Luis realized why she was standing so far away and immediately put out his cigarette.

Then he said with a laugh, "Otherwise, what did you think? That I'm some pretty boy gigolo? I wish I could live off a rich woman, but unfortunately, I never got the chance."

"My wife and I were each other's first love, and we stayed together all the way until marriage. Her family has three daughters; the eldest married out, so I became the live-in son-in-law."

Chloe felt a warmth in her heart. Holding the child, she walked over, sat down beside him, and said softly, "Husband, I'm really not crazy. I just thought your wife's family must be very wealthy."

"Why? Do you think she's ugly?"

Luis kissed her cheek and said playfully, "My wife's family really isn't wealthy. They live in City Garden Phase One, where the property prices aren't even half of what yours are here."

Chloe suddenly felt a dark jealousy stirring within. Gritting her teeth, she said, "If you ever get divorced, I'll transfer this property to you. Who does she think she is, taking advantage of you so brazenly like some kept man?"

"Chloe, no jealousy now."

Luis held her tighter, chuckling as he said, "Right now, I'm buying a house for my mother-in-law, buying her a Cayenne. Honestly, the simple truth is, I love her."

"Being a live-in son-in-law without any money didn't matter to me. I'm a man; the most important thing is to shoulder responsibility for the family. She fought for our love, so why shouldn't I do the same?"
