The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 314- Chaos On A Whole New Level

A little nostalgic, Reinhardt looked at the mountain like body of the knight. Perhaps it was fate's last grace for him? But they did not take away his form and allowed him to be remembered as the mountain that he was.

At this moment, the villagers also arrived back at the village and looked at the now breathless body of the knight.

Those who knew him sighed at his passing ,while those who didn't gave him their respect that he deserved. After all, this man protected them from the wicked priest; no, the demon.

Reinhardt instructed everyone to make a proper grave for him and gather near it. He would perform the last rites and use divine skill to bless this place and the villagers to dispel the lingering evil aura.

After the villagers nodded in understanding and left to carry out his instructions, he placed his attention on the church. A high ranking demon like Grimjaw masquerading as a priest, the Oroboros' curse, the blood ceremony…

Something was going on, and he needed to find out what before it could endanger any more people.

Just as he was about to head towards the village church, something drew his attention. Looking around, he saw that it was the hammer.

At this moment, it was glowing with a faint blue light and releasing a mysterious pulse. Having accompanied Sir Tollivar Stout his whole life and seemingly integrating with his skills, the hammer had turned into a unique weapon of sorts in this world that was comparable to a holy sword.

"Was it you who called me?" It might look weird seeing Reinhartd talk to a hammer. However, artifacts and relics in this world have fa aint level of sentience; as such, it could be said that he was actually talking to the hammer.

ZOOMM… as if saying yes, it made a humming noise.

"You are sad that your owner died, aren't you? Indeed, he was an excellent knight worthy of lifting you. Maybe, no, in the future you will find another master like that".

The hammer hummed again, seemingly wanting to convey something. Others might be at a loss; however, Reinhardt with his Divine Traits, was easily able to understand what it was trying to convey.

"You want me to find you a new owner? Hmm, although I don't know if I'll be able to find you a new owner who has as much potential as Sir Tollivar Stout, but I'll try my best".

Saying that, he lifted the hammer and put it inside his [Dimensional Storage]. As a Divine Paladin sworn to protect the people and fight the Forces of Darkness, his resolve was no less than the previous owner of this hammer. Hence, he could lift it easily.

.

Creak… Reinhardt pushed open the church and entered inside. After hearing the blood ceremony and realising that a summoning circle was being laid here, he expected the church to be in quite a bad shape.

Surprisingly, though the interior was intact, with nothing much changed. The Grimjaw was probably trying to keep the atmosphere of he church the same so as not to make the villagers suspect anything.

That said, if it wanted blood sacrifice for summoning a gate, then why wait so long and even go as far as to nurture an Oroboros' curse?

There was only one way to find out, and so he activated the [Eyes of Divine Clarity].

[Eyes of Divine Clarity] Description: Eyes of the god that burn with golden light, piercing all falsehoods. Use: Sees through illusions, detects weaknesses in enemies, and allows prediction of their movements.

Additionally, it can see through the past and future, destiny and fate.

A scene unfolded before Reinhardt. An event that transpired in the past. In the scene, he could see the Grimjaw still masquerading as the priest when suddenly, a being with human characteristics appeared before him.

"How are the preparations going?" the latter asked.

The grimjaw immediately fell onto its knees and reported respectfully, "Yes, Lord Vexhorn, there are no problems, everything is going smoothly. When the Holy War starts and the twelfth army invades Aetherion, to cause chaos, we will all activate the summoning gates all around the kingdom, summoning demons everywhere".

The being who was referred to as Vexhorn, nodded his head.

"Good, remember that your and the false saints' role that we have planted all around the kingdom is extremely important. When Lord Skarnyx sends the divine message to the various churches and temples, it will officially mark the holy war. There should be no mistake in the plans, do you understand that?"

The Grimjaw nodded its head. The vision ended there, and Reinhardt felt a big headache coming. Just as he thought, things weren't as simple as they appeared. He hadn't even stayed for one day in the Kingdom of Aetherion and was already embroiled in what looked like a huge conspiracy that some heavenly king had planned for years.

Call it destiny or his Divine Luck, but some kind of intervention pulled him here, probably to show him this.

After doing the last rites for his friend and master who ascended, Reinahrdt returned back to the mansion where they were staying.

The time was of night, Reinhardt was taking a bath, thinking over the events of the day.

Who knew that just a casual stroll to meet with his old friend would turn out like this? Still, he was thankful that he got to see the last moments of his friends and help the latter guide his soul towards the paradise.

"Holy War huh?"

He went there with casual feelings, not at all ready to receive this big shock. From what he could tell from their talks, it seemed like they had multiple priests and saints positioned in different holy places all over the kingdom, distorting prophesies and falsifying divine messages to start some kind of holy war.

Not only that, they were creating numeoruos summoning gates to allow the demons passage into the kingdom while the twelfth army marched towards Aetherion. It was a chaos on a whole new level.
