Extra's Death: I Am the Son of Hades

Chapter 839: Epilogue

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) POV

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) moved through the void of True Worlds.

The ■ that lived in the void scattered, sensing his arrival.

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) ignored them all and kept sinking.

"This better be something important. We are at war with Seat of Beasts and Seat of Disaster, so if you are wasting my time, know that I won't let you off easily," Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) grumbled.

[Understood, master.] Heavenly Records answered.

As Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) kept descending, they were nearing the target location.

[Please, reign in your presence, master.]

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) clicked his tongue.

But he did as he was asked, knowing the such a weak True World would be destroyed if he did not do that.

After making sure he was not leaking any aura, or presence, he descended into the True World before it.

It was a 'modern world'.

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) looked around, expanding his senses.

"This world doesn't have any supernatural abilities, or anything else. It's just a Zeroth Boundary World. What are we doing here?" Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) asked.

[You will know soon, master.]

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) nodded.

He had come to this remote True World, only because Heavenly Record had asked him to.

Otherwise, for someone of his statue, he would never set a foot in such a weak place.

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) followed Heavenly Records instruction. He purchased some flowers from a flower shop, brought an expensive gift, and had everything packed before taking a taxi to a specific location.

"So, what are we doing here?" Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) asked.

[You will know soon, master. Now, please check your pocket.]

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) did that.

He took a note that had a name written on it.

Neo Hargraves.

[Master, you should use this name in this world when someone asks for your identity.]

[This name is—]

"My name, I know," Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) answered with particularly no emotions.

[Then, it should be okay to use this name as an alias in this world, correct?] Heavenly Record asked carefully.

For beings at Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) level, names carried a lot of meaning.

Name represented power, prestige, history, and a lot more.

The more a name was known, the longer it had "lived", the stronger that name was.

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) had stopped using "Neo Hargraves" as a name long ago.

It was "young" compared to his other names, that he had used for far longer.

"No. I won't be using this name," Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) said.

He was proud of his current name, and while using a weak name would not affect his strength, it would affect his pride.

[Master, please, use it just for—]

"Heavenly Records, this world has a species called, humans, right?"

[Yes.]

"If they live for eighty years, then one second compared to those eighty years is all the time I've spent using the name 'Neo Hargraves.'"

[…]

Heavenly Record understood what Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) meant.

He would not use a name that did not represent him for who he was.

Heavenly Record sighed.

They could only hope that meeting his 'family' would give him a powerful shock, and make him recall his past.

Because as Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) currently was, he wouldn't bother looking into the past of "Neo Hargraves" even if Heavenly Record asked.

For the current him, it was a worthless history.

The taxi dropped Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) at a wedding venue.

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) stepped out, and entered the venue.

He saw the place, and there were quite a few people around.

Some of them began looking at him, not recognizing him.

A man with blonde hair approached him.

"You are?" he asked.

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) stared him.

[Master, he is Henry, and—]

"I'm a friend of the groom," Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) said stiffly.

For some reason, looking at the man and hearing his name made his heart churn.

Henry looked at the gifts and nodded, guiding Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) to sitting venue.

Henry made some small talk, but Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) could not engage in the conversation.

He remained silent.

Because the more people he saw in the venue, the more his heart was twisting.

'Are we under attack? Why are my emotions out of control?' Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) asked.

[Please, do not worry, master. I'm observing the surroundings, and there is no attack.]

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) frowned.

If there was no attack, why was his heart beating so fast as if it would leap out of his chest.

Seeing he had some reaction, Heavenly Record began to name the people around them.

[Master, that is Amelia. That one is Daniel. That is Arthur.]

Each name made Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) chest tighten.

It was becoming harder to breathe.

At that moment, the wedding vows began.

The man and the women came to stage.

The man had a silly smile, while the three brides were also smiling. Clearly, they were excited about finally tying the knot.

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) felt his gut wrench.

And finally, he understood the name of the emotions he was feeling.

Happiness, and sorrow.

But he couldn't understand why he was feeling as such.

[Master, those are Jack, Layla, Emma, and Illyana.]

"They are finally happy," Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) muttered, not knowing why he said those words.

After the vows, people began to meet each other, congratulate the groom and the brides, and music were played.

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) remained seated in his place.

"Are you okay?" a voice called him.

He turned his head, and saw—

"Mother?"

"Yes?" the woman smiled, confused by his words. "I'm the mother of Layla, Persephone Hargraves. Henry told me you were Jack's friend."

She began to talk with him, seeing he had been alone until now.

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) was confused. Why did he call her mother?

Why didn't know why but the more he heard her voice, the harder it felt to maintain his emotions.

And…

Why was the name "Neo Hargraves" reacting?

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) tried to suppress the name, thinking he was losing control of the emotions because of it.

But the more he tried, the harder the name fought. As if it had an endless willpower.

The name wanted to remind him of something.

'Your promise.'

'Don't forget it.'

Memories.

They were coming back to him.

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) struggled against them, thinking the memories of such a short time were not important.

And yet…

Tears began to fall from his eyes.

"Are you okay?" Persephone asked with concern.

"Yes. I… I was just too overwhelmed with happiness."

Eternal Transcendent (Endless Hell) — no, Neo Hargraves smiled.

End of novel.

Author's Note.

Hello everyone. I hope you've enjoyed Neo's journey.

It's been a long road. This novel began back in August 2024. I just opened my laptop and started writing a novel randomly to cure my boredom.

I never thought that something that started like that would become such a big part of my life.

I enjoyed it a lot. There were hard times too. Sometimes I would get stuck at a plot point, and nothing would come to mind.

But despite all of that, both this novel and all of you became something very close to my heart.

I know many of you have been frustrated with the things he had to endure, especially the constant "nerfs."

But the truth is, Neo's path was always meant to represent a human trying to stand against a "God", an opponent you simply cannot defeat through normal means.

This story was about someone walking through hell, or worse, for the sake of their happiness and ambition.

Yes, the enemies he faced were always far too strong.

And that was intentional.

I've never liked it in other stories when all-powerful enemies conveniently wait for the protagonist to become stronger.

If they're truly all-knowing and all-powerful, why wouldn't they act first?

Why wouldn't they try to end things immediately?

So that's how I wrote Neo's journey: enemies who were aware of him, who wanted to use him, and who never gave him the luxury of time.

I understand that some of you may feel it was too cruel.

But this was always a story about conquering impossible odds.

Neo's suffering and setbacks were part of that theme.

His willpower was meant to remind everyone—and myself—that no matter how harsh life becomes, do not give up. Happiness will eventually find its way back to you.

For those who stayed until the end, thank you. I hope the payoff makes the entire journey feel worth it.

For those who want to read something similar to "Extra's Death: I am Son of Hades", you can check out my new novel, Shadow Dragon: The Fallen Angel Is My Teacher.

It follows a similar tone, and I'm confident you'll enjoy it just as much as Extra's Death: I Am the Son of Hades, if not even more.

P.S. — The protagonist of Shadow Dragon is the reincarnation of Apollyon.

Next chapter will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
