The Prophet of Eternity fell silent for a moment. The light flowing around his body remained still, as if even breathing was unnecessary for him. Then he spoke in a calm but heavy voice.
"The bloodline of the Fallen God… is one of the most powerful bloodlines in the entire cosmos."
Within the cosmos, countless worlds existed. Even if all of them were taken into account, along with the Celestial Domain, the realm of the gods, and other god-level bloodlines, the bloodline of the Fallen was undoubtedly among the very top. If it was not the strongest, it was at least one of them, and he personally believed it was the strongest.
Daniel said nothing. He simply listened.
"This bloodline carries several fundamental laws: the Law of Immortality, the Law of Eternity, the Law of Death and Life, and even traces of the Law of Fate. Something no mortal should normally be able to endure."
One of his long-standing curiosities had always been how the Fallen had managed to create such an overwhelming bloodline, and how he had even used multiple Supreme Laws in its creation.
Unfortunately, he had never received an answer. That man had kept the secret to himself.
"Even I don't know exactly how this bloodline ended up inside your body. When I examined you for the first time in that tower, I noticed its existence. I immediately transmitted all the information to my main body."
He paused briefly.
"That was when I realized… the Fallen God had chosen a successor."
Daniel frowned.
"After the exile, the Fallen God's bloodline was separated from him so that his power would be completely weakened. But I don't know where that bloodline was kept, or how it came into your possession," the Prophet continued.
The Fallen's bloodline was one of the greatest reasons why the Inner Gods suffered such severe damage during the war.
In fact, if it were not for that bloodline, one that allowed the Fallen to transform an army of Void monsters into the Fallen, how could the Inner Gods have been injured so badly despite the massive difference in numbers between the two sides?
"However, the fact that you can use it is already the answer. This would be impossible without the Fallen's own will. Even this power reaching you… is the result of his choice."
After the Inner Supreme Gods obtained the Fallen's bloodline, they tried to control it and even make use of it.
No matter how hard they tried, they failed.
"I don't know how," he added quietly.
Daniel frowned. Once again, the same result. A half-answer. Not what he wanted. It seemed that no one except the Fallen God himself knew the real truth.
He took a deep breath and decided to put the question aside for now.
"So what should I do?" he looked directly at the Prophet and asked. He wanted to know why he had been chosen as the Fallen's successor.
The Prophet remained silent for a while, then spoke.
"You were chosen to carry one of the most powerful bloodlines in this cosmos. You can use it however you wish. That choice is yours."
He paused.
"And you don't need to worry about conflicts between the two sides. Even if all the Mortal Supreme Gods were to return, it is unlikely that another war would break out."
His eyes darkened slightly.
"For now, there is a far greater threat."
"A greater threat? What could possibly threaten gods?" Daniel asked immediately.
The Prophet raised his hand and pointed forward.
The Sea of Stars stretched out before them, endless, filled with distant lights and countless worlds, each carrying its own story.
"This is the Sea of Stars. A place where innumerable worlds exist. Both of the worlds you belong to are part of this sea."
His gaze turned cold.
"The duty of the gods is to protect this sea."
"From the beginning of creation until long after the war of the gods, nothing happened here. But a few hundred years after that war… everything changed."
The atmosphere grew heavier.
"Worlds began to be devoured one after another. They were corrupted… and then destroyed."
"We investigated and discovered that beings known as Corruption Beasts were attacking these worlds. They devour the inhabitants of each world, corrupt them, and eventually destroy the entire world."
"We tried to intervene. But at that time, Corruption Beasts appeared whose power was on par with the gods," the Prophet continued without pause.
His gaze darkened. The gods stood at the peak of the cosmic hierarchy. They had never imagined that beings could exist that were capable of matching them.
But unfortunately, reality was different. Even stranger was the fact that the origin of these Corruption Beasts was completely unknown.
"They prevented our interference."
A brief silence followed.
"Since then, we have been at war with them. And as time passes… we are retreating more and more each day."
"So that's why you sent the towers?" Daniel frowned and asked.
"Yes." The Prophet nodded.
"With the help of the towers, we connected two worlds together. Two connected worlds have a higher chance of resisting. And the beings of both worlds can grow stronger."
"I didn't expect something like this," Daniel sighed.
"How many worlds have these Corruption Beasts destroyed so far?" he asked after a brief silence.
"A lot," the Prophet answered immediately. That single word was enough.
"Is there a way to deal with them?" Daniel asked.
The Prophet opened his mouth to answer, but suddenly paused. He raised his head.
The space changed.
Powerful auras, distant and invisible, yet heavy, were gazing down at them from above.
"You've heard enough," the Prophet said as he turned his gaze back to Daniel.
"But I still have a lot of questions," Daniel replied immediately.
"For now, this is enough," the Prophet answered calmly.
"You've spent too much time here. And outside… there are many who are waiting to hunt you."
Daniel frowned. He remembered that those demons were still waiting for him outside the Pagoda.
