The Extra Who Shouldn’t Exist

Chapter 275 : The villain vs The Devil (3)

Evelyn was still trapped in the chains of Kyle as they devoured every last trace of divinity within her.

The black chains pulsed like living serpents, sinking deep into her skin, draining her light and willpower alike. Golden cracks appeared along her arms as divine light fought back, but the chains tightened, hissing as if mocking her resistance.

Evelyn screamed, her voice echoing through the ruined field. "Damn it!"

She gathered what little divine energy she had left and forced it outward. For an instant, her radiance burst through the bindings, shattering them into pieces. But before she could even catch her breath, the shadows twisted again. The chains reformed—stronger, hungrier—and coiled around her once more.

They pulled her down to one knee. Her face was pale, sweat dripping from her brow. Still, she didn't yield. She roared, blasting the chains apart a second time.

The air exploded with golden light.

For a heartbeat, she was free. But again, the darkness slithered back, materializing from the air itself. The chains reattached, draining her energy faster than before.

Evelyn gritted her teeth, frustration and fear warring in her eyes. "Why won't these damn things break?!"

She tried again, summoning her light, but this time the chains absorbed it, turning her divine energy into fuel for their strength. She screamed in pain as the last flicker of her light dimmed.

And then, through the chaos, a voice came from behind her—soft, calm, and unmistakable.

"Evelyn."

Her eyes widened. The familiar tone pierced through the agony instantly. She turned sharply, her expression a mixture of disbelief and relief.

It was Alex—standing just behind her, his aura faintly glowing blue, his presence heavy but stable, like a silent storm about to break.

"Alex!" she screamed, voice cracking. "What's happening?! I thought you... you—"

Before she could finish, Alex spoke, his tone sharp and serious. "Look. I don't have time to answer your questions."

He walked past her slowly, eyes fixed on the chains. His hand reached out, touching one of them.

Immediately, the chains reacted, writhing violently as if sensing danger. They resisted, their black surface crackling with dark lightning.

Alex's grip tightened. His expression didn't change.

Then darkness began to spread from his hand—silent, pure, absolute. It wasn't Kyle's darkness. It was deeper, older, something that even the void itself feared.

The shadows devoured the chains whole.

Within seconds, every link binding Evelyn dissolved into black mist, erased from existence. The air went silent, as though the world was holding its breath.

Evelyn's eyes widened in disbelief. She fell back slightly, staring at her freed arms. "How... how did you—"

But Alex's voice cut through her words like a blade. "The destruction is about to begin. Save as many as you can."

Before she could respond, his form flickered—then vanished entirely, leaving nothing but a fading echo of power in his wake.

Evelyn reached out instinctively. "Wait!" But he was gone.

Silence lingered for a moment before she whispered softly, her gaze trembling. "Those eyes... it was as if he wanted to cry but couldn't."

The ground beneath her shook violently. A loud explosion echoed through the air as entire buildings crumbled into dust. A dark figure was thrown into the sky, spinning through the clouds.

Evelyn looked up and gasped. "That's him... that's Kyle!"

A flash of blue light followed immediately after, chasing the black figure through the heavens.

"Alex..." she whispered.

But then, another sound reached her ears—the screams of terrified civilians across the Human Empire. She looked down and realized the scale of what was happening. The shockwaves from their battle were tearing the sky apart, and the falling debris was threatening to destroy entire cities.

Her heart clenched. She finally understood what Alex meant.

Without hesitation, she raised both hands. Golden light surged upward, expanding across the horizon. Her aura burst outward, forming an immense barrier—a divine dome that shielded the Human Empire from the chaos above.

The impact of her spell shook the heavens. Cracks of light spread across the dome as she poured every ounce of her power into it. The barrier held.

Evelyn's breathing was ragged, her arms trembling. She looked up toward the sky where Alex and Kyle clashed among the clouds. "Please... be safe," she whispered.

A few moments earlier...

Kyle Celestian stood motionless, his expression unreadable. His face twitched, his mind struggling to process what had just happened.

For the first time since he became a Primordial's avatar—since the moment he gained his System—someone had dared to slap him.

