"Beast God Temple."
Wang Linchi looked at the dilapidated building. Even its name was decayed. Wang Linchi had to use his Thought Field to mentally reconstruct it; otherwise, the original characters were completely indecipherable to the naked eye.
I hope I don't stumble upon something unpleasant again.
He had never heard of this Beast God. While he was in Crouching Tiger City, he had read quite a few books but found no mention of any Beast God.
Inside the temple, there wasn't much to see. After being unkempt for so long and exposed to the elements, it was almost like a haunted house.
In the center of the temple stood a statue. It was said to be the Beast God, but it actually resembled a standing human figure.
"An eight-pack... tsk tsk," Wang Linchi remarked, observing the Beast God statue. Apart from its missing head, everything else seemed fine.
It wasn't originally headless. Judging from the fracture, it seemed to have been chopped off.
What is wrong with everyone, always thinking about chopping off heads?
The good news was that this time the head wasn't found within the statue. The bad news was that Wang Linchi had no idea where it was.
After another thorough search, he found no useful clues. It gave Wang Linchi the impression of being a privately, and perhaps illicitly, built shrine to some wild beast, hence its dilapidated state.
So, there is no opportunity here after all? Was it just me overthinking things? Wang Linchi found nothing.
Perhaps there was an opportunity, but he just hadn't found it.
If it's not here, then there's no point in forcing it. He couldn't find it, so there was nothing he could do; he couldn't obtain it even if he wished to.
Just as he was planning to leave, he noticed dark clouds gathering in the sky. As he reached the doorway, raindrops as large as beans began to pour down.
So, is it a blessing or not?
Wang Linchi was unsure whether it was the effect of the Blessing or just a pure coincidence. There had indeed been signs of rain earlier, but he hadn't paid them much mind. Now that it started pouring just as he was about to leave, he couldn't help but read more into it.
Well, in that case, I might as well search again. I was just...
CRACK~
Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled in the sky, and a sudden bolt illuminated the entire Beast God Temple.
In that instant, Wang Linchi seemed to see a head materialize on the fractured neck of the Beast God statue—a head that was neither entirely human nor entirely beast.
Damn it! This isn't actually turning into some supernatural horror show, is it? When the lightning flash faded, Wang Linchi looked at the Beast God statue, still headless, and felt a shiver of dread.
To get a better look, Wang Linchi dragged a table over. After climbing up, he stared intently at the statue's broken neck, waiting for the next flash of lightning, ready for a face-to-face encounter if that thing reappeared.
Wang Linchi was indeed scared, but the best way to overcome fear is to face it.
He decided that if that thing appeared again, he would give it a hefty smack, to let it know just how treacherous the human heart could be.
"I'll show you what 'buy one get one free' really means." Saint Master stood right behind Wang Linchi; his height allowed him to deliver a hefty smack to this Beast God statue without needing a table.
BOOM~
Another flash of Thunder lit up the temple.
The head reappeared on the fractured neck of the Beast God statue before Wang Linchi. He and the Saint Master acted in unison without hesitation.
He grabbed for the head, while Saint Master struck the statue.
"Out you come~" As Wang Linchi's hand made contact, it felt as if he had plunged it into some kind of cold, gelatinous substance. The texture wasn't unpleasant, but it was bone-chilling.
With a pull, he yanked out a grotesque head, while Saint Master, without hesitation, shattered the Beast God statue.
The statue, presumably carved from wood, shockingly turned into flesh and blood upon shattering.
Blood splattered, nearly drenching Wang Linchi, but fortunately, his Soul Shield intercepted it.
Damn, this really has turned into a horror story! Wang Linchi stared at the gory, fleshy head in his hands and the chunks of flesh scattered on the ground, his expression grim.
The sky grew dark, and heavy rain, mixed with thunder and lightning, poured down. Wang Linchi held the head, preparing to examine it.
Just as he took out a knife, about to begin dissecting it, the peculiar eyes on the strange head twitched.
Their eyes met.
"...It was you who slapped me just now, wasn't it..." the head, part-human and part-beast, spoke first, breaking the awkward silence.
"'Ahem, you must be mistaken," Wang Linchi said, hastily hiding the dissection knife behind his back. "So, who might you be?"
"'You're in my temple asking who I am. Don't you find that a bit redundant?" the head retorted calmly.
"'Oh~ so you're the Beast God," Wang Linchi feigned realization, then nodded. "Alright then, this is a robbery. Anything you'd like to say?"
