Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 234: Tomb of the Warrior

With Gu Xi's command, all the Skeleton Gunners charged forward swiftly, while the Skeleton Shooters and Skeleton Mages retreated into the city gate as fast as possible.

Gu Xi also took a step back, landing easily on the Evil Coffin still floating on the water's surface.

The Evil Coffin had long received Gu Xi's command, and as Gu Xi landed, it began to dive underwater.

However, the Evil Coffin dived a bit too quickly, and Gu Xi didn't have time to grip the iron chain on the coffin tightly.

He was dragged into the water by the Evil Coffin.

Fortunately, Gu Xi reacted quickly enough and, realizing something was wrong, swam a few steps towards the coffin to catch the chain at the coffin's tail, preventing himself from being flung too far away.

At this moment, the Evil Coffin sank like a weight into the water, dragging Gu Xi quickly underwater as well.

As he was being dragged down, Gu Xi saw Luna leading the Ghosts along with him, charging downward.

Then there was a loud bang.

The Apple Tree root of Spore Cultist Charlie triggered many of the Flame Traps set by Gu Xi, and the cumulative power of multiple traps severed this section of the Apple Tree root on the spot.

Even while sinking, Gu Xi heard a newly popped-up message.

[You have severed one of the nine primary roots of Spore Cultist Charlie, reducing Spore Cultist Charlie's maximum Life by 10%.]

[Your action has angered Spore Cultist Charlie, increasing the dungeon mutation level by 3%.]

[Spore Cultist Charlie is affected, retreats to his original position, and does not pursue into the Underground Tomb.]

[Please note, the gap in the Underground Tomb is widening, please pay attention…]

Gu Xi hadn't thought through what to be aware of when he felt that something was off with the water currents around him.

The once calm pool water seemed to be stimulated by something, raising giant waves that even Gu Xi, submerged, felt the impact, as the Evil Coffin was propelled by the current, rolling non-stop.

Grasping the back of the Evil Coffin, Gu Xi was being flung around like being inside a washing machine.

Finally, when the water current settled, Gu Xi heard another message by his ear.

[You have discovered the Tomb of the Warrior, do you wish to enter?]

Gu Xi was bewildered. He widened his eyes and realized that he had arrived at the center of the Underground Tomb.

Near a giant stone coffin embedded underground, there were many normally-sized stone coffins stacked around.

Compared to the stone coffin embedded underground, these normally-sized stone coffins looked like cruisers beside an aircraft carrier, with a vast size difference.

However, these smaller stone coffins were much more ornate, each adorned with reclining knights, hands either holding a longsword or raising a horn.

Though the rushing current had disrupted it, signs left at the scene indicated that they existed to protect the giant stone coffin.

The giant stone coffin itself lacked excessive decoration, with only a griffin skull embedded on the lid.

Upon seeing the situation in front of him, Gu Xi knew what was going on.

He had probably reached the heart of the Underground Tomb.

In front of the coffin of the Flower of the North.

The prompt he just received was a reminder from the stone coffins around.

It seemed that approaching the coffin of the Flower of the North required a battle.

"Enter!"

Being in the water, Gu Xi couldn't speak, so he only thought it in his mind.

In the next instant, the water around Gu Xi pushed aside, creating an open space the size of two football fields.

Gu Xi didn't have time to react and was directly slammed to the ground, nearly killing him with the impact.

The Evil Coffin also crashed to the ground.

Before hitting the ground, the Evil Coffin took a turn, shifting slightly aside; otherwise, it would have crushed Gu Xi into pulp.

Supporting himself on the Cold Wind Staff, Gu Xi stood up and looked around, noticing that the distant water had formed a curtain, kept out of this open space.

Not far from him was the Stone Coffin of the Flower of the North.

From what he saw in the water earlier, the Stone Coffin hadn't seemed problematic, but now he realized it was over ten meters high, nearly fifteen meters wide, and over sixty meters long.

Compared to it, other nearby stone coffins seemed minuscule and couldn't even compare.

Just as Gu Xi was marveling at the enormity of the Stone Coffin, he heard a series of cracking sounds nearby.

Turning towards the sound, Gu Xi saw that all the nearby small stone coffins were being pushed open, with Undead emerging from each.

These Undead had been slumbering with the Flower of the North.

Now, stirred by Gu Xi, they all awakened.

The Undead numbered at least 100, with the lowest strength being at level 7.

The most crucial point was that those chosen by the Flower of the North, to slumber with, were certainly not ordinary soldiers.

Most of these Undead were Boss and Warrior Level, with even a few Heroes and Elites among them.

As they emerged from their coffins, some drew weapons from the coffin lids while others raised horns to blow.

With the sound of the horn, batches of Undead emerged from the surroundings, with their numbers rising from 100 to 200, 300, 400…

Although the number of enemy Undead forces ultimately stopped at under 500, Gu Xi's expression became grim, for he could clearly discern the strength of the Undead the enemy commanded.

He tapped his Cold Wind Staff on the ground, and the city gate appeared behind him.

The newly completed battle banner fluttered over the city gate as Gu Xi's troops began to march out.

Zombies with Axes and Shields, Skeleton Gunners, Skeleton Shooters, Skeleton Mages, Ghosts…

Gu Xi's troops began forming ranks in front of the city gate.

While the Undead Soldiers were emerging, Gu Xi observed the surroundings as well.

He noticed that enemy undead seemed to lack unity in organization, now occupying different parts of the battleground separately.

The closest position to the Stone Coffin of the Flower of the North was held by 20 knights in black armor; whether they were Death Knights, Gu Xi was unsure, but they were undoubtedly skilled at charging.

Behind the city gate was a Ghost Hero leading nearly a hundred Ghosts.

Gu Xi could affirm he was a Hero because he had raised his own banner.

The area with the most numbers contained Skeleton Soldiers and Zombies, numbering approximately three hundred. Though their formation appeared disordered, Gu Xi could perceive a specific Hero commanding them.

What shocked Gu Xi the most was among these Undead—a group of about 30 Ghost Maids.

Gu Xi felt that they were the strongest presence among the Undead.

He had a feeling that these Ghost Maids were likely all Warriors.

After quickly assessing his own attributes and looking at the lined-up Undead Corps, Gu Xi decisively ordered.

"Skeleton Mage, Mana Extraction!"
