Gwendolyn's eyes widened from the bed where she had been lounging inside Azel's room, her ethereal legs crossed as she idly kicked them in the air.
She had been thinking about Azel's body… specifically how blessed it was and giggling to herself when suddenly her surroundings snapped like a broken illusion.
The bed vanished.
And in the next instant, she was standing barefoot in the middle of a field of endless golden grass, swaying gently despite the absolutely still air.
The sky above wasn't blue… it was golden, a glowing dome of divine radiance that made her squint as though it were a sun made into a sky.
"What in the—?"
A prickling sensation crawled across her skin.
That was when she felt it… several soft but incredibly heavy tails pressing against the nape of her neck from behind, the weight of an apex predator resting on her like a warning from the gods themselves.
A feminine voice which was full of deathly cold spoke just behind her ear.
"If you move… you die."
Gwendolyn froze. Very, very slowly, she tilted her eyes sideways to look behind her.
Her mouth fell open.
Behind her towered a massive blue fox, easily five times her height, its nine tails drifting like celestial blades ready to sever her soul itself.
Its eyes glowed as though they could see through every ounce of her existence.
"Oh… oh hold it there, horsy~" Gwendolyn managed a trembling laugh. "I'm a ghost, you know? Y-you can't really hurt m—"
One of the fox's tails flicked.
BOOM.
She didn't even see it move.
Her body was sent tumbling across the golden plain like a rag doll shot from a cannon. She rolled, skidded, and finally landed face-first into golden dirt.
"PFF… WHAT THE?!" She pushed herself up, spitting dirt. "You crazy animal—!"
She stopped.
Her hands were touching the ground. Her palms were solid. Her arms were also solid and her body was solid as well.
She touched her own chest and gasped.
"A… real body? A physical projection?!"
"You're right."
A voice drifted from above her, cool as midnight frost.
Gwendolyn looked up and saw Kyone, descending from the golden sky like the queen of winter.
Her silver hair danced in a breeze that didn't exist and her pale expression unreadable yet extremely irritated.
"In this combined plane," Kyone said, landing gracefully, "your soul projects as your true body."
Gwendolyn swallowed.
Kyone took a step forward, her bare feet glowing faintly against the golden soil.
"You will undo your soul magic," she said flatly, conjuring a sword made entirely of ice into her hand, "and release yourself from my husband."
Gwendolyn blinked once.
Then twice.
"Or else… what, exactly?" she smirked with false bravado. "If you cut me, you cut that cutie too. Any real harm on my soul hurts his soul. We're synced, sweetie."
Kyone's cold expression didn't change.
Then the sword vanished into snowflakes.
"Calm down."
Gwendolyn felt something hot against the back of her neck. She turned slightly… only to see the giant fox pressing her face closer, eyeing her like prey.
"Move," Ahrya said with her predator's growl, "and I'll enjoy ripping that oversized chest off your body."
"I-I'm very calm," Gwendolyn squeaked.
Kyone walked past her and tapped the fox's snout. "Ahrya, shrink."
Blue fire spiraled around the monstrous fox, and in seconds she condensed into her humanoid form… which had long blue hair, fox ears twitching, and her tail swaying with annoyance.
And her glare could have melted a mountain.
'I felt like I would die… actually die,' Gwendolyn thought, shivering. 'And Azel… wow, this man really attracts crazy women… goddesses even!'
She pushed herself up.
And then she made a mistake.
She looked at Kyone's chest.
Kyone was beautiful but a bit flat.
Then she looked down at her own massive chest, full and heavy, bouncing even though she wasn't moving.
Her lips curled into a smug grin.
Kyone's left eye twitched.
Then…
THWACK.
Kyone kicked her straight in the face, sending her sliding across the grass again.
"Ow! Why you jealous ice witch?!"
"Come on. Let's go see Nyala," Kyone said, dusting her hands.
…
The golden bedroom on the other side of the divine plane was serene with warm sunlight filtering through golden curtains, a huge luxurious bed at the end, and a gold-carved bookshelf lining one wall.
Azel sat on the bed with his legs crossed and Elarielle seated on his lap like an annoyed little princess. She was holding a divine storybook open while he read it aloud to her.
Behind him, Nyala combed her fingers through his hair, humming as she hugged him from behind, pressing her body comfortably into him.
Azel didn't mind. He looked peaceful.
The door burst open.
Kyone dragged Gwendolyn inside by her hair like a sack of potatoes and released her onto the floor.
Gwendolyn's breasts hit the ground first with a heavy flop.
All three goddesses' eyes sharpened.
"Esteemed Husband," Kyone said with a sweet tone that promised violence, "are you sure you want this whore inhabiting your soul space? If not, we can travel to the Land of Gods and ask the Soul Deity to split your souls permanently."
