Dimension Space.
Duncan began honing his ability to delegate consciousness, feeling somewhat like training an AI, only that this divine thought's main body was his own soul.
At present, the battle-delegated divine thought only has about half of his operating capability.
It's uncertain whether it can be improved later.
A day passed quickly.
After a day and night's recuperation, the Juvenile Dragon had almost fully recovered, with the only issue being wound healing without the regrowth of fallen dragon scales. It needed to consume minerals to gradually regenerate the scales, though the newly grown scales wouldn't be as sturdy as the original ones.
"Looks like we'll have to treasure the dragon scales in the future."
Duncan observed the Juvenile Dragon's hind limbs; the newly grown scales were a pale white, similar to those of a hatchling, slowly changing color over time to match the other scales.
If it suffers a severe injury and loses many scales, it would be like a fighting cock missing all its feathers.
"Begin marking nearby monster groups."
The Juvenile Dragon soared into the sky; it had almost grown to the size of an adolescent dragon by now, with such dragons reaching seven to eight meters in length and having a wingspan exceeding ten meters for larger individuals.
The wind howled.
As the Juvenile Dragon looked down, it could see the tents constructed by the Catman Tribe on the plain below the Dragon's Nest. The original settlement had been abandoned, and food was stored in an ice cellar beneath the Dragon's Nest. Initially, Duncan intended for the Catman Tribe to expand its territory, but now they had to limit their activities.
Under the Giant Dragon's orders, a group of Catman hunters piled fish into a bearskin sack weighing roughly half a ton, which was within the Giant Dragon's normal carrying capacity.
Before leaving, Duncan also discovered a rudimentary dragon statue next to the altar.
A Catman knelt before the dragon statue.
Worshiping the dragon?
Duncan noted it and quickly left.
—— Yeti Group (Giant Subspecies) (Three-star Whiteboard) [Mark].
The Juvenile Dragon headed north towards the ice cap, spotting small white dots amid snow-capped mountains, numbering about five or six. Upon noticing the dragon, they immediately hid in the snow caves.
These were a subspecies of giants in the Northern Land, rumored to have trace giant blood, possessing strong regeneration abilities but offering little benefit to the Juvenile Dragon.
Because the Juvenile Dragon was engraved with true giant power and had even stronger regeneration abilities.
—— Winter Wolf (Wolf King) (Magic Beast) (Three-star Silver-gray) [Mark].
—— Northern Wolf Pack (Beast) (Group-living) (Two-star Whiteboard) [Mark].
As it drew closer to the Ice Plains.
A massive Winter Wolf appeared, poised to howl at the sky to proclaim that this was the hunting ground of the Northern Wolf Pack.
The next second, it shivered, retracting its head, and the howl got stuck in its throat.
Awoof.
A well-regarded Winter Wolf in the Northern Land, at a Minor Lord Level among the beasts, emitted a sound reminiscent of a puppy's bark, then whimpered low, burying its head into the snow, while other Northern Wolves also began frantically digging holes.
The Winter Wolf fully retracted its head, while the Ice Plain Wolves and Northern Wolves each ducked their heads, concealing most of their bodies in snow and ice to hide, leaving only pairs of frightened eyes visible.
A dragon flew over their heads!
Better not mess with it.
Only when the Giant Dragon flew far away did the Winter Wolf cautiously emerge, shaking the snow from its white fur, and then it scurried away with the wolf pack.
Ever since a dragon was spotted near the River Valley, the Northern Wolf Pack started migrating towards the glaciers.
But why did the dragon travel so far?
Must the wolf pack migrate again?
The Winter Wolf, possessing near-human intelligence, stared at the retreating dragon, pondering something unknown.
Further north, food for the wolves would be scarce, and conflicts with the Polar Bear People would arise.
The survival law in the Northern Land is survival of the fittest. Since the dragon's appearance, the River Valley has been tacitly acknowledged as its territory, prompting not only the Northern Wolf Pack but even the Yeti Group to relocate several tens of kilometers. Only beasts with lower intelligence remained in place.
If not for the dragon's scent around, occasionally marking territory, the Ancient Catman Tribe wouldn't have survived the winter as easily.
The Winter Wolf had its sights set on the Catmen, as the wolf pack could hunt solitary Catman hunters.
But ever since the Dragon Descendant Catmen appeared, the wolves compliantly migrated away.
—— Northern Bear People (Two-star Silver-gray) [Mark].
—— Polar Bear People (Two-star Silver-gray) [Mark].
Duncan surveyed from the sky, spotting a crude Bear People primitive tribe. Initially, they had battled with the Catmen, but after defeat, they continued migrating north, eventually being annihilated and absorbed by the Polar Bear People, forming a slightly larger beast tribe.
Every part of the Northern Land has its races struggling, and failure usually leads to migration and extinction.
The ones who can't win, keep moving north.
This isn't limited to individual strength but the strength of entire tribes. Even powerful tribes like the Frost Giant Tribe were forced to migrate near the glaciers. Although the closer to the poles, the stronger the monsters, their tribe numbers sharply decline.
The Northern Glaciers no longer accommodate such large tribes for survival and reproduction.
—— Frost Giant Tribe (Three-star Silver-gray) [Mark].
Duncan quickly located the migrating Frost Giant Tribe. They had also settled at the glacier's edge, not venturing directly into the ice cap region.
