Apocalypse: Hero of Potato Fields

Chapter 122: Building the City Wall

In the void.

Lin Yi silently pondered.

That so-called Lord of Space-Time, Terghai, shouldn't be a fool.

He wouldn't dare attack a World of Space-Time Fragments with twice his own brightness.

Then there's only one explanation left.

This guy sent scouts to gather information before the Shelter recruited so many people.

Then, after discovering no anomalies and thinking it was an easy target, he decided to attack with full force...

This also explains why Solomon reported that— a small hole appeared in the mist, creatures came out from it, and then ran away.

Heh heh...

This guy doesn't know now that the Shelters' combat power is double his own.

He's going to hit a hard wall!

Lin Yi was in a good mood. By observing the stars, he confirmed that the enemy would attack from the south.

So he quickly floated back to the Shelter, immediately ran to his laptop, and began planning defense.

He decided to give the opponent a surprise.

Let's begin planning!

First, he planned to construct a huge reinforced concrete wall.

Considering the size of the Shelter, this wall would be over 2000 meters long in the end.

The wall is 1 kilometer wide, 15 meters high, and 1 meter underground.

He also set up steel shooting holes and armored machine gun nests on the wall.

This allowed the soldiers to fend off attacks from the mist wall or the air.

The wall had a 1-meter wide metal platform for soldiers to climb onto the wall top. These platforms were strong enough to hold several tons of weight.

The entire area in front of the wall, and the position extending 100 meters into the mist, were brightly illuminated with floodlights.

He also installed a huge steel gate, which could withstand at least a dozen grenade blasts.

After finishing all this, it cost him a total of 148,000 Coins and 80 tons of materials...

Interestingly: The Shelter could convert materials like iron, copper, and aluminum into steel, but this process greatly reduced the value that the materials could provide.

Confirmed no one in the construction area.

Lin Yi painfully— confirmed the purchase.

A massive reinforced concrete wall rose from the ground with a tremendous noise.

This instantly attracted everyone's attention.

Moments later, Solomon, along with several new commanders, Hubert, Blaise, and Immanuel, arrived.

"Boss! Does this mean the enemy will attack from the south?"

The stone man Solomon had worked with the boss for a long time and was already familiar, soon guessed correctly.

Lin Yi nodded.

Damn it, he's heartbroken now.

These defense facilities almost drained all his savings; anyway, he was going to make the enemies pay for every Coin spent!

If given more time, he could have collected more materials, saving at least 50,000 Coins.

Now, the new residents don't even have a place to live.

If someone could live in a comfortable apartment while others could only sleep on the cold ground wrapped in rags, such inequality would soon trigger—

A lot of conflicts and social class divisions.

All this was the Time-space lord's fault!

"Do you feel my anger?" Lin Yi grinned, asking with a smile.

Solomon, Hubert, Blaise, and Immanuel had cold sweat on their foreheads.

"Feel... felt it, boss..."

"I want the enemies all buried in bottomless pits."

"Yes, boss!" The four shouted simultaneously.

Then, the four swiftly ran to their respective teams, taking those who could fight to the armory. They asked Sylvie to distribute usable weapons to them.

The Shelter had plenty of weapons!

-128 various brand and model pistols.

-100 SIG Sauer MPX submachine guns.

-140 Remington 870 shotguns.

-22 various model assault rifles.

-4 Third Level swords.

-31 Second Level swords.

-8 Second Level bows and 2 Third Level bows.

-20 Lucky Axes.

-Several boxes of hand grenades, two machine guns.

The three new commanders brought over 300 warriors— 312 to be exact.

Some were just armed militias, but compared to the previous 56 soldiers in the Shelter, with the advantage in numbers, they barely count as a strong combat force.

The area near the south wall was bustling.

Some soldiers occupied favorable positions, while others moved ammunition and equipment onto the wall, hiding them in special defense zones.

The Professor and Martha, two medical personnel, set up a medical camp about 100 meters away from the wall.

Louis, in his repair workshop, was desperately making as many Molotov cocktails as possible.

Louis' chemical formula was complex and dangerous; previously, he couldn't find anyone to help.

Now, Immanuel excitedly reported that the person in the Cathedral responsible for making explosives survived.

Now, Louis and his new assistant were practically taking off in the speed of making Killing Cocktails.

The invasion was two minutes away.

Everyone in the Shelter waited nervously, anxiously, yet excitedly.

~~~~~~
Not long ago.
In the time-space lord's palace.
The palace, built of the bones of some gigantic creature, had a floor made of blood-red stones.
In the center of the palace was a huge hall illuminated by torches, with a skull of some kind of lizard that was several times larger than a tyrannosaurus skull.
A creature about three meters tall, vaguely human-like, sat on a throne made of various skulls.
His skin was bright red, with a hugely massive body and limbs, almost no neck, a bald head covered in countless tattoos.
The creature's expression was serious, with two huge fangs protruding from his mouth.
He rested his face and chin on his hand.
Waiting and waiting, waiting and waiting...
Suddenly, a huge double door opened.
A creature walked in, appearing older, not as massive.
His skin was gray-orange, dressed in a shapeless deep red cloak.
He knelt on the ground, shouted loudly.
"Great Master! Invincible Master! Father of our race! The scouts have returned."
"Speak, Shu."
"Scouts report— target is locked, they have hundreds of slaves, the number of warriors is unknown, defensive strength is negligible, easy prey!"
Shu spoke slowly, but it wasn't a quirk; he had to stop to catch his breath every few words.
"Great Master, are warriors ready?"
"Two thousand young men, one thousand warriors."
Terghai opened his mouth, revealing countless sharp teeth, his voice seemingly containing some power, forcing Shu to bow even lower.
Shu's head hit the blood-red stone floor, he trembled and said.
"Invincible Master, isn't this too much? Almost all our troops."
"The Taru race is starving. The past two battles have drained our vitality. Only through combat can young men become warriors. But if they die, we have fewer mouths to feed."
Terghai grinned...
