Instigator and Protector of Violence

Chapter 109: I Will Return Like Lightning

Winster Grand Court hasn't seen such a lively scene in many years.

Almost before dawn, it was already crowded with people.

Among them were reporters from newspapers, but most were there for the spectacle.

Everyone wanted to see what the final outcome for Ethan would be.

And not only in front of the grand court, but also outside the detention center, there were many people.

The truly sharp, or rather ambitious, reporters were all lurking there, wanting to catch Ethan's words the moment he came out.

9:00 AM.

Ethan came out of the detention center on time, today wearing a deep black coat with a white shirt underneath, paired with a dark floral tie, his hair combed back slick, the ends standing stiff like steel wires, making him appear solemn and menacing.

As if to say, today I'm going to battle.

So much so that his appearance stunned many people.

After a moment, flashlights began to go off, followed by continuous lights, and people surged toward Ethan like a tide, the security personnel originally there to detain him now became his protectors.

After much jostling, Ethan finally got into his car.

But the commentary, questions, never dissipated around the car.

The buzz persisted even at the entrance of the grand court and only became more intense with the growing crowd.

People were vying to shout at Ethan.

Questions such as, do you think you are innocent.

Can you achieve victory today.

Is the bootlegging issue the city's cancer.

Various queries.

Ethan did not answer any of them.

He climbed the stairs step by step, about to walk into the court.

At the last moment, he finally turned around and looked at everyone: "Ladies and gentlemen, I don't understand who has orchestrated this conspiracy against me, but I am confident that I will ultimately triumph, and I will return like lightning."

For the last sentence, he clenched both fists tightly.

This scene was naturally captured on camera.

If Ethan wins the trial today, this photo will be priceless.

9:30 AM.

Ethan was already standing in the defendant's dock in the judicial hall.

Opposite him was the prosecution team, a formidable group assembled by the youngest Judge, Richard Anderson.

Among them, a familiar face, Murphy Demier.

At this moment, he was also staring at Ethan, perhaps still obsessed with the phrase "I will give him an offer he can't refuse," looking at Ethan with particularly hostile eyes.

In the center of the judicial hall, Ned had already taken his seat, today wearing the most sacred outfit of a Chief Judge, his eyes indifferent, seemingly not favoring anyone.

The audience seats were also filled.

Sofia and Anya were uncharacteristically coexisting harmoniously.

George, John Hott, and many familiar faces were present.

Among them, naturally, was the catalyst for this storm, Albertine Court.

And the mastermind, Sandro.

As Ned forcefully struck the gavel, the trial officially began.

The prosecution team struck first, but the first to speak was not Judge Richard Anderson, but Murphy behind him.

Murphy stepped forward, holding a pile of documents, first showing them to Ned, then to the audience: "Honorable Chief Judge, and everyone present, as you can see, this is Mr. Ethan Polleta's ownership of those four ships, this is a contract copy, clearly written in black and white, oh, by the way, I was actually present that day too, and I can testify to Mr. Ethan's ownership of those ships."

While saying this, he looked at Bob beside Ethan, with a provocative expression.

Sweeping away the pain of being snatched by Bob that day.

Following closely was Robert, also a good student of Duval, who stepped forward to testify about the reporting status of those four ships sailing that day.

The form showed there was no alcohol on board, of course, there couldn't be any, but many things that should have been there were missing.

This was the suspicious part.

From this, it could be concluded that the four ships were suspected of smuggling.

Following this, the members of the prosecution team took turns presenting evidence and accusations.

Finally, even Richard Anderson took the stage, with only one person remaining seated throughout.

That person was naturally the famed lawyer, Duval.

Duval was a person much like Sandro in temperament.

Although they looked different, Duval, a towering and dignified man brimming with righteousness, and Sandro's appearance, were absolutely not the same type.

Upon closer look, however, it became apparent that he and Sandro were very similar, both quietly in control of everything.

For instance, now, he hadn't spoken throughout, sitting in the most rearward position of the litigation team, yet gave off the impression that he was the core of the entire team.

Even his aura was slightly on par with Ned at the center.

Setting aside appearance and externality, one might say he was Sandro's spitting image.

No wonder he and Sandro had been partners for so many years and were the best of duos.

It was evident that Sandro had contributed a lot to today's trial.

At this point, the prosecution's part was almost complete, with Marvin serving as a witness, recounting everything that happened at the docks that day.

After recounting, he continued to describe Ethan.

"Ethan is suspected of orchestrating a massive bootlegging operation, for which we previously suffered a lack of evidence, this time, he can't escape!"

He concluded with this sentence.

At this point, all the evidence had been piled up; from the existing evidence and witnesses, Ethan had almost no chance of turning things around.

In the audience, lawyers entering through connections were already drafting the latest reports.

The content invariably described Ethan losing the lawsuit, about to face a long prison term.

Even though the defense had yet to speak.

Still, no one placed hope in Ethan and his lawyer, Bob Older.

As Richard moved to conclude the presentation of evidence, Ned finally turned his gaze towards Ethan and his team.

"Defense, do you have anything to add or refute?"

"Yes, Your Honor." Bob took a deep breath, "We object, Mr. Ethan has always been a good citizen passionate about public welfare, he could not possibly be involved in bootlegging, this is undoubtedly a false accusation against him, the so-called bootleg on those ships absolutely does not exist, so we demand the presentation of the so-called bootleg, and then let everyone present witness to see if it is real."

When he said this.

Whether it was the audience or the prosecution team, they were somewhat incredulous.

Is this guy crazy?

How could he make such an absurd request?