"'Take anything you fancy from the temple," the Beast God's head replied, sounding completely unconcerned.
Wang Linchi glanced around. It was all just a pile of scrap; even a junk collector might not want it.
"'Ah, forget it. Just tell me your origins," Wang Linchi sighed.
"'My origins aren't important. I recall there was a Heavenly Demon suppressed by a great, virtuous monk next door. How is it that only a little devil whelp is left?" the Beast God's head asked, sounding perplexed.
"'You know the Heavenly Demon? The one proficient with the Heavenly Demon Transformation Blood God Sword technique?" Wang Linchi asked, his expression unreadable.
"'Yes, that's him." The Beast God's head seemed to possess unfathomable power. The 'little devil whelp' it mentioned was likely the youth from the Shi Family's collateral branch.
"'He's dead," Wang Linchi responded.
"'Impossible. How could he die? A Heavenly Demon is Immortal unless struck by the Great Ruins," the Beast God's head said, puzzled.
"'Great Ruins?" Wang Linchi queried.
"'Mm, the Great Ruins. It should be arriving soon," the Beast God's head muttered cryptically, then continued, "My grave is big enough to bury you too. Since the Heavenly Demon has already passed on, you can accompany me."
Hold on, that's a lot of information. Let me process this.
Wang Linchi was finding it hard to cope. Setting aside the Great Ruins for a moment, this Secret Realm is a grave?
This temple is your grave? Wang Linchi still felt his guess was too outlandish.
"'This temple is, at best, a memorial tablet. The entire Secret Realm is my tomb. Who knew your world would go crazy and absorb all these tombs into itself," the Beast God's head grumbled.
Then the Heavenly Demon's...
"'Correct, his tomb too. Before my tomb was sucked in, we were neighbors. We'd even chat sometimes. After being absorbed, they merged."
"'If you hadn't given me that hefty slap, I really might not have woken up."
"'But this counts as good news too. Dying early is better than dying in the Great Ruins," the Beast God said, sounding resigned.
So all Secret Realms are... Wang Linchi felt a chill run down his spine. Ten minutes ago, he was contemplating his struggles, and the next second, he heard such a suffocating revelation.
"'They are. Not only tombs but also the fragmented corpses of worlds pulverized by the Great Ruins." The Beast God didn't hide anything, spilling all the spoilers.
"'So you and the Heavenly Demon aren't normal beings, are you?" Wang Linchi inquired.
"'You can call me World Will, Heavenly Dao, or whatever else you like."
"'Everything in this Secret Realm was formed through further fusion after your world absorbed the fragments of my corpse."
"'Your body also carries the aura of another World Will that died and was reborn. However, it has been completely assimilated by your world, no longer a World Will, but a formidable Innate God." The Beast God sounded somewhat curious.
Wang Linchi couldn't help but think of the Tree of Immortality.
"'Then what is the Great Ruins? If the Great Ruins passes by my current world, will it..." Wang Linchi hadn't finished speaking when the Beast God interrupted him.
"'Rest assured, the Great Ruins will not *pass by* your world."
The Beast God's words brought a sliver of relief to Wang Linchi. So I won't die...
"'According to trajectory analysis, the Great Ruins will collide directly with your world. If even fragments remain, it would mean your world is exceptionally sturdy."
For a moment, Wang Linchi was speechless.
So, it's the apocalypse? How much time do we have left? Wang Linchi felt like cursing.
"'Five..."
"'Damn it, don't do a countdown!" Wang Linchi blurted out, terrified the Beast God would follow with 'four.'
"'How could I? It's approximately five years. However, your world should also be trying to save itself, perhaps by producing some ridiculously overpowered Son of Destiny. I was one myself, back in the day. Turns out, I couldn't salvage the situation," the Beast God rambled on.
Five years? Suddenly, Wang Linchi felt immense pressure.
Yan Ming King must reach the Daylight Level within five years... No, Daylight Level won't be enough. It has to be beyond the Daylight Level.
Each Secret Realm was formed from the corpse of a dead world. Within the territory of the Dajing Court, the dense clusters of Secret Realms represented an unknown number of world remains, a thought that made Wang Linchi's scalp tingle.
So many worlds couldn't withstand the Great Ruins. Can his world truly succeed?
I have to save myself. I definitely don't want to transmigrate again... Wang Linchi was a transmigrator, but he didn't think he'd be lucky enough to transmigrate a second time if he died.
