Mythical Era: My Evolution into a Celestial Beast

Chapter 1198: Divine Fusion Illumination Across the Heavens the True Celestial Colossal Beast (II)

"The everlasting sun—No, this eternal aura... He's already touched eternity!"

In the Ancient Battlefield, the True Radiant Sky Emperor and the others looked up at the dark-red sun that shone upon all realms in shock and disbelief.

The Heavenly Flame Supreme and the rest stood frozen, their minds blank.

Over ten years ago, Chen Chu and that colossal beast had started battling the Nine Hells monster while only at the peak of the Sixth Primordial Heaven. Even then, their strength had left everyone awestruck.

Now, eleven years later, Chen Chu or rather, that colossal beast, had suddenly reached the Ninth Primordial Heaven, and perhaps even semi-eternal level.

Is that... possible?

"All hail the eternal one's descent!"

Countless alien beings across the Ancient Battlefield fell to their knees when they felt the spreading aura of eternal supremacy, bowing in worship to the arrival of the supreme eternal being. Even across other worlds, innumerable living beings instinctively knelt before the blazing sun in the heavens.

In the Solar Divine Region, Luo Fei stood in the void, her eyes dazed as she gazed toward the distant dark-red sun shining beyond infinite space-time.

"Chen Chu!"

"That colossal beast... is my brother?" At the center of the golden sea, Chen Hu, who had just broken through to the primordial level, looked up in astonishment at the radiant dark-red sun above.

As he looked at the sun that resembled both a colossal beast and Chen Chu himself, and felt the boiling, surging power feeding back into his body, Chen Hu's mind drifted.

He remembered the six-horned salamander his brother had once kept in his room. It was a tiny creature, no larger than a palm, that had mutated under transcendent energy, growing ever larger, until one day his brother claimed to release it into the wild.

But it hadn't been released at all. His brother was that beast. Or rather, that beast had always been his brother's avatar. No wonder that colossal beast had repeatedly come to humanity's aid, and even led the colossal beast empire's army across immeasurable distances to support them in their war against the Purgatory Demon Clan.

At that moment, Chen Hu understood everything. And he wasn't the only one.

In Wujiang City, Zhang Xiaolan stood high above the clouds, surrounded by radiant streams of principle light. Her realm had surged in one breath from the peak of the mythical level to the titan level.

As she looked at the shining dark-red sun in the outer heavens, she felt an inexplicable closeness to it, as if that sun were her own son.

In the mythical world, as the dark-red sun rose, the golden, crimson, and azure suns blazed brighter, and one majestic roar after another resounded through countless realms. At the same time, both the silver moon and the Blood Moon appeared in the sky in the middle of the day, radiating a dazzling brilliance in resonance.

It was as though the heavens themselves were celebrating the birth of the dark-red sun.

Across the mythical world, billions of mythical colossal beasts raised their heads and roared toward the heavens, bowing in reverence to the newly born king of colossal beasts.

In the Chaotic Region, the seas erupted as enormous waves surged. The Dragon Turtle, the Nine-Headed Serpent, and the Single-Horned Kunpeng all soared into the sky, their eyes burning with excitement.

Ghidorah, Zhulong, look! Thunder Fiery, Thunder Fiery has become the sun!

The Dragon Turtle's massive body trembled with exhilaration. We see it, stop shouting.

Ghidorah's nine dragon heads twisted wildly, shaking the surrounding space. Even after becoming a titan-level beast, Ghidorah's habit of thrashing its heads and tangling its tails whenever excited had not changed in the slightest.

Wooo!

The Single-Horned Kunpeng let out a melodious cry, turning to the floating black Kun-whale beside it.

My love, do you see it? Thunder Fiery has become the sun. It feels so strong.

The female Kun-whale let out a soft coo, her gaze fixed on the sky.

Strong is an understatement. That power has already surpassed everything we can comprehend.

The Blue Giant Crab bubbled furiously on the sea's surface.

Gurgle, gurgle. So awesome, invincible, the king is unstoppable, ula, ula!

Tens of thousands of crab-like colossal beasts waved their claws in unison behind it, the sight magnificent beyond words.

Among those beasts, the red one shrouded in temporal energy remained calm, letting out a low rumble. As expected of our king. Too powerful, utterly invincible.

Since they did not truly understand realms above the primordial level, these colossal beasts could not grasp what level the Dragon Emperor had now reached, nor how powerful it had become.

