The Runic Alchemist

Chapter 880: Rush to Level 100 — Part 3

The entire 40 km dungeon floor of level 70 was empty. There were no drakes or menta-rays here.

The moment the four of them entered this level, they could sense it, clear as day. There was only one overwhelming mana signature near them. Only one monster in the whole 40 km area.

The obsidian surface plates were more cracked here. There was more red lava visible than black obsidian.

The Unfathomable rank monster was not visible. It was beneath the surface, completely submerged in the lake of lava.

"I believe it's time to call them?" Mindseer said.

The three of them nodded without any argument.

Damian opened a waygate connecting a level 40 floor of this dungeon. Sulthar and his three companions lived there, away from the pigmen residing on level 21. Damian opened another waygate beside the active one, this connecting to the Pigmen king, who wished to join them as well, along with their friend Heather.

For the two pigmen, this temperature on level 70 was unbearable, which was why Damian had handed them the runic armor specially made for them when they met them and passed by level 21. He had warned them to activate it before entering the waygate. Their suits were fully automated with switches and used his own liquid mana to work. Pigmen could not use the aura after all.

For the four legendary beasts, this temperature was still survivable. In fact, Sulthar and that lava golem should feel right at home. He had prepared things for them as well, but didn't feel the need to give them just yet.

Six figures stepped out of the dungeon, two pigmen transcedents and four legendary beasts. For T'korran (Magma Golem) and Droquar (Black Furred Gorilla), Damian had to keep the waygate's size big. Sulthar was in his humanoid form when he walked out.

The party of four was a party of ten now. Damian didn't want to hold their hands on every floor, which was why he told them to be ready; he would get them later.

"What level is this?" Droquar asked in his booming voice, the furry guy could feel the insane temperature despite his thick skin.

"70," Sam replied.

"A threat?" Sulthar questioned, it was in a curious tone instead of a serious one.

"You feel that?" Damian asked, amused. "That's the boss, we will fight that and several others like it before we reach the end."

Veltrax, the Ancient Fire Demon, swallowed hard. He wasn't alone. Even Lucian, Sam, and Mindseer were having doubts about achieving their goal today.

"I will bring him out of his hiding hole; you guys stay ready," Damian said before stepping forward.

"Is that all?" Sam asked in an exasperated voice, "We are about to fight an Unfathomable monster, and your whole plan is just one sentence long?"

Damian shrugged his shoulders, "Dying is fun, you guys should try it at least once."

Leaving people with open mouths behind him, Damian flew straight, his three sacrium cubes generating waves of golden mana in a ring around him. Covering himself in a thick coat of seven-element mana, Damian dived inside the lava underlake. Before his eyes, everything was bright red, orange, and yellow, but Damian could sense the monster as clear as day.

The shape the mana in his mind made was of a 3-kilometer-long crocodile. Hundreds of meters wide and leaking mana denser than the lava itself.

He could sense the thing coming towards him faster than it had any right to be. Damian waited for the perfect moment patiently, and when it came, he launched the gigantic replica spell. The golden figure made of mana grew wide and tall, breaking the obsidian layer and growing still.

Damian's both golden hands were over 700 hundred meters big. He was burning through the gathered liquid mana at a tremendously fast rate and could not keep this up for more than a few seconds. He did not need to.

As the giant replica of him grew out of the lava lake, everyone finally saw what was truly happening. His two golden hands were wrapped tight around a monstrous black scaled crocodile.

Damian pulled the whole gigantic bastard out of the lava and suplexed the guy on a surface made of kilometers of square air shield. Before the struggling massive tail could shatter the golden replica, Damian canceled the spell on his own and used wormholes to get away.

Just as he let go, a massive dragon had launched itself from high above as well. Attacking the belly of the crocodile with his fire breath. Moments later, a lightning bolt struck the boss as well, then a cold storm enveloped it entirely inside. Mindseer created several giant creatures surrounding it to mess with its head.

