Peerless Immortal Emperor in City

Chapter 408: 407

The sudden turn of events shocked Wu Yuqing. She looked at Qin Heng with immense concern.

"Are you okay? Qin Heng, are you all right?!"

Just now, the brick that had shattered the glass door of the sauce noodle shop had hit Qin Heng right on the head!

He couldn't be hurt, could he?!

Although Wu Yuqing knew that Qin Heng was a Martial Artist and an ordinary brick shouldn't hurt him, she couldn't help but worry; the brick had struck with terrifying force! Glass shards were scattered all over the ground.

The shop owner, Old Yang, hurried over to Qin Heng's side to check on him, while shouting at the gangsters outside, "What are you yelling about? Your brick hit someone!"

Upon hearing this, the gangsters outside panicked. They had been paid to vandalize the shop. Smashing things wasn't a big deal; getting caught would just mean a short stint in detention, and they could even boast about it later, almost as a badge of honor. But if they had hit someone, that was serious! Not only would they have to pay compensation, but they might also face trouble from others, making them anxious and unsettled.

"Bullshit!"

At this moment, the blond gang leader cursed, raising the baseball bat in his hand. Pointing at Old Yang in the shop, he sneered, "Damn it, Old Man Yang, who are you trying to fool! That guy is just sitting there, unharmed!"

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone's gaze turned to Qin Heng, only to see him sitting there, completely unharmed. He didn't look at all like someone who had been hit by a brick.

Old Yang and the other customers in the shop were stunned, frozen in place. Was it an illusion just now? They had clearly seen the brick hit the young man's head! How could there be no injury at all? Was his head made of iron or something?

They didn't know that Qin Heng was currently in a state of enlightenment. Mana within him automatically formed a defensive barrier, protecting him. Short of a nuclear explosion, nothing could harm him, let alone a mere brick. Even when the brick struck his head, he hadn't woken up.

His Divine Sense was immersed in the boundless profundity of esoteric principles, greedily absorbing their essence and comprehending the profound Realm they contained!

This was a huge opportunity, a once-in-a-lifetime chance! Without this fortuitous moment of insight, who knew how long it would have taken him, merely following his usual cultivation routine, to achieve this level of enlightenment!

Qin Heng was incredibly thrilled, completely oblivious to what was happening outside.

Seeing that Qin Heng was not injured, Old Yang, though puzzled, let out a sigh of relief. He was genuinely worried for Qin Heng and didn't want to see a customer get hurt. Then, he looked towards the blond gangster outside the shop, adopted a humbler stance, and said in a subdued voice, "Young Han, didn't Boss Liu say we had one more month?"

"Who the fuck are you calling 'young Han'? Huh!" the blond hooligan snarled, raising his baseball bat and smashing another glass pane. Pointing at the shop owner, he said with unashamed arrogance, "Old Man Yang, my name is Han Wendong! You call me Brother Han!"

The shop's patrons couldn't stand to watch anymore.

"Hey, you're not that old, but you've got quite the nerve!" a man in his twenties stood up. He was a regular customer. He said to the blond gangster, "Master Yang is over fifty; he's old enough to be your father. You actually want him to call you Brother Han? Aren't you afraid of jinxing yourself and shortening your lifespan!"

This blond gangster, merely in his twenties, expected Master Yang—a man more than twice his age—to call him 'Brother Han.' The audacity was utterly ridiculous!

"Who the fuck do you think you are?!" Han Wendong, the blond thug, burst into a rage on the spot. He charged in, swinging the baseball bat hard at the young man's stomach!

BANG!

The young man knelt on the ground, clutching his stomach and rolling in pain, wailing, "AAAH! AAAH! It hurts! It hurts so much!"

"Motherfucker, dumbass! PTOOEY!" Han Wendong cursed, spitting on the young man's face. Then, stepping on his head, he said, "Trash! Is it your turn to spout bullshit here?"

The surrounding customers fell silent as cicadas in winter, shivering uncontrollably. They had also wanted to argue with the thugs but hadn't expected Han Wendong to be so brazen as to charge in and assault someone. They were instantly terrified.

"HAHAHA! A bunch of trash! Worthless!" Han Wendong, holding the baseball bat, pointed and cursed at everyone in the shop, naturally including Qin Heng, who was still in his state of enlightenment.

The thugs outside grew excited, cheering, "The Boss is mighty! The Boss is awesome!"

"So imposing! Truly imposing!"

"That's our Boss!"

The thugs were flattering Han Wendong. These small-time gangsters didn't dare hit anyone, but Han Wendong was different! Han Wendong had backing—and from a big shot at that! So, when it came to beating up ordinary people, even crippling them—as long as it didn't result in death—Han Wendong didn't care at all.

"You, how can you be like this! Too arrogant! Too arrogant!" Master Yang trembled with rage. Having lived over fifty years honestly and without causing trouble, he never expected to encounter such an incident so late in his life!

This place was indeed scheduled for demolition. He had planned to move in with his daughter and retire once the shop was torn down. But after operating it for decades, he still felt a sense of reluctance. With one month left until demolition, he had thought of keeping the shop open for another half month. Unexpectedly, despite the agreement of one month, small-time thugs were always rushing him, demanding he close the shop immediately! They didn't even allow him time to pack up! What he hadn't expected at all was that today, these thugs would become even more arrogant! They actually dared to assault people!

"Arrogant?" Han Wendong sneered. "Old man, you clearly haven't seen your Brother Han—that's me—in action! Boss Liu has ordered me to tear down this place by this afternoon! I advise you to get lost quickly, or you'll be carried out!"

"You, you, you!" Master Yang's voice trembled. Pointing at Han Wendong, he was too furious for words, his expression filled with utter despair.

This was his shop, operated for decades! From his teenage years until now, over fifty years old—he had spent more than forty years in this place! Initially, he had wanted to tidy up properly when closing down the shop, to take away those objects filled with memories! But now, it was supposed to be demolished this afternoon; there was simply no time!

"What 'you'?!" Han Wendong snorted coldly, pointing the baseball bat at Master Yang and shouting loudly, "Brothers! This old man isn't showing any respect! Don't wait! Everybody get in! Smash it!"

"Alright! Smash, smash, smash!"

"HAHAHA! The Boss is mighty!"

"Brothers, let's have a smashing good time today!"

The young thugs outside grew even more excited. Holding bricks, clubs, and other such items, they prepared to rush into the shop.

"No! You can't do this!" Master Yang's face turned pale, his heart felt as if it were being pierced by a knife. He immediately rushed to block the door and cried out, "You can't smash! You mustn't smash!"

"Can't my ass! Even if the Heavenly King himself came, he couldn't stop us!" Han Wendong shouted arrogantly. "Brothers! Smash! Smash it hard! Beat them if they dare to resist!"

"What are you smashing?"

Just then, Qin Heng emerged from his state of enlightenment. He stood up, looked at Han Wendong with a cold gaze, and said indifferently, "Kneel, kowtow, and apologize to Master Yang."