But that did not matter. Their king had always been monstrously strong. To them, the Dragon Emperor was either becoming stronger or already strong. This terrifying surge of aura only made their blood boil.

They felt shock, but they had long grown used to it.

However, the ancient-titan-level dragon kings of the Dragon Palace were far less composed.

My love, are we seeing things? That colossal beast... is it really the king?

The Time Dragon stared at the heavens, feeling as if it were dreaming. It had only been gone a little more than ten years, yet that beast had now become a sun hanging in the sky.

It's the king. There's no mistake. The Azure-White Colossal Dragon nodded slowly, still dazed.

That indigenous beast, which had reached the mythical level before even reaching the age of one, had possessed terrifying potential from the start. Just one long sleep, and it had grown to such an unimaginable level.

They just did not know how Saixitia, who had left with their king, was doing now.

You've already gone so far away, huh?The Golden-Blue Colossal Dragon stood atop a mountain tens of thousands of kilometers high, gazing at the dark-red sun in awe.

That fool Saixitia... I wonder how it's doing.

Under the gaze of countless beings—both familiar and unfamiliar, both human and beast—the dark-red radiance pulsed as a pair of immense golden-black vertical pupils slowly opened within it. They held the grand vision of the cosmos' birth and death, of all things perishing and being reborn anew.

At the same time, a vast, seven-colored transparent river appeared before the Dragon Emperor, flowing endlessly through the heavens and all realms and weaving together the fates of every living being.

"So this is the river of fate."

The Divine Fusion this time had exceeded even Chen Chu's expectations; they had transcended the Ninth Primordial Heaven to reach the semi-eternal level. As he felt the nearly invincible power coursing through his being, Chen Chu's eyes blazed with fierce battle will as he slowly looked toward the upper reaches of the Ancient Battlefield.

There lay the gateway to the Supreme Chaos, where Heng and the two eternal beings were waging their war.

Boom!

The black-red colossal beast, its body vast enough to fill the entire seventh-layer universe, took a single step. The invisible pressure of that movement crushed the whole layer of the universe. The shattered cosmos turned into crystalline fragments under an unseen force, the violent waves of destruction freezing in mid-air.

The True Radiant Sky Emperor, the True Reincarnation Emperor, and the other powerhouses below stood stiff as statues, not daring to move, fearing that even the slightest disturbance would shatter the stillness and draw the annihilating backlash upon them.

A supreme, majestic roar echoed across the heavens from the distant mythical world .

In the eyes of the Dragon Emperor, a colossal projection appeared beyond heaven and earth. The massive form, spanning a million light-years even in projection, caused the chaos itself to tremble.

The eternal-level beast's black-red body radiated boundless might, its will descending in solemn resonance.

Danger lies ahead. Do not go.

The Dragon Emperor paused in surprise. It had not expected the eternal beast to awaken merely to warn it. Then, that enormous maw, which was large enough to devour a galaxy, parted slightly.

...Thank you for the warning. But I have reasons I cannot ignore. When I slay those two eternal beings, I will return and help you destroy the Chaotic Nightmare Lord.

As its deep voice faded away, the vast black-red beast slowly turned around. Under the reverent gaze of all beings, its enormous claws reached out and tore through the void.

Boom!

The Ancient Battlefield quaked violently. The seventh-layer universe was ripped apart, leaving behind a magnificent, radiant rift that pierced straight into the Supreme Chaos.

The black-red colossal beast roared mightily as it plunged into the Supreme Chaos, charging toward the battlefield so perilous that even eternal beasts feared to tread.

The end.

Afterword

This book began in March of last year, and after about sixteen months, it has reached over 3.4 million Chinese words.

To be honest, this was my first time writing such a long story, and I've learned a great deal from it.

I want to sincerely thank all my readers for your support along the way. Having your company throughout this journey has been my greatest honor. I also wish to thank my editor for the invaluable guidance and reminders on narrative pacing and continuity, which helped me avoid many pitfalls.

Special thanks as well to Hu Zhong Ri Yue and Nuan Yang Ju for your generous rewards. When that "Golden Alliance" reward came through, I was completely stunned.

Before that, I never imagined a reader would support a book they liked with ten thousand, even a hundred thousand yuan. It truly left me speechless.

Also, my thanks to Zaoshu, who worked hard on the operations side of things. Those activity events always made my head spin. I could never quite figure them out.

That concludes the afterword. Now let's just talk casually.

...

After I posted the final chapter last night, I saw many readers saying that the ending felt a bit abrupt.