He touched his cheek slowly, disbelief in his eyes.

'Did he just slap me... me?'

It wasn't the pain that stung him—it was the humiliation. His pride, the one thing he had always worshiped, had been shattered before the entire world.

Rage began to build. The mana leaking from his body grew wild and unstable, tearing through the earth, shattering buildings, scorching everything nearby. The world itself seemed to recoil from his fury.

Meanwhile, Alex stood calmly in front of him, his entire body glowing faintly blue. His hair swayed with the rising pressure, his eyes locked solely on Kyle.

His System's voice echoed in his mind. [ Host, Evelyn has been informed. ]

Alex didn't answer. He simply stood still, silent, his presence calm yet suffocating.

The energy around him was different from Kyle's. Controlled. Focused. Like a sleeping storm that could annihilate everything the moment it woke. It was this quiet precision that made him terrifying.

Kyle finally spoke, his voice cold and sharp. "I'll make sure to kill you slowly for this disrespe—"

PAAAAH!

Another slap landed—this time on his left cheek.

The sound echoed like thunder.

Kyle's head snapped to the side, his mind blank for a second. He couldn't even comprehend how Alex moved that fast.

In his mind, Sabrina's voice screamed. 'Kyle! This guy isn't normal! The power coming from him is unbelievable! Run now, or this won't end well!'

Kyle shouted back internally. 'You think I'm a coward?! I won't run away because of some flashy tricks! I'll kill him and prove there's no one above me—no one above Kyle Celestian! How dare he disresoect me like that.'

'Kyle, wait!' Sabrina screamed again, but he ignored her completely.

His rage erupted.

The world turned black.

A wave of abyssal energy exploded from him, spreading like wildfire. The air burned, the ground melted into molten rivers. Darkness consumed everything.

Kyle's voice twisted with hatred. "I'll destroy you!"

His aura expanded like a star collapsing in on itself. Black lightning arced through the sky, and his hands glowed with raw, destructive energy.

He turned his head just in time to see Alex's fist glowing bright blue—rushing toward him at impossible speed.

Fist met fist.

And the world trembled.

A sound rang out like glass shattering across the heavens.

The first impact sent a shockwave that tore through the sky. The air screamed as space itself cracked apart. The ground split open, entire mountains crumbling in the distance from the capital city.

Then a second blow landed—Alex's kick slammed straight into Kyle's head, so fast that Kyle barely registered the motion. His knees buckled, and he dropped, slamming both hands into the ground to stop himself from crashing face-first and kneeling infront of alex.

Alex's cold voice cut through the chaos. "See? That's your place... in front of me."

Kyle's eyes burned red. Blood ran down his cheek as he snarled, fury overwhelming pain. He moved in a blur, kicking Alex square in the chest.

The impact echoed like thunder, but Alex blocked it with both arms, skidding backward slightly. He looked up—expression blank—and shot forward again.

His fist collided with Kyle's chest, launching him high into the sky.

Alex followed, blue lightning trailing behind him.

They met midair.

The clash was like two worlds colliding.

Each strike sent waves of destruction across the sky. The clouds above burned away, replaced by a storm of lightning and darkness. Every collision warped reality, tearing open cracks of pure void.

Another impact. Then another. And another.

Each blow more violent, more destructive, than the last.

Their fists met faster than sight could follow. Thunder and shadow intertwined, the heavens trembling with each collision.

The speed of their battle transcended time itself.

To an outside observer, it was chaos—light and darkness flashing in rapid succession, each blow rewriting the sky. But in truth, the two had already clashed millions of times within that single heartbeat.

A storm of lightning raged on one side. A blinding abyssal darkness surged on the other.

Kyle's movements became erratic, desperate, driven by pure fury he couldn't believe that he was getting pummled. Each punch left trails of black fire that burned through the air, distorting the very space around him.

Alex countered every blow with precision, his fists glowing with cosmic energy, his strikes perfectly timed, perfectly placed. Every punch carried the weight of eternity.

The sky screamed. The ground bled light. The atmosphere itself began to fracture.

And amidst it all, their figures blurred—two titans locked in a battle that defied the limits of existence.
