After returning to their room, Merina didn't stay long. She said goodbye and left, heading back to the temple. She was still in shock, unsure of what exactly had happened.
She had thought those two young men were going to be executed, and guilt weighed heavily on her. But nothing went the way she expected, the Grand Priest even allowed them to join the temple.
Her worldview had been shattered twice in one day, and she needed some time to rest.
Meanwhile, after she left, Drael jumped onto the bed and leaned back against the wall as if he wasn't even on the third floor.
"Has your second phase started?" Daniel looked at him and asked calmly.
"Yeah. What about you?"
"What's your second phase?" Daniel didn't answer his question and instead asked back.
Drael wanted to tease him a little, but when he saw Daniel's cold, serious face, he froze and abandoned the idea.
He felt like he was walking on the edge between life and death. If their second phases didn't match, there was a real chance he'd be killed right there and then.
"Burn the Crimson Temple."
"So our phases are the same, huh? Good." Daniel glanced at him, and the invisible pressure faded. He had been slightly worried that their phase goals might differ and put them against each other.
If that happened, he'd have to kill this idiot, but for now, it seemed there was no need.
"So what do we do? Burn the temple?" Drael exhaled in relief and asked.
"Do we have any other choice? When it gets dark tonight, we'll move and burn the temple." Daniel replied, sitting down on the chair without even looking at him.
He had been a bit worried that the Grand Priest might be too powerful, but after observing and assessing him, he realized the man was, at best, a Half Step S Rank.
In other words, weaker than the creature he fought inside the tomb, and far weaker than the sleeping monster in the canyon that nearly crushed him.
"Huh? So soon? What a shame." Drael sighed. He had wanted to take control of the temple, but it seemed he wouldn't get the chance.
Daniel ignored him and fell into thought. There were too many things about the Crimson Temple that bothered him, things that could interfere with his plans.
First of all, the statue was headless. He didn't know why, but it felt strangely familiar, as if he had seen it before.
Especially the aura coming from it. He had a feeling he knew who it might be.
Thinking about it now, if it really was that person, then they might know what truly happened, maybe even the truth behind the canyon and the buried god.
"What about that creature in the depths of the temple?" Drael suddenly asked, as if something had just come to his mind.
"I don't know." Daniel frowned slightly. If there was anything that could actually threaten him, it was that thing down there.
He didn't know how much of the wall carvings were true, but he was certain something existed in the depths, especially since, when he first entered the temple, he felt an indescribable being looking right at him for a moment.
He was a bit worried that burning the temple might trigger that creature's attack. In fact, he even suspected that the final phase might involve killing it.
'If that's the case, then I'll need to get stronger,' he sighed. There were ways to grow stronger, but they would take time.
Still, if it came to that, he had no choice but to do it.
"We should probably kill the Grand Priest too. I get the feeling he's not planning anything good for us," Drael said, changing the subject.
"I felt that too. He's probably planning to keep us here forever, or maybe turn us into his brain-dead followers." Daniel laughed.
The Grand Priest's intentions were clear to them from the start. Anyone with half a brain could see it just by reading Merina's expressions, everyone in that hall had ill intent toward them.
Unfortunately for those fools, the two of them weren't weak. They were just hiding their true power.
"You should get some rest. We'll need to be at our peak tonight." Daniel then suggested, closing his eyes.
Drael nodded and lay down on the bed. He didn't really need rest, after all, he wasn't planning to fight. At best, he'd just be watching.
Then, as if remembering something, he quietly got up and left the room. He didn't say anything because he was sure Daniel already knew he had left.
After he was gone, Daniel slightly opened his eyes, sighed, and then closed them again. He didn't know what that idiot was planning, but he was sure it wouldn't mess up their plans.
In fact, Daniel had a guess about what Drael was planning to do, and he honestly hoped he would go through with it.
Part of him wanted to see whether this idiot's abilities were really as great as he always bragged about.
Even Daniel himself had started to doubt whether Drael actually had any manipulation abilities at all, but after seeing his performance today, his opinion had slightly changed.
Still, thinking about how much trouble Drael had caused so far, he suddenly got a bad feeling. Was he going to cause more problems again?
He summoned his Fallen, Elarion, and ordered him to secretly keep an eye on that fool and make sure he didn't cause any trouble.
After that, he finally felt at ease and focused on a different matter, where exactly was this place in the Celestial Domain? Or was it even part of the Celestial Domain at all?
As far as he knew, most of the tower's floor environments were inspired by the history and past of the Celestial Domain.
Just like the second floor. So this place might also be a fragment of its past.
Of course, he had no idea how wrong he was , this was a completely different world, one that no longer existed.
