The Void Lizard Dragon was killed by Wang Xiu with three punches. Its corpse disintegrated, exploding into a sky full of Crystal Shards.
The Crystal Shards rained down, and amidst them, a hazy radiance floated tranquilly, shimmering with a peculiar energy.
Wang Xiu reached out, delving into the sphere of light to grasp the object within.
It was a broken sword. Half the blade was missing, and its ancient design was engraved with runes from a bygone era. Though clearly decayed, it still retained an incredibly terrifying killing intent.
Having lost its host, the Void Lizard Dragon, the sword's murderous aura had nowhere to hide. It surged forth, transforming into a vast ocean of killing intent. Within this ocean, one could faintly discern the spectral forms of ancient warriors locked in battle. The roars of combat shook the heavens, like the stampede of a thousand armies.
This is an Asura Sword. Countless souls have met a tragic end by its blade. Even ancient Earth Immortals have bled upon it. Its master must have once been glorious beyond measure!
Wang Xiu gripped the hilt, feeling waves of Sword Intent pulsing from within. The power of this sword at its peak is impossible to fathom. After countless eons, the blade has decayed and most of its runes have been worn away, yet its might remains immeasurable!
The Magical Treasure Wang Xiu currently relied on most was still the Mingxue Executioner Sword. After devouring a large number of Pig Spirits and the Essence Blood of many Fierce Beasts in the Ancient Forest, it had gradually recovered to a level comparable to a Superior Spirit Instrument.
But this broken sword was different from the Mingxue Executioner Sword. The Mingxue Executioner Sword had been refined by the powerhouses of Jiuli Cave Heaven, cleansing it of its demonic nature. Although it still fed on the Essence Blood of living creatures, its Sword Intent was pure, triumphing through sheer sharpness.
The sword in Wang Xiu's hand, however, contained a terrifying killing intent inherited from ancient battlefields. It was born for slaughter. From a certain perspective, its destructive power even surpassed that of the Mingxue Executioner Sword.
Of course, the Mingxue Executioner Sword had its own potential. If Wang Xiu found an opportunity for it to devour enough Essence Blood, it could one day return to its peak and become a Holy Artifact. The broken sword, on the other hand, was an ancient relic. Its forging method and the runes on its blade were vastly different from those of the current era, making it incredibly difficult to repair.
But this didn't change the fact that it was still a tremendously formidable weapon!
...
Even if this sword can never be repaired, it's not a big deal. In this world of the Void Ancient Path, there must be more treasures like this! The Void Crystal Cores are precious, but they aren't what I should be pursuing. These Void Beasts with hidden treasures inside them are the most suitable prey!
Wang Xiu's eyes gleamed. He put away the broken sword, found a secluded spot to refine it, and imprinted it with his own spiritual brand. Then, he stepped onto his sword and flew off.
He had gotten a taste of the rewards and now had a clear target: to find more Void Ancient Beasts with hidden treasures.
But he soon realized this method wasn't viable. The ancient realm was simply too vast, and Void Ancient Beasts containing hidden treasures were extremely rare. He had only encountered one so far. Searching this way would take forever.
An idea struck him.
He found a Void Silver Fox nearby, slapped it to the ground, and set up a Formation around it. He then had his eight Earth Fiend Guards pin it down. It struggled violently on the ground but could not break free.
"Hurry up and call them! Shout louder! Call all of your companions here!" Wang Xiu threatened, pressing the broken sword against the Void Silver Fox's body.
The Void Silver Fox couldn't understand human speech, nor did it grasp Wang Xiu's meaning.
But instinct drove it to shriek, its cries growing louder and louder.
Especially when Wang Xiu dragged the broken sword across its vitals. The fox shrieked even louder; if it could cry, it would have been bawling its eyes out. It could feel that despite its formidable physique, it was no different than paper before that sword. A single poke would tear it to shreds!
Wang Xiu was quite pleased with the Void Silver Fox's cooperation.
Sure enough, it wasn't long before a large number of Void Beasts—more than twenty of them—surged in from all directions, their ferocious might shaking the heavens.
They glared at Wang Xiu with extreme ferocity, their eyes seeming to say, Release our kin, or you'll regret it!
Wang Xiu remained perfectly calm and snapped his fingers. From behind the Void Beasts, a host of golden figures sprang from their ambush. Wielding large clubs, they wordlessly began hammering the creatures.
They pummeled the Void Beasts so hard that lumps swelled on their heads, sending them into a chaotic frenzy of shrieks.
The creatures tried to flee, but they were already trapped inside Wang Xiu's Formation. They charged about blindly, only to be thrown back each time.
"Beat them relentlessly!" Wang Xiu commanded.
None of these Void Beasts held treasures within them, so they weren't his targets.
The commotion in the area grew louder and louder. Dozens of Void Beasts howled and fled in every direction. The earth trembled and dust filled the air, as if a great army were on the move.
「From afar.」
A group of Cultivators paused, their faces pale as they listened to the racket. "What's happening?"
"It's over! We took a wrong turn and stumbled right into a Void Beast lair!"
"Let's get out of here! Fast!"
"We're doomed! Who was leading the way?"
"This is terrifying!"
A prodigy acting as the group's scout flew back, his expression exaggerated. "I took a glance from a distance! There's a young man in white surrounded by dozens of Void Beasts! It's a horrible scene, he has nowhere to run, no escape to the heavens or to the earth!"
Pity showed on the faces of the group. "I wonder which family that poor young man belongs to. So unlucky."
The prodigy shook his head. "I don't know. The scene is too chaotic to see clearly. He looks quite refined, but so frail and weak amidst the beasts. He must be paralyzed with fear, he isn't even trying to run! Ai... I'm afraid he's going to be trampled to death by those Void Beasts."
"Shouldn't we... help him?" a beautiful female Cultivator asked, unable to bear the sight.
