Marvelous Mecha

Chapter 1406: Notes

With their hearts racing, the two quickly left the café and hailed a taxi.

The driver maintained a steady yet fast pace, and in less than 20 minutes, the hovercraft had left the city and stopped in a suburban area.

Feng Yi had come prepared, raising his collar to cover half of his face. Besides, not everyone recognized him abroad, so he walked with little concern.

"Here we are, this is my home."

"Uh, here?"

Feng Yi was momentarily hesitant. It was just a modest villa, not exactly poor but certainly not wealthy, which seemed a stark contrast to Reiko's status.

As a top-tier officer, even in the military, she would be at least a school-level officer…

"Hmm..."

Reiko seemed to notice Feng Yi's brief surprise, blushing and timidly lowering her head.

Just then, Feng Yi's Heavenly Communication suddenly chimed—it was Blade Warrior calling.

"Excuse me, please wait a moment."

"It's okay."

Feng Yi answered the call: "What's the matter?"

Blade Warrior stretched and softly said, "We're facing a financial gap in quantum train production. Can you think of a solution?"

"You couldn't handle it?"

"That's why I'm asking you. All the money has been invested, and research funding has cost a lot… I really don't want to request an official loan."

Feng Yi frowned, "How much do you need?"

Blade Warrior slowly extended her fingers, two of them…

"Two trillion?"

Seeing her gently shake her head, Feng Yi asked, "Twenty trillion?"

Blade Warrior continued to shake her head…

Even Feng Yi was somewhat stirred: "Two, twenty trillion?"

"Yes."

The capital's annual total economic output is just around this, perhaps more, even though the Bounty Tribe has a vast global financial network, it would be a heavy blow—it's not something that can be readily provided.

"Why do you need so much?"

Blade Warrior responded awkwardly, "That's why I came to you. The quantum train is currently the fastest and safest transportation system, capable of reaching major star regions directly. It's faster and more energy-efficient than shuttles, doesn't require anti-gravity propulsion. However, the upfront investment is substantial, constructing space quantum tracks is a massive expense, but I guarantee the returns will far exceed the investment."

Feng Yi nodded, "I'll contact Francis later and try to seek his approval."

"You're the Executor, why need someone else's consent?"

"Basic respect, you know, he's contributed far more than I have; half of this company is practically his."

Blade Warrior seemed displeased: "Will it happen?"

"Of course it can, I guarantee. But..."

"But what?"

"I want to invest, representing the Free Bounty Tribe, and I hope you connect Mardis as the first orbital star."

"Why Mardis?"

"Expanding first to the network from the north to the south helps develop fastest, got no objection?"

"Haha, you've caught me out. Actually, I was thinking the same."

Feng Yi shrugged, adding that he hoped Star Wars Company would be part of the shares too, not much, just 1%.

Ethical companies are rare now; from love funds to recreational online shopping, Hans has consistently shown through his actions that he is a principled and conscientious entrepreneur.

Despite many ups and downs and defeats, thanks to his establishment of schools, many children on remote stars can afford education, and many orphans feel the warmth of home. Thus, Feng Yi's second request was to bring people aboard, while the remaining funds could be repaid gradually.

Blade Warrior hesitated a bit, but agreed, "Okay."

After hanging up the Heavenly Communication, Reiko stood planted where she was…

She felt as though she'd misheard, casually mentioning twenty trillion—what kind of concept was that?

Reiko suddenly felt a bit inferior, compared to Feng Yi, she seemed more like an ugly duckling. The concept of a domineering CEO falling in love with her was nonexistent to her. Fortunately, she didn't place much value on money, so under her guidance, Feng Yi was soon invited into the house.

"Sorry for the intrusion."

"Reiko, do we have company?" A woman's voice emerged from inside.

"Hello, Auntie."

Feng Yi looked at Reiko's mother—she seemed to be around fifty but well-maintained, looking like she was in her thirties.

