The Runic Alchemist

Chapter 892: Rush to Level 100 — Part 14

Level 91 was a massive, dark room. Pitch black solid floor, walls, and ceiling. Like one of the rooms in the dark palace, only this room stretched over 5km and had no windows or doors.

It wasn't blistering heat, but there was something in the atmosphere that weighed on Damian's body. As if his flesh did not exist at all, and the heat and pressure were directly affecting his internals. His legs felt heavier, breathing slightly rugged and his shoulders felt like they were carrying the burden of ages.

Sulthar, to the side, was not spared as well, despite having a much tougher physical body.

The other side of the dark room had another Unfathomable monster; only the three pairs of large, yellow eyes were visible. Damian spread hundreds of light orbs to illuminate the massive room, revealing the hideous monster.

Tall enough to tower over buildings. Large canine teeth. Thick, red, leathery skin and deep yellow glowing eyes. A beyond ugly three-headed dog.

The second it sensed Damian and Sulthar, all three ugly, saliva-dripping mouths opened, accompanied by three large runic circles forming near each head. Then it launched a powerful beam of fire from one mouth. Something green, smelly liquid from the second mouth, and a powerful tree-pulling kind of wind from the last.

The liquid was highly flammable, and the wind was further angering the flames, at times giving it directions as well.

Damian and Sulthar flew around, dodging the ridiculously long-ranged flames. He placed dozens of runic circles around the large dog while doing so. The copyright-cerberus slammed its giant paws on the dark floor, another large runic circle forming before its body, and a white wave washed over them in seconds. It passed right through the coat of seven.

In the next moment, the weight crushing on Damian and Sulthar increased tenfold. Both slammed onto the dark floor, creating small craters. Whatever this thing was, it had no right to be this ridiculous.

Gravity spells often had dark-purple or pitch-black runic circles; this weird attack had a pure white runic circle.

The large beam of fire finally had a still target. It took no time to unleash the full might of the flames on the two invaders. But the coat of seven held. No matter how hot, mana potent, or intense, it was just fire.

They could not move with the pressure on them, but he didn't need to.

Damian activated all the runic spells he had placed flying around. Massive, dark blue cold chains erupted from multiple runic circles and wrapped around the giant red dog. Each chain burying itself inside the body of the monster added to the cooling spell that worked from the inside out.

The flames faltered and cancelled as the giant three-headed dog froze up. Even with active internal heating, the cold chains held too much power.

Damian launched another set of runic spells.

Two dozen massive golden hands took shape. Connecting each with a mana thread, Damian pummelled the restrained dog to hell and back. Each fist landing on the giant dog shook the whole black room, leaving spiderweb-like cracks on the floor, deepening the crater beneath its feet.

The fist did not stop till the copyright-cerberus was bleeding profusely from all over its body. Every little movement of the monster left a pleasing cracking of bones sound that hurt just listening. A couple of minutes, and the pressure from their shoulders vanished.

The monster was dead.

Damian stored the thing in his spatial storage, dusted his clothes, and moved forward.

"There were easier ways to kill it.." Sulthar commented, uncomfortable with the needless brutality.

"It was a boring one," Damian replied. "The dungeon needs to know I am not entertained."

Sulthar narrowed his eyes, too weirded out to comment.

They proceeded to the next floor.

Level 92 was the same closed-up dark room, only the Unfathomable monster waiting for them this time was a titanic ice golem. The thing even had ice eyebrows and an ice beard. It looked funny.

The freezing cold and blizzard winds were not so funny though. This thing also carried that weird soul-crushing pressure on his shoulders. But before the white wave released by the ice giant's gigantic hands clapping passed through them, Damian used a simple wormhole to get past it.

"Old tricks.." He muttered as hundreds of lasers shattered the ice giant into tiny snowflakes.

He kept the glowing dark blue core unharmed though, and stored it in his storage. It would help in one of his research projects, the aim of which was to rebuild golems from their cores with some reprogramming. Giving them suedo-counsious. It was harder than one might imagine.

