't bring me here for…"
"Right. I didn't bring you here to spread my legs and let you have your way with me." Sybil asked. "I'm not that simple, Azel. You didn't really think you could bed the daughter of a great clan that easily, did you?"
Azel sighed, running a hand through his hair.
'You didn't do all this for Reinhardt in the game, though…'
"We can do this later," he said, turning away. "I need to get to class."
He barely took three steps before the wind howled.
Sybil raised her arm and the surroundings bent.
In an instant, air condensed around Azel like invisible chains… it was a wall of compressed wind closing in from all sides.
He dropped low and leapt backward.
The space he had just been was flattened instantly.
"Sybil… what the hell—"
She snapped her fingers.
SNAP!
The compressed air detonated.
