Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 224 Qin Erlong: No One Understands Su Ping Better Than Me

In a massive, isolated laboratory of the Breeder Association.

Three figures were nodding occasionally as they observed the two enormous creatures before them. The trio was none other than Liu Fuhai, Qin Erlong, and Master Zhu Hong, who stood in the center. Their gazes were firmly fixed on what was before them.

At this moment, if ordinary people from the outside world were to see the two figures that appeared before them, they would likely exclaim in shock. They were two genuine behemoths.

With antlers like a deer, a head like a camel, eyes like a rabbit, a neck like a snake, a belly like a mirage, scales like a fish, claws like an eagle, paws like a tiger, and ears like an ox! These two were indeed True Dragons of the Eastern Divine Dragon Clan! However, the two displayed wide variations and distinctions.

One of them was greenish-yellow, its entire body having the texture of a tree trunk. Leaves dotted its skin, giving it an incredibly fresh and vibrant appearance. On its massive dragon head, the whiskers seemed to extend like branches, and the scales along its body closely resembled those of a True Dragon carved from wood.

Mu Long!

Moreover, it was a Mu Long of the Divine Dragon Clan. This Attribute was incredibly rare among the Dragon Clan.

Indeed, even for someone like Qin Erlong, who as the president of a provincial Breeder Association, held a significant post akin to a high official within the entire Dragon Nation, it wasn't easy to obtain a Dragon Pet of such caliber. This creature was the reward bestowed by the upper echelons of the Dragon Nation upon Sang Sheng for his ascension to the Spirit Saint Level, just as Sang Sheng and Master Zhu Hong had discussed previously. However, Sang Sheng chose not to form a contract with this Mu Long as his Pet Beast. Instead, he gifted it to his husband, who happened to need a Pet Beast contract at that time. This allowed President Qin to become a Dragon Tamer. Concurrently, this was the primary reason Master Zhu Hong sought out Qin Erlong.

At this moment, another Divine Dragon of the Eastern Dragon Clan hovered in the air opposite the Mu Long. But unlike the Mu Long, which looked lifelike, almost as if it were carved from wood, this Divine Dragon was brownish-yellow, and its scales were as hard as marble. The claws and the muscular lines of its body were distinctly rugged. Overall, it possessed a rougher, less delicate style compared to the Mu Long.

Earth Dragon. Or perhaps, Yellow Dragon.

This creature was also not something just anybody could easily acquire. As Master Zhu Hong was a Breeding Master recognized by the Breeder Association and had made significant contributions to the Dragon Nation, it was only reasonable for him to possess such a Pet Beast.

"Brother Qin, your Mu Long is truly exceptional. It is truly worthy of being a member of the Dragon Clan whose Racial Potential starts at the Spirit Saint Level!" Master Zhu Hong couldn't help but express his admiration as he looked at the two massive dragons.

"Haha, starting with Spirit Saint Level Racial Potential means missing an opportunity for Evolution from the Emperor Level. For a Top-level Breeder like you, Master Zhu Hong, such an Evolution is precisely the key to a Pet Beast's power soaring. Under such circumstances, even if my Big Tree reaches the Spirit Saint Level in the future, its strength probably won't compare to your Earth Dragon, Master Zhu Hong!" Qin Erlong spoke modestly, but from a certain perspective, it was indeed the truth.

For Breeders like Master Zhu Hong, the process of Evolution is a rare opportunity for strength enhancement. Even upon reaching a threshold like the Emperor Level or Spirit Saint Level, and possessing adequate Racial Potential, an ascent to the Spirit Saint Level is not guaranteed. This also depends on the individual Talent and aptitude of the Pet Beast.

"So, I must thank you for your help, Brother Qin, for allowing a drop of Essence Blood from this Mu Long every week. Rest assured, I, Zhu Hong, will certainly do my best to compensate!" Zhu Hong said with a smile.

Dragon Blood is an exceedingly precious substance. To help evolve Master Zhu Hong's Earth Dragon, providing a drop of Essence Blood weekly would take a considerable toll on the Mu Long. Needless to say, under such conditions of losing Essence Blood, it would be impossible for it to increase its strength.

President Qin laughed, "It's just a few drops of blood, no big deal. Master Zhu Hong, there's no need to be so formal."

"Roar..."

Clearly, his master's generosity greatly displeased the Mu Long named Big Tree, and it growled at President Qin:

Dammit! Since it's not your old blood being used, of course you'd say it's no big deal!

Qin Erlong's face flushed slightly, obviously a bit embarrassed by his Pet Beast's lack of decorum. Master Zhu Hong, on the other hand, didn't take much notice and laughed it off.

The conversation soon shifted, and Qin Erlong changed the topic, saying, "Speaking of which, Su Ping securing first place in the recent Breeder Contest was also thanks to your guidance, Master Zhu Hong."

At this, Master Zhu Hong quickly waved his hand, "You flatter me, President Qin. Su Ping and the Wanmu Wolf, along with the Heart of the Sun, truly deserve first place!"

"Oh? Is the Heart of the Sun really that remarkable?"

Liu Fuhai glanced at the old man. This old geezer, always pretending to be ignorant. He'd witnessed the effect of the Heart of the Sun firsthand during their time in the Secret Realm, and here he was, still feigning ignorance.

Master Zhu Hong, unaware of Liu Fuhai's thoughts, nodded in agreement. "Indeed, it is quite extraordinary. It can gather the Power of the Sun to detonate instantly. The supply of such Energy is unparalleled, and the Energy recovery and other effects of the Heart of the Sun are also quite exceptional…" The words Master Zhu Hong used were already considerable praise coming from him.

