Duncan seemed to have figured something out.
When agriculture ascends, farming technology develops. When war ascends, military technology climbs. When commerce ascends, trade in the Mediterranean flourishes.
People in the Middle Ages valued faith greatly. Under the guidance of faith, the direction of society's operation had a prominent focus.
That's why the Germanic people were constantly at war because only dying heroically in battle allowed them to enter the Heroic Spirit Hall. Without wars to fight, they resorted to raiding, neglecting the development of civilization, eventually making piracy a culture.
"I think I know how to guide the direction of world civilization before the technological explosion ushers in the modern era."
Duncan fell into contemplation, seemingly foreseeing events a thousand years into the future.
If possible,
he wanted to see humanity a millennium later embark on the journey to the stars and the sea, of course, he didn't wish to sit on the Golden Throne.
The final gain was a progress bar alongside the Legendary Level on the projection page.
——"Divinity: Immortal."
This progress bar was roughly one-third full, with no clear numerical display, unlike the Legendary Level, which could be used as currency.
——"Immortal: The first Human Form has seized part of the power of divinity, allowing him to transcend worldly laws."
[During Heroic Spirit Summoning, the Immortal can act freely and even ignore the summoner's orders.]
[Anchored by the Divine Origin, you can attempt to dominate the summoner instead.]
[Standard summoning spells, restrictions, and oaths are ineffective on you; you can freely choose whether to respond to a summons. Unless it's an exceptionally powerful entity, no spell can control your will. Your racial positioning is half-human, half-god.]
[You can contract other Heroic Spirit units, converting them into Subordinate Heroic Spirits. They too cannot be summoned by conventional means. You can transform yourself into a summoner rather than the summoned.]
[The Immortal enters the river of history; even if legends fade, you will not disappear, only weaken.]
[In certain worlds, the Immortal possesses an undying soul trait. If the body dies, you can attempt possession to resurrect by taking over the physical form and soul of another creature.]
[The Immortal can freely travel as Spirit Body to different otherworldly realms such as the Divine Country, Holy Sanctuary, and the Land of the Otherworld.]
[Divinity cannot be transferred, anchored to the first Human Form.]
It's terrifying.
Divinity seems not to be like Legendary Level currency; it is solidified on the first Human Form.
When Duncan moved his thoughts slightly, wondering if engraving was possible, a line of prompts appeared.
——"The Transdimensional does not need divinity and cannot engrave divinity.
In dimensions beyond reality, the Transdimensional's divinity is automatically anchored as 'Sub-Creator' (Quasi-God, Quasi-Divine Supreme), unaffected by any concepts like divinity, divine power, or divine positions, nor can it deprive other divine spirits of their divine law positions, knocking them off their divine thrones.
No one can strip the power, laws, concepts, or abilities engraved by the Transdimensional."
Duncan stared at the prompt in silence for a long time.
Finally, he couldn't help but mutter, "Where exactly has my main consciousness traversed to? Is it really a higher-dimensional being?"
On this very day,
all the statues, temples, sacred stones, and other things related to Goibniu, the God of Forging, across Scotland and Ireland suddenly cracked with tiny traces. The Druids and priests serving Goibniu seemingly lost something in the unseen, breaking a connection with a will.
The legendary Black Sword Warriors, in a moment of disorientation, suddenly found that the black swords in their hands seemed to have lost some mysterious power. They could no longer help them hit the enemy's vital points, turning into ordinary sharp longswords instead.
In the most distant Land of the Otherworld,
in a sacred pool of water, the figure of Goibniu was resurrected. He looked extremely weak, with a slightly dazed expression, as if he had just awakened from an extremely long dream and had not yet figured out where he was.
His main form transformed into a middle-aged man with a rough face but determined look, with the crimson patterns on his skin completely vanished.
The divine power acquired from blood sacrifices and human sacrifices was scattered; now, he was just an ordinary member of the Danu deity clan.
"Goibniu."
"You are back too? My brother."
In the distance, two human-shaped outlines materialized; they were his brothers, having fallen earlier. The three divine craftsmen were one body, able to merge, being the triple-aspect in one.
Gwanu slowly rose, also in a hazy humanoid outline, and said calmly, "Still call me Gwanu."
"It's been a few hundred years; I've gotten used to this name."
The two figures nodded; one said, "The Great Mother Goddess has discovered a new realm, a world beyond this Otherworld. It seems to belong outside reality."
"She is selecting Danu's children to enter it, participating in the myth of creation. Are you interested?"
Gwanu looked puzzled, tiredly saying, "I am too exhausted and weak. I may need to rest for a very long time."
The Danu deity clan descended into the mist of Ireland. Now, as times change, they've gradually exited the stage. Gwanu, utterly weary, decided not to leave this Otherworld temporarily. As for the newly discovered realms, he's completed his task, and the Mother's decree can be entrusted to other sons of Danu.
These memories from thousands of years continuously echoed, from the Mythical Era right through to the Middle Ages, and now, he just wanted to sleep well.
The long years of blood and human sacrifices had left him somewhat lost.
Divine Spirits are equally affected by reality. Gwanu's rites filled with bloodlust made him appear frenzied and bloodthirsty in reality. Similarly, if Aphrodite's rituals were filled with seduction and debauchery, this goddess's aspect would be wanton and unrestrained, even with sexuality as the main divine position.
But the core of a Divine Spirit remains fairly stable unless the aspect becomes too overwhelming, capable of overshadowing the core.
Now with divine power dissipating in the real world, Gwanu has regained a thread of tranquility, resembling a precise craftsman, no longer the bloodthirsty, frenzied primordial divine spirit that battled Duncan.
The two figures regrettably said, "Alright."
"Then rest well. My brother."
At this moment, Gwanu slowly stepped out of the Holy Pool, looked at his palms as if recalling something, and sighed, "I've lost quite a bit of Divine Origin."
"I couldn't have imagined that world had such powerful mortals."
At least a thousand years of divinity went to waste.
If not for the foundations of ancient myths, his current state would be weaker than when he descended into Ireland from the fog.
The Danu deity clan descended into that real world, neither a loss nor a gain.
They essentially lost the struggle.
If able to withdraw intact, he at least could have brought back a thousand years worth of accumulated Divine Origin.
Now, this Divine Origin has been divided among the victors.
Working for a thousand years only to bring back little salary (Divine Origin), Gwanu felt exhausted and weary.
As the mist rose, Gwanu's figure slowly dissipated, entering a slumbering dream, with no knowledge of when he would wake next. He needed long recuperation to digest memories of thousands of years, emerging with a renewed state to enter realms beyond this Otherworld.
