Arthur glanced at the Winter Beast, which lay partially submerged in the shallow water, its form showing visible cracks and fractures from the flamingo's devastating water sphere attack. Dark blue ichor seeped from several wounds where the legendary creature's assault had overwhelmed its natural defences.
Turning his attention back to the Tidal Flamingo to avoid any sneak attacks, Arthur reached into his spatial storage and withdrew several rare-ranked healing potions, their crimson contents glowing with restorative energy. Without hesitation, he hurled them through the air toward his injured summon.
'Take these,' Arthur commanded through their telepathic connection.
The Winter Beast, despite its wounds, managed to catch the flying potions with surprising dexterity. It immediately consumed the healing elixirs, and within moments, the visible cracks in its hide began to slowly seal themselves. The process would take time, but the potions would restore enough of its combat effectiveness to rejoin the battle and deal serious damage to the tidal flamingo when chance allowed.
The Tidal Flamingo watched everything unfold with cold, calculating eyes, its twin heads swivelling between Arthur's aerial position and the healing Winter Beast. The legendary creature no longer showed any signs of the predatory arrogance it had displayed earlier—it had gained a healthy respect for its opponents after witnessing their capabilities.
To command a domain-wielding beast and a dragon capable of dealing significant damage without even possessing a domain was certainly terrifying. This human represented a level of threat the flamingo had rarely encountered in its long existence.
The creature decided to take the initiative before its enemies could fully coordinate their next assault.
Splash!
The flamingo's twin heads began weaving complex patterns, and immediately the water around Arthur's aerial position began to respond. Massive tendrils of liquid shot upward like enormous whips, each one capable of crushing bone and pulverizing armor with their legendary-rank force.
Whoosh!
"Dodge left!" Arthur commanded, and Aetherion immediately banked hard to avoid a water tendril that passed mere inches from his wing. The void dragon's spatial manipulation allowed for impossibly tight turns and sudden directional changes that defied normal physics.
Splash! Splash! Splash!
More aquatic projectiles followed—spheres of compressed water that exploded on contact, razor-sharp streams that could cut through the hardest of metals, and grasping tentacles that tried to ensnare the aerial duo. The Tidal Flamingo's water manipulation was relentless, turning the peaceful domain into a battlefield filled with water death.
Arthur wasn't content to simply evade the attacks that the flamingo was sending their way. While Aetherion teleported them around the domain with spatial precision, Arthur activated his legendary Orbit skill, channelling gravitational forces to weaponise his equipment.
Whirr!
Several very-rare ranked swords began orbiting around Arthur's position, their paths controlled by gravitational manipulation that made them move in complex helical patterns. With focused concentration, he launched them toward the Tidal Flamingo like guided missiles.
Clang! Splash!
The first sword struck the creature's hide, drawing a thin line of blood before bouncing off its reinforced feathers. The flamingo countered by creating a water barrier that absorbed the remaining projectiles, but Arthur immediately recalled the weapons and sent them in again from different angles.
Whoosh! Splash! Whirr!
The battle developed into a deadly dance of evasion and counter-attack. Aetherion teleported them across the domain with lightning speed—whoosh—appearing behind the flamingo, above it, to its sides, never remaining in one position long enough for the creature's water attacks to find their mark.
Splash! Splash!
Meanwhile, Arthur's orbiting weapons continued their relentless assault, forcing the Tidal Flamingo to divide its attention between offense and defense. The very-rare ranked equipment was durable enough to withstand the creature's water barriers while sharp enough to inflict meaningful damage when they found gaps in its defenses.
Whirr! Clang!
After many exchanges, frustration began to show in the flamingo's movements. Its twin heads snapped at empty air as yet another teleportation carried Arthur and Aetherion away from its attacks. The legendary creature's four eyes blazed with increasing anger as it realized the fundamental problem with its current strategy.
Whoosh! Splash!
It was incredibly difficult to hit Arthur as he kept teleporting around the domain's vast expanse. The kilometer-wide battlefield that had seemed like an advantage was now working against the flamingo, providing too much space for its enemies to maneuver and escape.
Splash! Splash! Splash!
The creature's attacks became more frenzied, water erupting in all directions as it tried to saturate the entire area with devastating projectiles. But Aetherion's spatial manipulation was too precise, too fast—every assault met only empty air and disappointed water.
What was frustrating was the fact that the dragon was taunting him as he teleported. From time to time, he would teleport above its head, next to it and various other places whilst making silly faces.
The Tidal Flamingo's tactical mind reached an inevitable conclusion. If the current battlefield provided too much room for evasion, then the solution was obvious: reduce the available space the dragon could teleport to.
Splash!
The legendary creature's twin heads rose high above its body, and suddenly, the domain began to shift significantly. The endless horizon started moving inward as the flamingo used its mastery over the aquatic environment to compress the battlefield itself.
Whoosh! Splash!
Water levels rose as the domain's edges contracted, forcing Arthur and Aetherion into an increasingly smaller area of operation. What had been a kilometre of manoeuvring space was steadily shrinking, compressing into a more manageable hunting ground where the flamingo's attacks would have a much higher probability of success.
"Clever bird," Arthur muttered with grudging respect as he watched the walls of water closing in around them. "It's turning our mobility advantage into a liability. This will reduce the space we have to teleport to, Aether."
Aether nodded, listening to his master's words. "Oh...he just ruined the fun. What's the fun in such a small space?"
Splash! Splash!
The Tidal Flamingo's eyes gleamed with satisfaction as its domain continued contracting. Soon, its enemies would have nowhere left to run, and then the real hunt could begin in earnest.
