Aurora only scoffed. She didn't even dignify the guy with a reply. Instead, she lifted one hand with lazy grace like a queen swatting away a fly, and the air around her trembled.
A second later, the ground beneath Michael's group cracked with a thunderous boom. Spikes of dark energy erupted upward, razor-edged tendrils of corrupted divine energy.
The attack was clearly something she just whipped up on a whim, but it was still powerful enough to maim a few of them. Not every C rank was able to dodge it, and even Michael only barely stepped aside.
Michael's eyes turned cold, and his voice became stern. "You have become crazy! You have completely lost your damn mind!"
Aurora did not care. She let loose another attack.
"Have you lost it? Have you forgotten that you are to be betrothed to my brother? How dare you act like this! You are going against your own family!"
Aurora still pretended not to hear him. She simply continued attacking, her latest move draining more than 10% of one of the C rank's health.
"I did not believe when the others told me about you, but you have really lost your damn mind, woman. Wake up. You are fighting for a dog who will be put down today. A blood sucking rabid mongrel. Are you naive enough not to even see that? Or are you under some kind of spell?"
Michael then turned to his men. "She has gone crazy. Make sure nothing happens to her. Just capture her alive."
Aurora finally spoke up, a tad bit of anger apparent on her stunningly beautiful face. "Shut your filthy mouth. You cannot talk about my husband like that. You don't even deserve to stand in front of him. Who is the dog here? You are the one who wags your tail and bows and worships someone else! My husband doesn't worship anyone!"
Michael's aura immediately changed. If he was irritated before, he was truly angry now.
"You crazy bitch. You dare talk about our God like that?" His voice trembled with rage, and the divine aura around him ignited in a burst of golden radiance, causing the air to shimmer and tremble under the pressure.
"You've fallen so far, Aurora. Do you have any idea what you've done? Do you even understand who you've sided with? You are even calling him your husband? Did you already spread your legs for him?" His golden eyes blazed behind the mask as he stepped forward, holy energy crackling around his hands like divine lightning.
But Aurora didn't flinch. If anything, her lips curled into a wicked smile, the kind that held both mockery and pity.
"I know exactly who I've sided with," she said. "And you should thank whatever deluded god you kneel to that he hasn't decided to wipe you from the face of this world yet."
Black mist curled around her feet, and the air chilled as her wings lifted again, feathers quivering with latent force. "And spreading my legs… I… I…" She simply blushed and did not say anything. However, this was more than enough to give all sorts of misleading answers.
Michael's jaw clenched so hard it cracked audibly. "You'll regret this betrayal."
Aurora's grin widened. "I will not regret anything. Now shoo. Go away and don't ruin my reunion day. Just end this stupid war already. I have many things to do with my husband."
"You fucking slut!" Michael was livid. "I knew you did not deserve my brother from day one. A cheap slut like you, born to commoner lapdogs, will only act like a bitch. Go and lick his dick for all I care."
Aurora's face flushed. "Stop saying weird things." She again looked down like a shy little girl and played with her fingers nervously, poking her right index finger at the left finger. "I was talking about having a long walk on the beach with my love and then gazing into each other's eyes. If he wants then… I am willing to do… cough… whatever you said… but first… I think I-"
Michael's face twitched violently, a vein throbbing near his temple. He clenched his fists so tightly that the gauntlets creaked under the pressure. He didn't even try to respond this time. There was no reasoning with her anymore.
She wasn't just defying their family. She was mocking everything Michael believed in, everything their Order stood for. More importantly, she has gone against their God, and that alone made her unworthy of any kind of redemption.
"Enough," he growled, his divine aura exploding outward like a halo of gold fire. "I gave you a chance. You spat on it. Capture her, now! She is clearly under some sort of mind control. Capture her and we will slowly teach you who you are and who you should be!"
But just as his men surged forward, another wave of oppressive power blanketed the battlefield. Damon activated [Blood Storm], willing for the technique to complement Aurora's domain.
"Dude, when a woman tells you 'No', it means 'No'. Come on, now. Don't become the stereotypical villain. Aren't you guys supposed to be the good guys anyway?"
Michael's hand trembled from rage. "You!" he spat the word like venom.
"You cursed parasite! You dare speak here? You who led her astray with your foul blood and filthy lies?! Your time is over. Today you will be taken care of. So get lost and don't interfere in our business. This has nothing to do with you."
Damon gave a dramatic gasp and clutched his chest. "Ouch. Harsh. But unfortunately, this has everything to do with me. She is mine, you know. Did you not hear her? Apparently, we are already husband and wife!" Damon bitterly smiled. "You see, things are completely out of my control," he shrugged. "If you want to take her from me… come try."
Around them, the Blood Storm thickened. Crimson arcs danced along Damon's arms. Six peak forced C ranks dashed towards Damon. All of them were paladin knights, the strongest class against vampires.