The level 93 was even simpler. Same black room, but this time the key point left them in the very middle. One side of the room had the copyright-cerberus again, and the other side was the same bearded ice golem.

Dodging the white pressure waves while killing both barely took three minutes. He only used restraining blue chains and god-killer spell-laden aura slashes.

Another blue core and mana rich body of a giant dog were added to his loot bag.

The level 94 was fully underwater, a 5 km square cube of invisible wall inside some part of the ocean, probably. It had to be closer to the surface with the bright light of the sun trickling down.

The unfathomable monster on this floor was a 8 feet tall fish lady. The upper half of the naked female form, and the lower half was fish-like. Her ears were like flaring meter big bright orange frills. The skin was ghostly white with spinal scales on her back trailing down to where her hips should have been. Her eyes looked familiar but not quite human.

Her mouth was normal when closed, but the second she opened it, the rows of sharp teeth were horrifying to look upon.

A giant pink runic circle formed near her mouth before sound left her throat.

Damian knew better than to face that shit head-on. Psychic attacks were the most fucked up to defend against.

A quick wormhole to get behind her and then the runic spell for releasing a wave of tenfold pressure. Before the fish lady could turn, she was hit by the white wave and slammed into the invisible wall beneath. She tried hard to turn her face, but another tenfold pressure wave and she was literally squished to death. Turning the blue water muddy red.

Alas, he could not collect her.

'That's too weak for level 94..' Damian mourned the dead.

A chain of wormholes in swaying water, and they reached the key point, moving further.

Level 95 was a red wasteland with temperatures in probably 60 or 70s, relatively cool. The size was back to the normal 40km floor. The towering Unfathomable monster, which was visible from the very beginning of the floor, was a familiar sight.

The color of the metal was switched to pitch black, but the humanoid shape, massive god-killer spell imbued Heiryul's sword, and hydraulic movements of the golem betrayed its origin.

"Fuck!" Sulthar cursed. "It's you!"

"Fuck indeed.." Damian muttered.

The giant burning dark red eyes on his own creation as it turned its massive head back over his shoulder looked traumatizing to say the least. The giant kilometer tall dark robotic golem was taking massive strides towards them.

"Well, you are up, partner." Damian encouragingly patted Sulthar's shoulders.

Sulthar's eyes widened in horror. Damian loved the rare sight.

"Of course, I will support you from the side," he added.

Sulthar glared at the incoming titanic dark machinery and transformed into his oppressive dragon form. Damian pushed himself high in the air, preparing hundreds of spells.

A thick, terrifyingly fast beam of laser launched from the black titan's shoulder, targeting Sulthar's growing bodymass. Damian placed a hurried giant wormhole to capture it and reflect it back to the giant machinery. But to their shock, purple lightning covering giant wormhole opened near the black golem and captured the beam of laser again, sending it back.. again!

Sulthar had transformed by now, so he pushed with the giant wing to the side and dodged the laser beam.

'The bastard can do wormholes too!'

Sulthar refrained from launching his own hellfire and instead closed the distance with a pressurized gust of wind behind the wings. The god-killer sword in the hands of the black golem slashed the empty wind from multiple angles.

With a horrowing humming sound, dozens of paper-thin solid wind arcs followed Sulthar's flying path. Not just launching at the target, but even predicting and, at times, even using wormholes to create variations.

'Intelligence..?'

Sulthar showed some impressive aerial movements while still trying to close in.

That was no common monster. Could there be another him inside the golem? He did not sense anything though. There was a core inside. Like all golems. It was filled with condensed mana, much similar to a real legendary monster mana-core instead of an artificial golem core.

'Some kind of mix between a golem and a real monster?'

Damian placed a giant wormhole beneath the black titan's feet, followed by several white waves of the newly learned pressur spell.

It sensed the wormhole opening and jumped up. Familiar, powerful wind spells lifted the heavy tons of metal golem into the air, moving out of the wormhole's range.

The black golem tried to swallow the white waves in the wormhole, but it went right through and passed through the dark golem.

But to Damian's surprise, the spell had.. no effect at all.