"Yes, mom. I hope you see who it is."

The woman's gaze shifted, initially frowning, then quickly replaced by a look of surprise, "A very familiar young man, certainly, hmm, I think I've seen him somewhere."

"It's probably on TV, his name is Feng Yi, the Federation's Feng Yi."

The woman slapped her thigh, finally recalling—Federation National Defense War hero, hailed as one of the three heroes in human history.

Ecstatic, the woman exclaimed, "Keko, you've finally grown up, finally know how to have a boy… ahem." She quickly shut her mouth—what a golden catch, "I won't disturb you two, Feng Yi, please stay for dinner."

Reiko blushed again, "Mom, don't say that, we've only just met, it's not like that yet."

Feng Yi was taken aback as well—"not like that yet" implied it could be. Had there been a misunderstanding? Hmm, Auntie probably got it wrong.

Unable to refuse the warm hospitality of mother and daughter, Feng Yi could only respond with a dry laugh. After all, the main reason for seeking out Reiko was for Zi Yu, and certainly if Reiko accepted, he didn't mind helping this single-parent family.

Guided by Reiko, Feng Yi entered Lily's room.

The room was very tidy; it was clearly often cleaned. The decor brimmed with a youthful vibe, and the books on the shelf were almost all related to military and superpowers, which reminded Feng Yi of some old memories.

"What are you thinking about?"

"Haha, not much. It suddenly reminded me of sparring with her many years ago, must be around eight years?"

"You mean Lily…" Reiko's thoughts wandered, "At that time, none of us expected that wearing the Revenge Shadow Rider armor, you could actually defeat Lily."

"You must miss her a lot."

Reiko nodded, gave an affirmative "hmm," and handed over a notebook with both hands, "This is left by my sister. She was very talented and recorded many training methods for water-type superpowered beings."

Feng Yi hesitated slightly, feeling it was inappropriate to look at someone's notebook, especially that of a deceased girl—wasn't his style. But he hesitated only briefly, raising his hand to take it, "Excuse my intrusion."

"No need to mind."

Reiko understood Feng Yi's uniqueness; he must have his unspeakable reasons, so she smiled gracefully and quietly left the room.

Opening the notebook to the first page…

"July 21st, sunny. My name is Lily, I'm five years old, Lily can finally write a diary, this is Lily's first entry, so happy."

"February 28th, sunny. Last day of winter vacation. Lily, keep it up! Show more smiles, more confidence, face stepping into middle school with ease."

"May 3rd, light rain. Feeling really low, my sister is so excellent—she's beautiful, popular, and performs better academically than Lily. I have to strive harder to catch up with her and get mom to buy me a computer. Goals and rewards: first in class, the desired top I've liked for a long time. First in year, a phone. First in school, a moderately configured computer."

"November 1st, sunny. Another Singles' Day, so lonely, boys pursuing me are only after my looks."

"January x, foggy. Sister enrolled in St. Roland Military Academy. Lily is not pleased and insists on catching up with her, cheering herself on: Go, go, go!"

Through the diary, Feng Yi seemed to see the life growth of this smiling girl—she was strong, lively, and cheerful, intent on catching up with her sister to prove herself. For this, Lily didn't hesitate to join the elite military academy, choosing a mecha specialization, and continued to break through herself in this field.

She finally grasped X Ability, recognized in the school as a young genius with more potential than Reiko. Nonetheless, Lily didn't boast; instead, she delved earnestly into special abilities, dreaming of helping each other with her sister on the future battlefield.

Yes, she chased after her sister yet never saw herself as the protagonist but always revolved around Reiko, even thinking of coordinating with her sister on the battlefield.

Despite being a little bold and proud, Feng Yi could see she valued face greatly, unwilling to show her feelings outward, while her inner world was strangely sensitive.

She yearned for pure love, yet never had a boyfriend; she aspired for honor, more so for recognition from everyone and her sister. Sadly, life ultimately stopped at twenty-four.