In truth, the story had already reached its natural conclusion. The main plot and outline I designed from the beginning were meant to end right at the final battle against the Purgatory Demon Clan, when the Divine Fusion led toward a broader mythical world.

Because of this, I hadn't deliberately slowed the pacing or restrained the power levels. The protagonist and the colossal beast shared synchronized growth, pushing them to the limit. Their strength increased at an exponential rate.

So by the time the Purgatory Demon Clan was defeated, that should have been the ending. Yet, in response to readers' strong requests, I continued writing about the mythical world that followed. That was when the issue appeared. The power levels had already reached the primordial level, and suddenly there was nothing left to build upon.

The primordial level is simply too high, and the story loses its sense of realism there. Even the battles between colossal beasts started to feel the same.

Their bodies had grown so enormous that the fight scenes, though vast in scale, no longer carried the visceral thrill they once did. There were too many abilities, many of which no longer served any purpose.

And since I needed to create contrast with that eternal beast of the mythical world, the Dragon Emperor's size had to expand even further upon reaching the primordial level. By the time he reached the primordial sovereign level and the undying realm, the magnitude became so exaggerated that readers naturally lost that sense of tangible immersion.

It no longer had the same exhilarating feeling as those earlier battles, when colossal beasts a few hundred meters tall clashed and shattered the heavens and the earth.

On the human side, many readers wanted to see the wars across the six divine regions and among the myriad peak races. But that was hard to write for several reasons.

One of them is similar to the problem with the beasts: the protagonist had become too powerful. Stories about scheming or hiding one's strength no longer made sense. As a primordial-level being, Chen Chu would naturally stand among the upper echelons of the divine regions; he couldn't simply play the underdog.

At the same time, such a powerful figure appearing in the Ancient Battlefield would immediately draw the attention of the peak civilizations, especially given how absurdly fast his strength grew.

That left little room to write meaningful conflicts, and with the power scaling so empty at that stage, it became harder and harder to continue.

As for another popular request of having Chen Chu traverse to the supreme planes, invading and descending into other worlds as a mighty god or terrifying entity, I tested that idea twice. But it didn't work either, due to the protagonist's nature.

Chen Chu wouldn't visit other worlds to play around or offer charity; he would always have a purpose. Even as a passerby, he'd need to gain something valuable. Otherwise, it made more sense for him to stay in the six divine regions and plunder resources in the Ancient Battlefield.

This led to the core issue: From the very start, both Chen Chu and the Dragon Emperor had been given powers that were too vast.

After conquering one world, Chen Chu's strength would rise an entire tier, which in turn would dramatically disrupt the balance of the Ancient Battlefield.

Writing a second world invasion couldn't follow the same pattern, otherwise it would feel repetitive and dull. So that storyline had to be abandoned.

By this point, I realized the structural problem. The foundation of the story itself made it impossible to keep going naturally.

The mythical world was vast enough to continue for four or five million words, maybe even six or seven million with layered subplots, but there was no need. Many of the so-called "unresolved threads" were just minor side stories, not part of the main story.

As the saying goes, "When the moon is full, it begins to wane; when water is full, it spills."

Rather than forcefully stretching the plot and diluting its essence, it felt better to conclude the main story, bringing it full circle with an open-ended finale.

As for the relationship between the Silver Dragon and the Dragon Emperor, the Golden-Blue Dragon Torsafi's future, Luo Fei and Chen Chu's destiny, and the outcome of the eternal-level battle, those will only appear in the later side stories.

Speaking of which, let's talk about the romance.

At first, I actually planned for a harem route. You probably noticed that characters like Lin Xue, Lin Yu, and Luo Fei were all introduced early on as beautiful and talented girls.

Even An Fuqing, the prodigy who served as an early benchmark, was initially set up to be the first female lead.

But the same problem arose: Chen Chu's growth was simply too fast, and no one could keep up.

In an era where entire races could be wiped out overnight, even the strongest didn't have time for love. Crushing everything in their path was all that mattered, hahaha...

Alright, enough rambling.

The roads are long. Brothers, let's meet again in the next book.

The next story will likely be set in a modern urban world infused with transcendence—a blend of multiple genres—and yes, this time there will be a bit more romance.

New Book:Transcendent Awakening: I Can Transform into an World-Ending Colossal Beast

It also includes elements of colossal beasts. The protagonist can directly transform into one this time, not just use an avatar. If you're interested, please remember to bookmark and support it.
