"Sha Jia, you go and try!"
With a thought, Wang Xiu released a Golden Puppet holding a huge Bone Rod. It leaped from the mountaintop and strode swiftly toward a lone Void Beast.
The Void Beast saw Sha Jia's sudden appearance. A fierce light gleamed in its eyes as it charged forward, slapping a claw onto the puppet.
CLANG!
A loud crash echoed.
Sha Jia stood motionless, a faint glow shimmering on its body like an iron rampart.
The attacking Void Beast, by contrast, was knocked back several steps. It lifted its claw to look and saw that the crystalline structures forming it had cracked and shattered from the impact.
A humanlike expression of terror appeared in its eyes.
What is this thing? Its body is even tougher than mine?
In disbelief, it charged again. This time it opened its mouth wide, revealing ferocious fangs, intending to crush the entity to bits.
Sha Jia raised its Bone Rod and swung it in a full circle. It shattered the Void Beast's hardest fangs and plunged straight into the creature's throat. Then, with a burst of immense strength, it began to churn the rod around inside the beast's mouth.
Countless hardened crystals were smashed to pieces, becoming debris that splattered from the corners of the Void Beast's mouth.
"AARGH—"
The Void Beast shrieked in pain. Having never suffered such a humiliation, it cried out for its kin. Instantly, more than ten other Void Beasts swarmed forward, completely burying Sha Jia beneath them.
These Void Beasts were massive and terrifyingly heavy, each one larger than a mountain.
Sha Jia was pinned underneath, unable to free itself.
Wang Xiu, however, wasn't panicked. He could feel that Sha Jia was still in perfect condition. The Ancient Dragon Bone was incredibly durable. Even with their combined assault, the Void Beasts could hardly cause it any harm.
Wang Xiu quickly assessed the situation. His eyes began to shine with a faint, clear light as he activated the Supreme Sensing Chapter to observe the Void Beasts' structure.
Their bodies were formed from mottled streams of energy, densely interwoven and seemingly chaotic, yet they all converged to a single point.
These monsters seem invincible, but they all have a critical weakness. If I can destroy it, I can sever the connection between the Void Crystal Core and its shell...
Wang Xiu mused, raising his hand to summon the Mingxue Executioner Sword. "Go!"
CHING!
The sword's hum resounded. The blood-red sword light illuminated the wasteland as a deafening pig's squeal faintly echoed through the heavens and the earth.
The Mingxue Executioner Sword transformed into a streak of red light, shooting out and precisely striking one of the Void Beasts. It pierced right through its body.
CRACK!
In an instant, an intense light flared from the Void Beast before it exploded into a shower of stony debris.
It worked!
Wang Xiu flicked his fingers to form a hand seal, and the Mingxue Executioner Sword swept back to circle around him, spinning continuously.
He then released eighteen Heaven Firmament Guards.
"Line up! Ready spears!"
The Heaven Firmament Guards formed a neat line, then crouched, shouldering their Golden Dragon Spears and taking aim.
"Fire!"
At Wang Xiu's command, more than a dozen beams of crimson-gold light erupted simultaneously, transforming into raging flames that swept through the void, incinerating everything. The flames whirled across the sky before condensing, shrinking into thumb-sized streams of draconic fire that shot straight toward their targets.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The Fire Dragons accurately struck their weak spots, pierced their defenses, and burrowed into the Void Beasts' bodies, triggering massive explosions.
Runes filled the air, bathing the area in a blinding, intense light that pulsed with a destructive aura.
All the Void Beasts were annihilated.
Pleased, Wang Xiu clapped his hands. While crafting those Golden Dragon Spears, he had etched many Formations on them that could condense some of the power of the Fire of Candleholder. In addition, the residual spirits of the Ancient Dragons still lingering in the bones could multiply their power. This first trial proved their overwhelming strength.
He walked into the center of the battlefield.
Sha Jia had already dusted itself off and stood up, falling in line behind him completely unharmed.
Thirteen crystals floated quietly in mid-air. They were crystal-clear, radiating a flowing light and dazzling with glowing runes, like magnificent gems. As they slowly rotated, even the surrounding space was distorted, creating an illusion of a distortion of space and time.
Thirteen priceless Void Crystal Cores were pocketed by Wang Xiu.
He then continued on his way.
Along his journey, Wang Xiu encountered many other people—the prodigies from the various Great Immortal Sects.
Some were alone, fleeing for their lives from pursuing Void Beasts.
Others were lucky enough to find their fellow sect members and band together. In groups of a dozen or more, they ganged up on a single Void Beast. Although they had the advantage, it still took them time to win, as the creature was incredibly resilient.
But no matter what, as long as they could kill a Void Beast and obtain its Crystal Core, the reward was incredibly rich, even when split among a dozen people.
However, there were less fortunate groups who, despite finding allies, ended up attracting even more Void Beasts during a fight. The tables turned in an instant, and they found themselves hunted and scattered once again.
Having observed one battle after another, Wang Xiu summarized his experience. Fights here must be quick and decisive. A dozen people aren't enough; moving in groups of hundreds is the safest approach.
Most Void Beasts had low intelligence and lacked any real capacity for thought. They were more like wild beasts, possessing only a faint flicker of sentience. Their actions were driven almost entirely by instinct.
If the prodigies from the Great Immortal Sects could gather together, use focused fire to kill a Void Beast instantly, and then immediately withdraw, repeating the process, this world would be an undeniable treasure trove.
The higher their efficiency, the greater their rewards.
Conversely, without sufficient numbers, this place was treacherous. Any action would be exceedingly difficult. One would need to move like a mouse, constantly hiding and seeking cover.