Gwendolyn stiffened.
'They can CUT ME OFF?! NO NO NO—'
'They're gods,' she realized as she swallowed. 'Real gods… Yarog would faint if he knew I… I wonder how fast I'd die if I ran.'
Azel exhaled softly.
"No need for that," he said while patting Elarielle's head to soothe her jealousy. "She's interesting."
Kyone pointed sharply at Gwendolyn.
"She looks like a cougar."
Elarielle jabbed her finger accusingly. "Her breasts are too big. Is she a cow?"
Nyala sighed deeply behind Azel. "Why do all the crazy ones come to my husband?"
Gwendolyn clutched her chest defensively.
"These are natural!"
"No one asked," Kyone said.
…
"Is he waking up…?"
Azel heard Mynes's voice echo faintly as consciousness slipped back into his real body. His lashes fluttered.
Someone was holding his hand and someone else was hovering over him.
He blinked.
The blurry ceiling came into view.
His head hurt slightly but he was fine.
Mira's voice followed. "I don't think he inhaled water… how about we try pushing air into his mouth?"
"E-excuse me…?" Azel tried to speak, but his lips were abruptly covered.
His eyes snapped fully open.
Mynes… was kissing him.
Not a small kiss.
A full-on CPR attempt kiss… except it was definitely not CPR because he was VERY awake.
Her eyes fluttered shut, her cheeks were burning, and her hands braced against his shoulders as she pressed her lips to his, breathing forcefully into him.
Mira blinked. "Mynes… did you just want an excuse to kiss him?"
Mynes didn't move but she soon pulled back her face.
"You can't blame a girl for trying."
Mira immediately raised her hand and whacked Mynes on the back of the head, the loud pap! Sounding through the quiet room.
Mynes squealed and grabbed the spot with watery eyes.
"You have the behavior of a whore." Mira scolded, her sweet voice irritated in the way only she could manage. "Control yourself, woman…"
She turned back toward Azel. He was sitting up now, still slightly dazed and his hair was still damp from the bath.
"What happened?" Azel asked as he ran a hand through his hair.
"Well, you fainted while in the tub," Mynes said, rubbing the back of her head. "I guess you were very tired."
Azel finally looked around and realized this was not the bathing room neither was it his own bedroom.
"Oh, and before you ask," Mira added, "you are currently in our room. We compared which rooms had the biggest beds and came to a conclusion."
Azel blinked.
"Why does it matter which room has the biggest beds?"
"Because you're going to be sleeping with us." Mynes said it like it was the most natural thing in the world.
"Y-you are exhausted," she continued, "which is to be expected since you expended a lot of mana helping us find Wendy."
"Uh… I'm fin—"
"And after that," Mynes cut in firmly, "you fainted. There's no saying you won't faint again, and we're meant to be a team. So until we get out of here, you will sleep together with us."
Azel stared… then internally sighed.
'I have a feeling I won't get out of this one.'
He nodded in acceptance.
Both women smiled immediately… one with a predatory curl of her lips, the other with the soft satisfaction of a commander who had just secured a strategic victory.
"But—"
"The bed has enough space for all three of us if we squeeze," Mynes cut in again, raising a finger. "And remove every bit of our clothing."
Azel stared.
"…Sleeping naked?"
"This zone becomes extremely cold at night," Mynes explained, her tone suddenly professional. "To maintain warmth, we have to stay as close as possible. With no clothing. It's basic temperature regulation."
She looked toward Mira for confirmation.
The Knight Commander's cheeks were bright red, but she nodded stiffly.
"Yes. Now I'll go have a bath… Mynes, come with me."
The two women headed toward the bathroom, leaving Azel alone in the quiet room.
He exhaled slowly, rubbing a hand through his hair.
'It can't get worse from here…'
He stood up slightly then froze.
Because now, across the room, standing in front of the tall mirror like someone examining a new dress, was Gwendolyn.
She turned toward him slowly.
Her form wasn't fully solid… it was ghostly now but regardless he could see her, especially the generous curves emphasized by the way her gown had slipped down.
The entire upper portion hung loosely around her waist, exposing far more than it covered. Her chest moved with an almost mocking buoyancy.
Azel's face went pink.
'Why is she suddenly so quiet…?'
Gwendolyn saw his reaction and smiled.
She walked forward, the ghostly fabric swaying and then she stopped right in front of him, intentionally letting her chest hover just a little too close.
"I've noticed something," she said, tapping the side of one breast lightly with an amused hum. "Out of all your women… I have the biggest breasts."
Azel swallowed.
'Why do they look so big…?'
Gwendolyn giggled, lifting them slightly with both hands as if presenting a prize. They bounced softly when she released them.
"Come on," she teased, tilting her head.
"Do you want to grab them?"
