Sitting in the passenger seat, Liu Ergou raised his eyebrows upon hearing Zhang Man's words.

"Impulsive? How was I impulsive?"

"He was about to rob me of my money and jadeite, so I was supposed to just stand there like an idiot and let him?"

Liu Ergou's words made Zhang Man press a hand to her forehead in exasperation.

"Sigh, why can't I get through to you! I meant you shouldn't have rejected them. You should have gone for that cup of tea!"

"You heard him. The person inviting you was the owner of Ting Tian Pavilion. Do you really think a big boss like him is short on your bit of cash?"

In response, Liu Ergou said self-righteously, "You never know! What if they needed exactly that amount?"

"What if they were just short that little bit of money needed to take Ting Tian Pavilion to the next level? They couldn't wait, so they came to rob me! That has to be it!"

Looking at Liu Ergou's self-righteous expression, Zhang Man had to fight the urge to kick him. But after a moment's thought, she discarded the idea.

Rubbing her temples, Zhang Man explained earnestly, "Er Gou, I'm not joking. This time you've really provoked someone you can't afford to. Do you have any idea what kind of status that Mr. Mi has in the city?"

Hearing this, Liu Ergou obediently shook his head.

"Nope! I'm just a guy from a village, what would I know? All I know is to call the police when there's trouble!"

Despite Liu Ergou's flippant answer, Zhang Man continued to explain, though she felt exasperated. "You might not understand, so let me put it this way: whether it's my family or Ding Zhengyang's, anyone who runs into Mr. Mi has to show him some deference. Otherwise, our businesses in the city simply couldn't survive!"

Liu Ergou's face showed his shock. He had no idea about Ding Zhengyang's family situation, but he knew Zhang Man's all too well. A family that could casually drop 60 million, and even they were afraid of this Mr. Mi. One can only imagine how formidable that man must be.

However, shock was one thing; Liu Ergou wasn't the least bit afraid of Mr. Mi.

They're all just crooks robbing other crooks, anyway. I'm the one in the right!

If Zhang Man knew what Liu Ergou was thinking at that moment, she would have coughed up blood from sheer anger. Unfortunately, she didn't know. At that moment, Zhang Man was just looking at Liu Ergou with a worried expression.

Seeing her worried face, Liu Ergou said earnestly, "Don't worry! I'll take full responsibility for what I've done. If that Mr. Mi causes trouble for your family in the future, just push all the blame onto me. Tell him to come settle the score with me! I'll shoulder it for you!"

Looking at Liu Ergou, Zhang Man just shook her head and said nothing more. She started the sports car, ready to head home.

But before she could drive off, her phone rang. As soon as Zhang Man answered, Ding Zhengyang's voice came through the line.

"Uh, Zhang Man? You haven't left yet, right? If you're still there, come straight to my location! Something's come up, and I'm waiting for you! Oh, right, right! Bring that Er... Er Gou... bro... brother... along with you!"

Zhang Man was about to ask what was going on, but the call was abruptly disconnected, leaving her completely baffled. She fiddled with her hair, unable to make heads or tails of Ding Zhengyang's meaning. She turned to look at Liu Ergou, hoping he might have a solution.

Liu Ergou, of course, had heard the phone call loud and clear. Seeing Zhang Man's confused look, he said immediately, "Well, since he invited us, let's go! Besides, he still owes me those two conditions. This is a good chance to get them settled!"

Hearing this, Zhang Man no longer hesitated. She started the car and drove in the direction Ding Zhengyang had indicated.

「A short while later.」

Zhang Man followed the GPS to the location Ding Zhengyang had specified. She and Liu Ergou got out of the car.

The moment Liu Ergou stepped out, he saw that the place Ding Zhengyang had mentioned was an incredibly luxurious bar. The exterior was adorned with colorful, dazzling lights, and he could faintly hear the pounding music from within. Liu Ergou felt an instinctive aversion to the place.

Zhang Man, on the other hand, showed no reaction upon seeing it was a bar. In fact, she looked like a fish in water. Disregarding Liu Ergou's hesitation, she grabbed his arm and pulled him inside.

The instant they entered, deafening music assaulted them, making Liu Ergou's head spin. This was the first time in his entire life that he had ever set foot in such a place.

After entering the bar with Zhang Man, they immediately saw Ding Zhengyang standing there, waiting for them.

When Ding Zhengyang saw Zhang Man and Liu Ergou, a brilliant smile lit up his face. He hurried over, enthusiastically grabbed Liu Ergou's arm, and led the way.

Seeing Ding Zhengyang's current behavior, Liu Ergou was momentarily at a loss for words. Didn't this guy look down on me before? Why is he suddenly so fawning? The change is a bit too dramatic.

After a moment's thought, Liu Ergou instantly understood why Ding Zhengyang was being so polite. The reason was simple: Ding Zhengyang still owed him two conditions. He probably just wants to get these two conditions over with as quickly as possible so he can stay away from me forever.

Led by Ding Zhengyang, they soon arrived at a luxurious VIP booth. The moment they sat down, an assortment of alcoholic drinks was placed before them.

Ding Zhengyang quickly grabbed a bottle, poured two glasses, and handed one to Liu Ergou.

"I'm sorry, Brother Er Gou," he said. "I was too rude before. I shouldn't have treated you like that! It was my fault. Rest assured, I'll definitely change. I won't be like that again! Here, let me toast you!"

After speaking, Ding Zhengyang raised his glass and downed it in one go.

Although Ding Zhengyang's words sounded a bit strange, it didn't stop Liu Ergou from drinking; he didn't notice anything amiss. He simply took the glass and drained the red wine in it as well.

Before long, the group was so tipsy they could hardly walk. Even so, Ding Zhengyang showed no sign of stopping, still holding a glass to toast Liu Ergou.

"Er Gou, drink up! Come on, I'll toast you another one!"
