Gun of Ashes

Chapter 65 Idealist_2

This was beyond Lorenzo's understanding, breaking the Order's centuries-old principles, even without destroying that crucial organ, the demon would die weakly like this.

But then, an abnormal feeling surged, excruciatingly painful.

Leaning on the nearly shattered Nail Sword, Lorenzo gasped heavily, his body exhausted like never before, extending from the flesh to his mind, as if something had forcibly torn apart his thoughts and reconstructed them.

"Lo... Lorenzo."

Arthur stood not far from Lorenzo, watching the demon hunter as the armor gradually fell away, revealing half of his ferocious and terrifying face.

The expression twisted together, vicious like never before, as if beneath that armor was a mutated demon.

...

"Horner is dead... my connection with him has been severed."

Dean Lawrence looked at the scenery outside the window and suddenly said.

"Dead? Did you know through that strange 'gap'?"

The Plague Doctor asked with curiosity.

Dean Lawrence nodded slightly.

"The 'gap' is essentially our spiritual... world? You could barely describe it that way. However, a human's 'gap' can only accommodate themselves, and they cannot break through the robust barriers, but a demon's 'gap' can expand, connecting more people... allowing communication on a spiritual level and... erosion."

He spoke with a smile, a smile full of coldness.

"Like bubbles of varying sizes, the large one devours the small ones."

The Plague Doctor shivered involuntarily.

"Did you tamper with Horner's 'gap'?"

"No, I merely left my erosion... to be precise, a beacon. This twisted power engraved within his 'gap', like a dark sea, and I discovered the coordinates of his island, building bridges to it, thus I could reach his 'gap' through the 'gap'."

Dean Lawrence explained to his ally, Horner was able to lose control in the cold because Dean Lawrence had eroded him in advance, the inferior Secret Blood was the best beacon, thus he traversed the 'gap' to arrive.

"The Church conceals too many things, it was only after seizing the 'Revelation' that I discovered all this, essentially, the Heart Core Network of the Static Holy Temple is this kind of thing..."

He appeared somewhat puzzled.

"A mega 'gap' conducting 'erosion' connections with the other demon hunters, marking all the demon hunters so independent demon hunters can connect within this vast Heart Core Network, while the Church can determine their location as well."

Dean Lawrence spoke with a chilling laugh.

"Just like I can control Horner through the inferior Secret Blood, the beacons established by the Church for demon hunters are also interesting."

"Secret Blood?"

The Plague Doctor asked, as an expert in demonic life, he immediately guessed.

"Inferior Secret Blood is formulated from my own blood mixed with the Holy Grail's blood, thus the Secret Blood that allows all demon hunters to establish beacons and communicate... Plague Doctor, do you know what this represents?"

Dean Lawrence spoke of that terrifying secret.

The Plague Doctor watched him cautiously, the pupils beneath the mask slightly expanded, he slowly said.

"The blood of demon hunters... is of the same origin?"

The eerie 'gap' can use its own erosion as a link to connect with other eroded 'gaps'. So, to connect with demon hunters, their established beacons must be of the same origin with the 'gap' of the Static Holy Temple, just like how Dean Lawrence can connect with Horner through himself.

Secret Blood can continually emit erosion to deepen the 'beacon', whilst ordinary erosion pollution will fade over time, causing the beacon to disappear.

"This means your Demon Hunting Order, the Secret Blood of past demon hunters all originate from a demon? And that demon's 'gap' has continued to the present?"

Heavy breathing came from beneath the mask, unclear whether it was fear of the truth or excitement in discovering a new world.

"No, you couldn't have done this, even if there was such a demon, it's not something you could subdue... it is not a power belonging to demon hunters."

The Plague Doctor suddenly began to refute his thoughts, like a demented lunatic, muttering to himself.

"To be precise, it is not a power belonging to the Servant Demon Hunters."

Dean Lawrence looked at the Plague Doctor with some deep meaning.

The bird-beaked mask stared at Dean Lawrence, the body beneath the clothing began to distort and deform, but Dean Lawrence remained calm, knowing this was the Plague Doctor's emotional outburst, as he always struggled to restrain himself in such situations.

"So... is it the power of another branch of demon hunters?"

His voice carried a hint of frantic laughter, not waiting for Dean Lawrence to confirm anything, he continued speaking.

"Indeed, how could you so easily contain the Holy Grail? How could the ethereal will allow you to easily touch it?"

"Sure enough, my research was correct!"

With rising emotion, countless protrusions rose under the clothing, as if the barely maintained human form would completely collapse in the next moment.

"Silence, Plague Doctor."

Dean Lawrence suddenly interrupted his madness, raising a finger to his lips, as if warning him not to awaken a monster slumbering.

"The will of the Holy Grail had escaped long before the Night of the Holy Arrival, sealed in the Holy Coffin was merely dying flesh, yet even dying flesh holds such great power..."
