Reith frowned when he faced the Frost Tiger.
'Unfortunately, Isho would have to wait.'
He brandished his staff and a spark of lightning crackled around it.
"I guess you don't want to live a long life." He smirked at the beast.
As if understanding his words, the Frost Tiger grunted, and then it moved, raising its hands to strike at the little runt in front of it.
Seeing this attack, Reith's hair stood on end and he brandished his staff.
"Slow down." The voice that echoed in his head belonged to Ruach and he sighed.
'He missed this feeling. The feeling of safety.'
"Sure. I missed your voice. Why have you been silent these days?" Reith said with a small smile.
He sidestepped, dodging the attack of the incoming beast.
"I was watching you practice. You have an opening to strike now." Ruach's voice came in response.
Lightning sparkled around the staff in Reith's hand and he moved his lips.
"Lightning Whip."
With a sudden twist of his wrist, he slammed the staff into the side of the Frost Tiger, sending it into the snowy trees. The Lightning Whip moved inside the tiger's body and crackled violently, causing the beast to tremble and let out a loud cry.
It had underestimated its opponent.
Reith stood still; he knew the fight was not going to end like that. He knew he had grown due to the upgrade of his cultivation.
His eyes turned to the wide mark on the snowy floor and the ring of shockwaves around him, and he marveled.
Meanwhile, outside the screen and in the wide arena, some people in the crowd rose to their feet at Reith's sudden comeback.
At first they were in shock, but now it looked like the SSS Grade boy was actually worth watching.
An old man released his grip on the handle of his seat, and a smile spread across his face. He was beyond delighted and his daughter looked at him and smiled also.
"That was our boy," the man thought, and they knew he was going to be a star.
Just as Reith thought, the Frost Tiger shot up and it was more riled up than ever.
With snarled teeth and sharpened claws the size of a human head, it moved again.
This time, it did not move close to Reith. There was a fear for the staff in Reith's hand.
With a wave of its paw, a large ice-like tsunami rose up to the sky, and from Reith's perspective it looked like some roaring beast.
Reith frowned. There was no way he could escape this. This Frost Tiger was smarter than it looked. The ice tsunami had blocked every escape opening.
Reith thought about a fire move, but with that strength, could he actually burn a hole through this tsunami? It was not possible. The tsunami covered a large distance in a couple of seconds.
Reith could only run ahead, trying to increase distance while thinking of what he could do. However, the large tsunami only got closer in seconds.
Reith turned around, still trying to move backwards. He had no other choice.
"Hana sight." He said with gritted teeth.
The only option now would be to collect this technique. Analysing the flow of hana would allow him to use the power of his emblem.
He raised his book and his eyes flashed with a golden glow.
"Copy!"
Writings appeared on the emblem of his cultivation path. 'This was it. He was getting the exact details of a beast-like technique.'
This was much better than taking the technique of a human being. Due to his increase in cultivation level, it was not hard for Reith to understand the technique in his Heavenly Path.
The letters felt like they were moving right in front of his eyes and his lips lifted in a smirk.
The waves of the large ice tsunami moved with such intensity.
The Frost Tiger rode on the large waves, with its claws bared and its large white teeth in full display. It looked like it had cornered its prey.
Large ice boulders formed from the tsunami and shot forward toward Reith.
Reith moved with matched speed and it seemed like the world had slowed down in his eyes as the boulders passed by his side.
'Few seconds more,' he thought.
Meanwhile the crowd was focused on something else on the large screen.
There was a student facing two other students. He wore a dark cloak and there was a short dagger in his hand.
"Where do you guys think you are going?" he said with a smirk, raising his head to face them.
It did not look like much, but his opponents could feel the thick bloodlust emanating from him.
"We do not have any points yet, so you cannot take anything from us." The other boy tried to act calm but every part of his body was ready for a fight. He was slowly preparing to start a fight, with his core rotating in action.
The girl hid behind him; she watched as the two boys faced each other.
"He's right. We really have not gotten anything," she said in a small voice.
The dark-clothed boy laughed sinisterly.
Their location was currently in a dark, desert-looking area, and the three of them stood in front of a broken-down pyramid. This place was rumored to have a lot of treasures.
"My name is Lain. I do not care about what you have." The boy gave them a safe smile.
This caused them to almost let their guard down.
But the other boy refused, gripping his sword by his side. "Tayd, stay behind him." he said with gritted teeth.
"Okay, Scion." From the way the girl held the boy, it was obvious they had a much closer relationship than two strangers meeting in this competition.
Lain moved forward. "Although I have a theory." He waved his dagger and brought it to his side.
Seeing the dagger sparkle by Lain's side, Scion held his sword above him.
"Do not take a step forward," Scion uttered.
Lain was taken aback and then he scoffed. This was what he hated about these nobles. They thought they had all the control.
"Or what?" With a daring glare, Lain moved faster than Scion's eyes. He dragged his dagger over the boy's neck, quickly ending his life.
As soon as Scion lost the life in his eyes, the display tag on Lain's chest flickered and a number appeared on it. It had been zero but now it rose to a hundred.
Seeing what happened, the colour drained from Tayd's face, and then she dropped to her knees.
"Please do not kill him. I swear he forced me to go with him. I did not want to go. Please, I have the healing element, I would be of use." Her shrill cries did more harm than good.
They annoyed Lain even more.
With a flick of his wrist, he threw his dagger into her skull.
"If you can betray someone in front of me, then you would not blink twice before doing the same to me." Lain scoffed, and he resumed his journey.
To think the school would be so brutal in setting a rule.
Lain chuckled. This was just the beginning.
He had maintained a simple look during school hours. Now was the time to show his true strength.