Yet afterward, he even added, "This Super-Rank Skill has the potential to be inducted into the Skills Hall! Of course, that's merely potential for now. It will require further observation and comparison over time."

Hmm?!

Upon hearing this, not just Qin Erlong but also Liu Fuhai involuntarily turned to look at him.

Hall Skill!?

In the domain of Breeders on Blue Star, this is a supreme achievement. Only a select few extremely potent Super-Rank Skills have the chance to be recognized by World Breeders and earn a place in that Domain. Within this Domain of the Skills Hall, only Skills that have left behind legendary deeds in history and are revered by countless Breeders have been recorded. Overall, it is said that fewer than a hundred such Skills exist within this Domain.

That seems like quite a few. However, this is measured against the standard of Blue Star. Across the entirety of Blue Star, how many types of Pet Beasts are there? How many different kinds of unique Skills? They are innumerable! One can only imagine what it signifies for only about a hundred of them to be included! This represents the highest honor for a Skill.

Does this Heart of the Sun truly have a chance to enter the Skills Hall and have its name recorded? Although it was just a chance, even Liu Fuhai found it incredible when he first heard of it.

In fact, Zhu Hong wasn't joking with them because after the competition ended, he had called Sang Sheng again specifically to discuss this Skill. Upon hearing how Old Sha had nearly destroyed the entire Linhai Secret Realm, and about the seemingly inexhaustible supply of Energy under direct sunlight, even Master Zhu Hong had been left speechless for a considerable time.

At this moment, even Liu Fuhai couldn't help but remark, "Setting aside the Ability, this kid's luck is truly exceptional!"

Indeed, the emergence and Cultivation of such Skills are not solely a matter of one's own Ability; luck plays a significant role too!

Zhu Hong also nodded in agreement. "It's just a pity that such luck is exceedingly rare. Moreover, to seize such an opportunity and successfully bring it to fruition is even more challenging! Su Ping was fortunate to possess the capability, but encountering such a chance again will not be easy."

Qin Erlong, however, didn't quite agree with such sentiments. Perhaps it was because his understanding of the professional domain of Skill Cultivation wasn't as profound as that of the other two. Or perhaps, it was because over the past six months or so, Qin Erlong had witnessed Su Ping effortlessly achieve too many feats that other Breeders had dismissed as improbable. This had instilled in him an almost mystical confidence in Su Ping. For instance, there was the initial disbelief from Old Liu and Sun Chaoju regarding the Heart of Woods. Then came the perfection of the Wanmu Wolf, which Old Liu had also doubted. The subsequent Super-Rank Skills all followed a similar pattern of defying expectations. So, it wasn't out of the realm of possibility for Su Ping to make similar research breakthroughs in the future, was it?

Therefore, he chose to speak up for the young fellow, "Not necessarily, right? It doesn't seem like this young fellow has struggled much from start to finish. I'm still very optimistic about him."

Liu Fuhai and Zhu Hong glanced at the old man and ignored him. What does he know?

However, just then, a phone call came through, interrupting their idle chatter. Liu Fuhai picked up the phone with a slight smile. "See? You can't just go around talking about people behind their backs. The man himself has called, hasn't he!"

The other two were also momentarily stunned and turned their gazes towards Liu Fuhai's phone. Thereupon, Old Liu answered the call and immediately turned on the speakerphone. "Hello, Xiao Ping?"

"Old Liu, where are you?" Su Ping's cheerful and excited voice came from the other end of the phone.

"Haha, where else would I be? I'm at the Association. What's up? Is there something you need?"

"Other matters are trivial. I've recently identified some research directions and need some assistance..." Su Ping's voice came through.

Liu Fuhai promptly laughed, "What's this about? Just tell me how many people you need. Those youngsters in Linzhou are all itching to go to your place and assist, hoping to witness the Wanmu Wolf's Super-Rank Skill Cultivation!"

"Hmm... I don't need ordinary Breeders. I was wondering, Old Liu, do you have some free time recently? Could you come and help me? I don't quite trust this to just anyone."

Hmm? Asking for his help?

Although it was nearing the end of the year and he was soon to be promoted to President—which meant he wasn't as busy as before—surely he wasn't needed for minor matters, right? Suddenly, Liu Fuhai seemed to realize something…

"What is it? Don't tell me it's about the Icefang Whitewolf?!!"

At the other end of the phone, hearing this name made Su Ping scratch his head in embarrassment. If Old Liu hadn't brought it up, Su Ping would have almost forgotten about that matter entirely. But at this moment, he could only tell the truth, "That's not it, but it is indeed related to a new Super-Rank Skill."

"A new Super-Rank Skill?" This time, even Master Zhu Hong, who was beside them, perked up and instinctively inquired.

"Ah, Master Zhu Hong is there too."

However, at this moment, no one paid any attention to Su Ping's greeting, as Liu Fuhai had already impatiently pressed on, "What Super-Rank Skill? On which Pet Beast was it cultivated? What are its effects, roughly? And how does it compare to the Heart of the Sun?"

With a barrage of questions, Su Ping began to answer each. "It's a Super-Rank Skill related to Five Elements Elemental Energy! It's on the Evolutionary Body of the regular Paperman I researched previously! As for its effects, it's hard to say precisely. However, when compared to the Heart of the Sun, its foundational effects, at least from what I can tell for now, might be even more magical and interesting."

Liu Fuhai was dumbfounded.

Master Zhu Hong was equally perplexed.

The two remained bewildered, apparently unable to fully process the immense implications of Su Ping's words.

Only Qin Erlong, standing to the side, spread his hands wide. 'What did I say? Exactly! No one understands this kid better than I do.'
