Timeless Assassin

Chapter 794: A Lesson In Respect

(Inside Soron's Castle, Soron's POV)

Soron took the holographic device from Chaosbringer's hands without a word, his fingers brushing against the cold metal as a faint hum echoed from within it.

The air inside the castle seemed to still, waiting for his command, as he poured a steady stream of mana into the device, which activated the recorded footage within.

*Brrr*

*Flick*

What unfolded next was not a message, but a spectacle, a carefully crafted act of cruelty masquerading as righteousness.

The first image that appeared was of a vast city drenched in bright sunlight, its spires bearing the insignia of the Righteous Faction.

Streets overflowed with people shouting praises and curses alike, their voices blending into a feverish roar of hatred and mockery.

And at the center of it all was a colossal cage dragged through the boulevard by chains thick as a man's arm, while inside it knelt the Cult's Dragon, Aegon Veyr, his body bloodied and stripped bare, his wrists and ankles bound by chains that glowed like molten iron against his injured skin.

He looked less like a man and more like a wounded beast, his once-majestic frame covered in bruises and filth, while his back was marked by whip scars that still oozed with blood beneath the light.

*Crack*

The sound of a whip echoed from the projection, sharp and merciless, as the Righteous soldiers laughed, dragging him forward while the crowd hurled rotten fruit, mud, and filth at him.

The air was thick with chants, each word cutting deeper than any weapon.

"Behold the Evil Cult's Messiah!"

The announcer's voice boomed through the streets, his tone triumphant and venomous all at once. "The false messiah! The butcher of Nemo! The dog of the Evil Cult God!"

The projection shifted, showing Aegon being paraded through every district, as he was abused by the cheering masses.

The camera followed him closely, capturing every detail of his degradation, every flinch, every fall, every desperate gasp as he was forced to rise again under the jeers of those who once feared him.

By the time the final scene arrived, the tone of the video changed, becoming almost ceremonial. A solemn voice began to narrate over the image of Aegon chained atop a viewing stage, his body slumped forward, his eyes empty yet defiant.

"In two months' time," the voice declared, "this monster shall face divine justice at The Pit, before the eyes of the entire universe. Let his execution mark the end of the Cult's tyranny, and the beginning of an eternal age of purity."

The man said, as the video faded into silence, the projection flickering before collapsing into a faint spark of light.

For a brief moment, no one spoke, as the air seemed to thicken, as if even the walls held their breath.

Then came the sound of cracking metal.

*Crkkk*

Soron's hand tightened around the device until it gave way, the crystal shattering between his fingers as broken shards fell soundlessly to the ground.

His pupils constricted, his expression still calm but his body trembling faintly, as though containing a storm that begged to be released.

*Rumble*

The walls of the ancient castle shook violently as the pressure in the air changed.

Cracks splintered across the marble floor, candles toppled, and the very air itself began to vibrate under the weight of his fury.

Yet, despite the chaos, Chaosbringer felt no pain, no pressure crushing his lungs, nor any divine aura suffocating his spirit.

Unlike Leo's pressure, which affected everything around him equally, Soron seemed to have mastered aura enough to direct it towards objects that deserved his hatred, and away from those that did not.

"How dare they?" Soron muttered, his voice low, guttural and trembling with barely restrained wrath.

"HOW?"

He repeated as he clenched his fists tighter, black veins bulging beneath his skin as the remnants of divine energy sparked across his arms.

His jaw tensed, his teeth grinding audibly as his shoulders rose and fell with each heavy breath.

"How dare they strip him naked… and make him walk through the streets like a petty criminal?" he hissed, his tone rising.

"How dare they whip him in front of crowds who cheered for his suffering? How dare they reduce the Cult's Dragon, the symbol of our strength, to a spectacle for their amusement?"

His voice grew louder with every word, echoing across the castle, as his aura flared brighter with each heartbeat.

"He is not some beast to be humiliated! He is a warrior, a savior, a hero to his people!

And they dare treat him like a common rapist? Or a petty thief?"

*Thud*

Soron struck the table beside him, splitting it clean in half, the wood bursting into splinters as divine energy rippled outward, shaking dust loose from the ceilings.

His breathing quickened, his chest heaving, eyes glinting red under the candlelight as the fury within him turned near feral.

"Who do they think they are?" he growled, his voice breaking into something darker, heavier. "Who gave them the right to touch the Dragon with such disrespect?"

He stepped forward, his presence filling the room like a stormfront crashing against a cliff.

"Is it because they thought I was dead? IS IT BECAUSE THEY THINK I'M WEAK?"

He yelled, as Chaosbringer nodded in agreement, his own anger mirroring that of Soron.

"They've definitely crossed a red line," Chaosbringer said finally, his tone cold yet grimly satisfied. "A line they should have never dared to cross. An action that must have consequences now."

He said, as Soron turned toward him, the god's eyes cruel, as he clenched his jaw with an almost unrelenting rage.

"Then we'll remind them," he said, his voice calm now, eerily calm, like the quiet before a killing blow.

"We'll remind them why the Cult Of Ascension once ruled the universe.

We have taken their abuse for too long.

I have reserved my strength for too long.

If they can't treat the Cult's messiah with the proper respect he deserves.

Then I guess it's time to teach them a lesson in respect…..

A lesson that their next seventeen generations will dare not forget."

He said, as his aura simmered down into a silent, suffocating glow.

"Lord Boss wants to try to save the Dragon. If you agree to help him, he might have a plan on how to save him from The Pit…."

Chaosbringer suggested, as Soron nodded in understanding, his mind already made on what to do next.

"Good. Tell Skyshard to see me here as soon as he can.

Tell him, I'm with him for whatever he needs….

Tell him, it's time for payback."
