The Creepy-Crawler could use magic of different attributes. However, as a race more suited for espionage and magic, it was glaringly weak against physical combat. Thus, the reason why it had to use hostage tactics and everything just to keep the humans at bay.
"Gehehe… no matter what you do, it's impossible to reach me." The demon laughed. A wide magic circle bursting with powerful crimson lightning, manifested around the latter.
In the next instant, thick lightning bolts, as wide as a human body, erupted from the magic circle. Building on these bolts, additional magic was unleashed to amplify its deadly power.
The demon spared no effort and unleashed all of its strength at this moment. Numerous magics targeted the squires.
However, instead of cowering, the future knights of the realm braved forward. Putting their training into practice at this moment.
Delicia, leading the charge, cried out the name of the skill she recently learned.
"[Heroic Shield]" A large white shield made of holy energy appeared around her, tanking the magic.
The [Heroic Shield] was able to take a few hits before it was completely shattered. Delicia then used her own skill that she learned previously in the Silver Shields and endured a few more brunt of the magic, before reaching the limits of her endurance.
BANG… she was blown back, but not before firing [Lightforege Ascension] towards the demon.
[Lightforege Ascension], a skill taught by Reinahrdt to his squad. It manifested a giant orb, in his case, a huge sun of holy/divine energy that can be molded into any shape and fired at the enemy.
The [Lightforge Ascension] released by Delicia clashed against the dangerous looking lightning bolts in a clash of brilliant display of lights. In the end, it was the [Lightforge Ascension] that lost out, though it did reduce the power of the lightning bolts quite a lot.
She had done everything she could; it was now on the others.
Kevin roared out next, leading the charge and brandishing his large sword. Reason dictated that he should be lying on the ground exhausted and drained of all his stamina. Yet the boy was managing to bring out more stamina from his body and keep moving.
When his vision blurred, he bit his lips to keep himself awake. When his arms felt like they would fall off from the weight of the sword, he dragged it forward. When his legs felt like they would buckle, he would slam them awake.
He did everything he could to charge forward. Finally, the beam was in front of him. With no stamina and mana, how was he going to block those devastating thunderbolts?
The answer… he never had any. Pure reckless and belief in his own abilities was his answe. And so he roared—
"Release [Tiamat]".
GROAARR…
Usually, his sword would roar as if coming alive at this moment. However, no such thing happened this time. Instead, he felt his heart beat slowly down.
In his hyper sensitive state, he felt something enter his body from the sword, circulating through his body, veins, bones, and then charging towards his heart.
BADUMP… at that instant, a terrifying, outlandish pain assaulted the boy, and he couldn't help but grab his chest, falling onto his knees and crying out in anguish. He was so caught up in the pain that he failed to realize that he was no longer in the same place that he was just earlier.
Kevin cried out like a dying animal, his hoarse screams only coming to a stop after a long time.
Huff.. Huff… Finally, when he could divert his attention to somewhere else, he noticed that he was in an empty place with nothing in his vision. It was a huge chartreuse expanse with nothing in sight.
"W-What's going on? How did I come here?" He was talking to himself, not expecting to get a reply.
"You are in my domain. I brought you here?"
"Wha? Who is there?" Shocked, Kevin looked around. However, there was no one around him.
"You don't have to be shocked. As this is my world, I am present everywhere and nowhere. So stop with your needless actions".
"Eh? What does that mean? Why do you talk in such a confusing manner?"
"…" The voice was silent for a while before speaking in an exasperated tone. "You are not the brightest tool in the shed, are you? Tiamat sure chose a weird wielder".
At the mention of the name of his sword, some seriousness finally dawned in Kevin's face.
"You… how do you know the name of my sword?"
"How do I know? It's because I named her myself, and it's not a sword. Brat, do you have any idea what kind of fate you bear now that you wield her?"
The voice started with its abstruse words again.
"Now that you wield [Tiamat], the fate of the world is for you to bear. Remember, those who wield her cannot be ordinary. In the future, there will be more and more trials waiting for you. If you fail, the star will die and there will be no more resurrections".
"Due to the annoying laws of Causality, I cannot reveal anything more to you; you will have to find the secrets of that sword of yours, yourself. This time, I saved you. However, if you continue to push yourself like that, you will find your mind getting consumed by her. Be careful".
Kevin listened to the voice, trying his best to remember everything that was being said. He could tell that the voice was telling him something important and that he shouldn't ignore it. Soon, his brain started short circuiting from all the information.
"I guess that is the limit of what you can handle right now. I can only talk to you in this domain. So if you have anything you want to ask me, you can come visit me after you master the third ability of [Tiamat]"
RUMBLE… suddenly there was a loud rumbling noise and a tear spread in this endless chartreuse domain.
"Looks like our time is up. Is there anything you want to ask me?"
At those words from the mysterious being, Kevin nodded his head.