The titan gorilla, Droquar, started hacking away at the black scales with pieces of obsidian. T'korran and Veltrax followed their leader in launching powerful flames and lava onto the crocodile's grey belly.

Damian was about to launch his own hellfire when he noticed an enormous red and gold runic circle forming above the sprawled crocodile's roaring body. Without knowing what it really was, Damian used the Sigil Replication and copied it.

He shouted the warning, and everyone present moved away from the mega-monster. A few seconds later, the crocodile roared with anger. Damian felt it reverberate in his chest before a shockwave hit them in mid-air.

The massive runic circle disappeared without any effect, confusing Damian greatly till he heard Mindseer shouting, "UP!!"

Damian jerked his head up and blinked twice. There was a 20-kilometer-wide split in the sky, and bubbling mana was falling without any restraint.

'Which motherfucker discovered this shit!' Damian cursed.

Damian's three sacrium mana cubes had never stopped generating liquid mana. He was actively holding and repairing damage from the air shield wall upon which the behemoth was lying. But liquid mana was not being used at a hundred percent generation rate. It was piling up in the circular wave around him.

He created another air shield high above them before the violent space-time magma could reach them. As if the bastard had calculated it beforehand, the enormous titanic black-scaled crocodile started violently rolling on its side. Both, trying to break the invisible air wall and find its end.

Damian repaired every crack that happened instantaneously. Sulthar, in his dragon form, was trying to grab onto the bastard and use his massive claws. Lucian and others were trying their best to deal damage to the rolling disaster as well. But midway through, the monster started launching the same scorching flames with fragments of divinity in it.

While rolling, the crocodile let it go wild all around. The air shield wall beneath, the tiny people flying around, the shield wall blocking the lava rift opened above, nothing was spared from the scorching, disastrous flames.

It was a waste of mana.

Damian warned everyone to fly to the sides and opened wormholes for each of them. Only Sulthar and he remained behind as all present on the shield wall reached for the wormholes and moved away from the range of the crocodile's attacks and the falling lava above.

Sulthar was punching and scratching the guy, interrupting the monster's beam of fire from hitting any of their companions.

Damian unsheathed his sacrium sword while holding the air shields and used his aura to increase the sword's length. The aura inside him had almost tripled since that fight against the Sea Snake. It came more naturally to him now, and he could even shape it into more complex forms and faster than before at that.

The lord of hellhound's words about holding back his inner demon should be somewhat true.

The black aura-clad, meters-long sword was the target of Damian's full-power god-killer spell that he had learned from the giant sword in the desert. He pushed all the liquid mana that was circling him in this one single attack, leaving only a little behind.

It took seconds to activate, but when it did, both Sulthar and the unfathomable crocodile paused their tussling for a second. Then the crocodile lost all senses and started struggling like a trapped fish out of water. Sulthar also took damage after damage from the humongous claws of the monster, and doubled his efforts into holding the monster still so it could not use its speed or strength to escape.

Damian swung the massive aura-sword, laden with a god-killer spell, in a soul-shivering, powerful arc of pure dark energy.

There was something in this spell that made every powerful being afraid for their lives. It wasn't simply the power; it was like anti-matter, but for the fragments of divinity that these lesser godlike creatures carried within them. Damian himself was creeped out whenever he used it.

The arc of disaster was swallowed by a well-placed giant wormhole. Sulthar chose this exact moment to throw the unfathomable lizard away from himself. Damian calculated the perfect angle and distance and let the disaster meet its target.

The crocodile was jumping like a rabbit just out of the cage, the primal fear clouding all his judgment.

At last, with a clamourous boom, the dark arc of his blade landed on the crocodile's back and cleanly severed one third of it from the head side. The body of the monster kept moving even with such damage, but the dark fire that was ignited on its flesh on impact did not stop consuming at all.

The unfathomable crocodile reached the lava, but by the time it did, 65% of its body was covered in dark flames and bleeding pure liquid fire.
