"Fuck." Nara cursed his bad luck. Among all the chaos in the messy battlefield, the treant somehow decided to target him. This split second was enough for Damon to break out of the shadow prison, which further enraged Nara.
To make matters worse, seeing the treant target him, more fairies started attacking him. In the meantime, Damon happily stepped back and started doing the work he came here for. He started absorbing all of the blood essence in the area, no longer bothering to hide himself.
This made his speed shoot up. Threads of blood shot up to him as more and more stats and skills popped up in his notifications. Damon greedily took it all in.
His luck stat quickly crossed the 60s and entered the 70s. In the blink of an eye, it went as high as 85. Other than this, he also gained quite a few shadow skills, many interesting ones at that.
His bloodline extraction skill worked randomly, but with his luck stat shooting up, he was getting better and better outcomes. Everything was working hand in hand.
Alzara saw this and her eyes widened in shock. Even though she did not understand what exactly was going on, she could feel Damon getting visibly stronger, faster, and more powerful. And then, he suddenly changed tactics.
The man who was only watching and hiding up until now finally started making his move!
Alzara gulped as she couldn't stomach what she saw next. The entire scene could only be described as a complete massacre. She thought that Damon had gone all out earlier, but that was her own foolishness and inability to perceive things.
The vampire in front of her possessed seemingly boundless powers. In the blink of an eye, the entire place became filled with blood. There were blood tendrils everywhere, and they moved like serpents of crimson light, wrapping around everything that dared to move.
Fairies, assassins, and even fragments of Nara's shadow constructs were dragged screaming into the air. The tendrils twisted, constricted, and then burst, raining red mist. Except that the red mist was also extremely poisonous.
"If you don't want to die, get out of here." Damon's voice sounded.
Alzara snapped out of her trance. She took one last look in the direction of the tomb. Biting her lips, she dissolved into a pile of sand and disappeared. One by one, her fan club as well quietly fled the scene.
The entire spotlight was on Damon, which made it easy for them to slip away. Suddenly, the cute snake appeared again, but this time, it slithered onto Damon, and when it reached Damon's hand, the snake turned into a gemstone. It was the same gemstone Alzara had used to break the tomb's barrier.
Damon smiled. The sneaky princess wasn't too bad after all. It looks like the key to the tomb was in his hands. Now all that was left was to deal with these troublesome, pesky assassins, and he would be able to check out the real secret in the fairy dungeon, something that no one in his last life had even managed to come close to.
Damon snapped out of his thoughts as an enraged howl tore through the bloody mist. It looks like Umbra's hand finally caught up to everything that was happening. Nara's killing intent surged like an ocean of black ink, drowning out the light. Shadow spears erupted from every direction, tearing through the air with ear-splitting force.
Damon did not look too bothered. He only needed a wave of his hand, and a shadow shield appeared, which absorbed all of the shadow attacks.
Nara's face twisted in disbelief. "Impossible… how can you use Umbra's magic?"
"Dude… why do you think you should be the only person in the whole world capable of using sadow magic? Don't you think that's a bit foolish?"
Nara did not care for the response too much. He was asking something else, and Damon was spouting random nonsense. Yet, the truth was right in front of him. The reality was undeniable.
This bloodsucker was not just wielding ordinary shadow magic. He was wielding Umbra's shadow magic, something that was not even available to the members of the Umbra's hand. Only the core members had access to the legacy after succeeding in the trials.
Then how did this vampire come into possession of something similar? Perhaps their God's legacy was available somewhere else too? Either way, this fight just became something else. He could no longer afford to lose here.
However, the situation was out of his control. Nara gritted his teeth and made a decision. Winning was probably not the best course of action here. Moreover, he was dealing with a new type of poison that needed to be researched. He needed to leave this place alive.
He needed to inform the rest of the hand about this new development, one that was connected to their God. This was what they had been waiting for all this time. A way to increase their strength. A way to make their association even more powerful. A connection to reach their God.
And now that the opportunity had presented itself, he couldn't afford to lose himself in petty vengeance and other irrelevant things. The fairy king's tomb was enticing, but their god's legacy came first and foremost.
Nara's shadow form flickered as his mind raced. Damon was standing in the center of a storm of blood and darkness, calmly absorbing everything around him like a black hole devouring the world. He did not hesitate and made the decision to retreat for the time being.
Damon noticed the flicker of movement. His eyes turned toward Nara like two predatory suns. "Leaving so soon? You're not done entertaining me yet."
Before Nara could respond, the ground under him liquefied into a pool of crimson. Dozens of blood tendrils shot up, spiraling toward him like hungry serpents. He instantly split into multiple shadow bodies, scattering in all directions.
