Tollivar has been living his entire time in this remote village; as such, he didn't know the legendary feat that Reinhardt accomplished or the fact that the man in front of him was no high ranking knight, but someone who had climbed his way to a much higher realm, a level 10 hero.
"But isn't this the same for you and the villagers?"
Is Tollivar trying to get himself and the village killed?
"Even though you have become a high ranking knight, it looks like you still have a lot to learn, brat."
As his memories were foggy. He was probably mistaking the current Reinhardt with the young knight he had once saved.
"Have you forgotten the knight's code of conduct, the Rule of Steel that I told you?"
No, he didn't; every word, every syllable was etched in his memories.
"Rule no. 5, Die standing, not kneeling- Surrender is a luxury the knight cannot afford. If death comes, it finds them on their feet. Rule no. 8…"
"Protect the flames of hope- Even when the world burns, the knight guards the last ember. That ember is the future," Reinhardt completed the rest.
"Hehe, looks like you have learned well. Now watch from here how a knight gives his all at his final hour. This will be my last lesson for you," Tollivar grinned, a fierce expression on his face. At that very second, something incredible happened.
ZZzzzz… The giant hammer in his hand trembled intensely as if coming alive. Then, in an incredible display, the shrivelled Tollivar started getting buffed again. His muscles ballooned, aura spiked, and his height quickly breached the 2 feet 8 mark.
In the blink of an eye, the knight who was once called the [Hammer of Resolve] was back.
BOOM… the next second, her bent his legs and jumped, his incredible physical stats carrying him over the sky and towards the village. The knight left, determined to protect the future of the village.
Reinhardt, watching the back figure of the man as he zipped through the sky, exhaled a breath of air. It was a good thing that destiny led him here today, he could at least see the last moment of his friend/master as they gave their all.
He did not stop them; no, there was no need, for an unsung hero like Tollivar, the only fitting death was on the battlefield and not in bed.
"Don't worry, my friend. I will see through the life you led until the end." That is the greatest respect he could give to this great knight.
.
.
BOOM… Back in the village, something huge crashed down from the sky, causing a mini earthquake. Cattle mooed and ran away wildly, women hurriedly ran towards their children to get them to safety, while the men, alarmed by the noise, gathered towards the source.
There, they could see a mountain of a man carrying a giant hammer walk out of the crater barefoot. He had no armor on, and his upper body was completely naked. That said, those bulging muscles, rock hard and sturdy, were no less than an armor.
"You are… Tollivar?!"
The younger generation was unable to recognise who this man was, as they had never seen him so big and buff before. However, for those from the older generation, they knew the person very well.
The knight who had protected their village from bandits and monsters all this time, he was the hero of the village.
"Make way; no, take the children and get as far away as possible. Run towards the hill, there is a knight who will protect you all," Saying that, he dragged his hammer through the ground and started walking towards the church.
Every step of his leaving footprints behind on the ground.
The younger generation did not know what to make of those instructions. However, the older generation had much more faith in the knight to know better than to ignore those words. Quickly, they shouted at those people and vacated the village.
"Come out, I know who you are. Hiding inside won't help you".
Whoosh… suddenly a strong breeze hit the village, followed by the sky above suddenly turning dark and ominous.
"Kfufu… I didn't think the high level knight living in this village was still alive. Nevertheless, you took too long to notice. I have marked them with the curse of Oroboros; running away from the village will not help. And besides, who said that I was hiding?"
A creepy, almost grating laugh sounded out, followed by a man dressed in a cassock slowly walking out of the door.
The priest of the village, a man who should normally give off a pious and saintly aura, was at this moment exuding a deep, unsettling feeling.
"You think I am afraid of a no name knight? Kehehe… don't make me laugh. So what if you have found out about my plan? I will still kill everyone in the village after I am done with you," The priest, no, the demon laughed.
Immediately, his mouth opened wide, and dark slithery tendrils came out it. Not only that, his body also distorted, bending at impossible angles.
More and more ominous tentacles popped out, tearing through his skin. His hands became like claws, and wings sprouted from behind.
"I guess, I don't need this shell anymore," saying that, it tore apart the human it possessed and showed its true appearance.
A hunched skeletal frame, a dark, almost gooey like body that continuously created numerous tendrils and three horns popping out of its beast like skull. The sight was so diabolical and gory that if it were any ordinary human, they would no doubt vomit their stomach out.
However, for a knight, it was no unusual sight. Other than looking at the human whom the demon wore as its skin in pity, there was no other emotion.
"You are a Grimjaw, huh?" Named after its ominous skeletal body and jaws, the being in front of him was a high ranking demon.
Just like Scowler, they were a master of espionage, capable of hijacking a human body and devouring them from within.
