Daniel extended his mind power outward like a vast net, scanning across countless awakeners within the Land of Origin.
Before long, he locked onto several individuals who showed the potential to ascend to Fake God rank.
Among them, one name immediately caught his attention — Odin, the former Human Emperor.
At present, Odin's advancement mission was crystal clear: he had to personally slay two thousand demigods, and then participate in a Fake God–level battle, emerging victorious in the end.
It was a grueling task, one that could easily crush anyone else.
But Daniel, after a brief moment of contemplation, already had a rather brilliant idea.
He opened a shimmering teleportation channel and sent an invitation to Odin.
The moment Odin received the signal, he didn't hesitate.
He stepped through the gateway without a word, his figure dissolving into light and reappearing before Daniel in the blink of an eye.
"Odin, long time no see!"
Daniel greeted him warmly, striding forward and clapping him on the shoulder.
"I didn't expect that after only a few days apart, your strength would've grown this much. You're already on the verge of Fake God rank!"
Odin's transformation was astonishing.
Compared to the man Daniel once knew — the cautious, overburdened ruler who carried the weight of all humanity — the current Odin was reborn.
When he had served as Human Emperor, his level hadn't even reached half of what it was now.
But at level 500, his power had grown by more than ten thousandfold.
The difference was as vast as heaven and earth.
Back then, he hadn't even stepped into the divine tier.
Now, he stood at the pinnacle of the demigods, only one decisive step away from Fake God.
Odin smiled wryly in response to Daniel's enthusiasm.
"Daniel, don't tease me," he said, shaking his head. "Even if my strength has improved this much, compared to you, it's not even worth mentioning."
He wasn't being humble.
He was being painfully honest.
Odin knew perfectly well that his rapid growth was largely thanks to Daniel's generosity — the vast resources, the training environments, and the knowledge Daniel had shared.
Combined with Odin's own high talent, that support had forged the powerhouse he was now.
But Daniel…
Daniel was different.
He had carved his path with his own hands.
He had personally slain Fleshheart, a peak Fake God, and had annihilated the entire Angel of Gold and Silver race single-handedly.
His strength might still be labeled "demigod," but Odin was certain that even a million copies of himself wouldn't stand a chance against Daniel.
The difference between them was beyond comparison — it was the difference between mortals and myths.
Odin took a deep breath, his tone turning solemn.
"Daniel, to be frank, I know our relationship is close. But I also know this — everything I've achieved so far, I owe to you. Without your guidance, without your help, I'd never have reached this level."
He straightened his posture, then lowered his head respectfully, his voice filled with reverence.
"Praise be to you, heir of the Great Crossbridge Crown. You will lead humanity forward."
Daniel immediately stepped up to stop him, holding his arm with a gentle push.
"Odin, there's no need to be so formal between us. It's just the two of us here — speak freely."
"I invited you here because I wanted to talk about your ascension to Fake God rank."
He smiled faintly. "And I'll help you."
Odin's eyes widened slightly in surprise.
He hadn't expected Daniel to bring up the topic so soon.
He had only just reached level 500, and yet Daniel was already preparing to help him become a Fake God?
Was it really that simple?
Could one just reach the required level and ascend? Odin knew better.
Becoming a god was never easy — the higher one climbed, the more brutal the path became.
Each step forward demanded sacrifice, and most failed before they even caught sight of the divine gate.
But the one saying this wasn't an ordinary god.
It was Daniel, the man who had rewritten the definition of impossible.
If he said it could be done, then it could be done.
Odin's lips curved into a grin. "In that case, I'll gladly accept your help, Your Majesty Daniel."
Daniel nodded slightly, his tone calm but firm.
He knew how dangerous Odin's advancement would be.
The requirement to participate in a battle against Fake Gods was, for a demigod, essentially suicide.
One mistake, one misstep, and Odin's life would vanish in an instant.
Fortunately, Odin had already fought by Daniel's side during the battle against Fleshheart, the peak Fake God.
That battle alone fulfilled that part of the mission.
Now, the remaining condition was clear — he had to personally slay two thousand demigods.
For a fighter of Odin's caliber, most demigods posed no real threat.
But killing two thousand of them one by one would take time — and a great deal of endurance.
Daniel, however, had no intention of letting him struggle through it the hard way.
He placed a reassuring hand on Odin's shoulder.
The next instant, light engulfed them both.
When their surroundings reformed, they stood upon a remote island suspended between sea and sky.
The air shimmered faintly with divine energy.
At the island's center stood a lone demigod.
Daniel's gaze swept across him. "[Thor]," his mind noted automatically. "[Tier: Demigod.]"
He hadn't chosen this particular target for any special reason — it was simply the nearest demigod he could find.
In this era, there weren't that many of them left.
Even if one gathered every demigod from every continent and plane together, they probably wouldn't number two thousand in total.
Daniel folded his arms and stepped aside. "He's yours."
He had no plans to intervene.
Across from him, Odin already stood poised for combat, his aura flaring like a storm of divine lightning.
As soon as he landed, Odin unleashed his domain — Balance.
It was a peculiar domain, one that equalized all values within its influence.
Strength, speed, defense, luck — everything was made identical between the two sides.
And Odin, being clever, had chosen to synchronize Thor's luck value with his own.
The moment the domain expanded, Thor's status bars — HP, MP, defense, attack — all synchronized to a single value.
Three.
For a split second, Thor's eyes widened.
He could feel his divine body shrinking, his strength flickering like a candle.
But Thor was no novice.
Realizing someone had imposed a domain upon him, he immediately cast Stone Skin, encasing himself in rock armor.
His body began to swell, muscles thickening as runes flared across his limbs.
Clearly, domain effects were not absolute between equals.
At the same tier, the Balance Domain could only partially suppress the opponent's stats.
Thor roared in defiance, his voice shaking the ground.
His body swelled further, his frame expanding tenfold until he towered like a mountain.
Muscles bulged and veins glowed with divine power.
In a heartbeat, the man had turned into a giant.
But that was as far as his resistance went.
Daniel stood aside, silently watching the battle unfold.
He made no move to assist, his eyes calmly following every exchange of blows.
Odin gripped his massive battle-axe with both hands.
The weapon pulsed with blinding arcs of thunder, the air itself trembling around him.
Thor hesitated mid-stance, finally noticing something odd.
"Wait… are you human?" he shouted in disbelief.
Ever since the rise of the human race in recent months, their name had spread across the realms like wildfire.
Everyone had heard of the species that had risen from mortality to demigodhood in such a short time — and of the emperor who had slain gods.
Daniel had once asked Kartora whether such acts might affect the timestream — whether slaughtering so many beings in this ancient era would distort the future.
Her answer had been the same as Dark Star Jarvan's before her:
No.
Nothing they did in this age would alter the flow of history.
And with that reassurance, Daniel had stopped worrying altogether.
He simply folded his arms, watching as Odin's lightning-charged axe came crashing down, ready to carve open another step toward Fake Godhood.
